* submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ . * Wives , submit yourselves to your own husbands , as to the Lord ; * for the husband is the head of the wife , even as Christ is the head of the church ,––he , who is the Saviour of the body . * But as the church is subject to Christ , so let wives be to their husbands in everything . * Husbands , love your wives , as Christ also loved the church , and gave himself up for it , * that he might sanctify it , having cleansed it by the bath of the water in the word ; * that he himself might present to himself the church , glorious , having no spot or wrinkle , or any such thing , but that it should be holy and without blemish . * In like manner husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies . He that loveth his own wife loveth himself ; * for no one ever yet hated his own flesh , but nourisheth and cherisheth it , even as Christ doth the church ; * for we are members of his body , of his flesh , and of his bones . * "For this cause shall a man leave father and mother , and shall cleave to his wife , and they two shall be one flesh ." * This mystery is a great one ; but I am speaking of Christ and of the church . * However , do ye also severally love each one his own wife as himself ; and let the wife see that she reverence her husband .
