* And as they spake (5723 ) unto the people , the priests , and the captain of the temple , and the Sadducees , came upon (5627 ) them , * Being grieved (5740 ) that they taught (5721 ) the people , and preached (5721 ) through Jesus the resurrection from the dead . * And they laid (5627 ) hands on them , and put (5639 ) them in hold unto the next day : for it was (5713 ) now eventide . * Howbeit many of them which heard (5660 ) the word believed (5656 ); and the number of the men was (5675 ) about five thousand . * And it came to pass (5633 ) on the morrow , that their rulers , and elders , and scribes , * And Annas the high priest , and Caiaphas , and John , and Alexander , and as many as were (5713 ) of the kindred of the high priest , were gathered together (5683 ) at Jerusalem .
