* And Moses made Israel to pull out from the Sea of Reeds . And they went out into the wilderness of Shur . And they went into the wilderness three days , and did not find water . * And they came to Marah . And they were not able to drink water from Marah , for it was bitter . Therefore , one called its name Marah . * And the people murmured against Moses , saying , What shall we drink ? * And he cried to Jehovah , and Jehovah showed him a tree . And he threw it into the water , and the water became sweet . He made a statute and an ordinance for them there , and He tested them there . * And he said , If you carefully listen to the voice of Jehovah your God , and do what is right in His eyes , and you give ear to His commandments , and keep all His statutes , I will not put on you all the diseases which I have put on Egypt ; for I am Jehovah your healer . * And they came to Elim . And there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees . And they camped by the waters .
