* Ye are all sons of light and sons of the day . We are not of the night nor of darkness . * So then let us not sleep , as also the others , but let us watch and be sober . * For those who sleep , sleep at night , and those who are intoxicated get drunk at night . * But we , being of the day , should be sober , putting on a breastplate of faith and love , and a helmet , the hope of salvation . * Because God appointed us not for wrath , but for an acquired possession of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ , who died for us . * So that , whether we are awake or sleep , we should live together with him .
