lesserot@2Chronicles:10:1 @ And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for to Shechem were all Israel come to make him king.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:2 @ And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it, for he was in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of king Solomon, that Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:3 @ And they sent and called him: and so came Jeroboam with all Israel and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:4 @ Thy father made our yoke hard; but now do thou make lighter the hard service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, and we will serve thee.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:5 @ And he said unto them, After but three days, then return unto me. And the people went away.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:6 @ Then consulted king Rehoboam with the old men that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, How do you advise that I should return an answer to this people?

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:7 @ And they spoke unto him, saying, If thou wilt be kind to this people, and please them, and speak to them good words: then will they be servants unto thee for all times.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:8 @ But he forsook the counsel which the old men had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and who stood before him.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:9 @ And he said unto them, How do you counsel how we should give an answer to this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make lighter the yoke which thy father did put upon us?

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:10 @ Then spoke with him the young men that were grown up with him, saying, Thus must thou say unto the people that have spoken unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but do thou make it lighter unto us: thus must thou say unto them, My little finger is thicker than my fathers loins.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:11 @ And now my father hath burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, then will I with scorpionthorns.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:12 @ When now Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king had spoken, saying, Return to me on the third day:

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:13 @ The king answered them harshly; and king Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the old men;

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:14 @ And he spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add thereto; my father chastised you with whips, but I will with scorpionthorns.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:15 @ And the king hearkened not unto the people; for it was so brought about from God, in order that the Lord might fulfill his word, which he had spoken by means of Achiyahu the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:16 @ So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? nor have we an inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to your tents, O Israel; now, see to thy own house, David. So did all Israel go to their tents.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:17 @ But as for the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah, over them did Rehoboam reign.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:18 @ Then sent king Rehoboam Hadoram who was over the tribute; but the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed with his might to get upon his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

lesserot@2Chronicles:10:19 @ So did Israel rebel against the house of David unto this day.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:1 @ And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin a hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring back the kingdom again to Rehoboam.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:2 @ But the word of the Lord came unto Shemayahu the man of God, saying,

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:3 @ Say unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, the king of Judah and Benjamin, saying,

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:4 @ Thus hath said the Lord, Ye shall not go up, nor fight with your brethren: return every man to his house; for from me hath this thing been brought about. And they hearkened to the words of the Lord, and returned from going against Jeroboam.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:5 @ And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities as fortresses in Judah.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:6 @ He built, namely, Bethlechem, and Etam, and Thekoa.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:7 @ And Bethzur, and Socho, and Adullam,

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:8 @ And Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:9 @ And Adorayim and Lachish, and Azekah,

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:10 @ And Zorah, and Ayalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:11 @ And he strengthened the strongholds, and put commanders in them, and stores of food, and oil and wine;

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:12 @ And in each and every city shields and spears, and made them exceedingly strong: and thus remained with him Judah and Benjamin.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:13 @ And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel presented themselves to him out of all their territory.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:14 @ For the Levites left their open districts and their possession, and went to Judah and Jerusalem; because Jeroboam and his sons cast them off from executing the priests office unto the Lord,

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:15 @ And he ordained for himself priests for the highplaces, and for the evil spirits, and for the calves which he had made.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:16 @ And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as directed their heart to seek the Lord the God of Israel: these came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the Lord, the God of their fathers.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:17 @ And they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and brought power to Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, during three years; for they walked in the way of David and Solomon during three years.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:18 @ And Rehoboam took himself as wife Machalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, Abichayil the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:19 @ And she bore to him sons: Jeush, and Shamaryah, and Zaham.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:20 @ And after her did he take Maachah the daughter of Abshalom; and she bore to him Abiyah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:21 @ And Rehoboam loved Maachah the daughter of Abshalom more than all his wives and his concubines; for he had taken eighteen wives and sixty concubines; and he begat twenty and eight sons, and sixty daughters.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:22 @ And Rehoboam appointed Abiyah the son of Maachah to be the chief, to be ruler among his brethren; because to make him king.

lesserot@2Chronicles:11:23 @ And he dealt understandingly, and dispersed all his children throughout all the countries of Judah and Benjamin, unto all the fortified cities; and he gave them food in abundance and he required a multitude of wives.

lesserot@2Chronicles:12:1 @ And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and when he had become strong, that he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him.
