* But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you , brethren , beloved of the Lord , because God has , from the beginning , chosen you to salvation , through sanctification of spirit , and belief of truth ; * to which he called you , by our gospel , that you might obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ . * Well , then , brethren , stand firm , and hold fast the traditions which you have been taught , whether by our word or letter . * And may our Lord Jesus Christ himself , and God , even our Father , who has loved us , and given us everlasting consolation , and good hope through favor , * comfort your hearts , and establish you in every good word and work .
