And the sons of Gomer ;

as they journeyed from the east ,

And they said one to another ,
Go to ,
let us make brick ,
and burn them throughly .
And they had brick for stone ,
and slime had they for morter .

And they said ,
Go to ,
let us build us a city and a tower ,
whose top may reach unto heaven ;

lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth .

And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower ,
which the children of men builded .

And the LORD said ,
Behold ,
the people is one ,
and they have all one language ;
and this they begin to do :

which they have imagined to do .

Go to ,
let us go down ,
and there confound their language ,
that they may not understand one anothers speech .

So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth :
and they left off to build the city .

Therefore is the name of it called Babel ;
because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth :

the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth .

These are the generations of Shem :
Shem was an hundred years old ,
and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood :

And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years ,
and begat sons and daughters .

And Abram and Nahor took them wives :
the name of Abrams wife was Sarai ;
and the name of Nahors wife ,
Milcah ,
the daughter of Haran ,
the father of Milcah ,
and the father of Iscah .

But Sarai was barren ;
she had no child .
*
And Terah took Abram his son ,
and Lot the son of Haran his sons son ,
and Sarai his daughter in law ,
his son Abrams wife ;
and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees ,
to go into the land of Canaan K @

And the days of Terah were two hundred #

Now the LORD had said unto Abram ,
Get thee out of thy country ,
and from thy kindred ,

And I will make of thee a great nation ,
and I will bless thee ,

and thou shalt be a blessing :
*
And I will bless them that bless thee ,
and curse him that curseth thee :
and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed .

So Abram departed ,
as the LORD had spoken unto him ;
and Lot went with him :
and Abram was seventy #

And Abram took Sarai his wife ,
and Lot his brothers son ,
and all their substance that they had gathered ,
and the souls that they had gotten in Haran ;
and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan K @

And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem ,

And the Canaanite was then in the land .

And Abram journeyed ,
going on still toward the south .

for the famine was grievous in the land .

And it came to pass ,
when he was come near to enter into Egypt ,
that he said unto Sarai his wife ,
Behold now ,
I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon mar #

Therefore it shall come to pass ,
when the Egyptians shall see thee ,
that they shall say ,
This is his wife :
and they will kill me ,
but they will save thee alive .

Say ,
I pray thee ,
thou art my sister :
that it may be well with me for thy sake ;
and my soul shall live because of thee .
*
And it came to pass ,
that ,
when Abram was come into Egypt ,
the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair .
*
The princes also of Pharaoh saw her ,
and commended her before Pharaoh Par #

and the woman was taken into Pharaohs house .
*
And he entreated #
Abram well for her sake :
and he had sheep tso #

and oxen ,
and he asses ,
and menservants ,
and maidservants ,
and she asses ,
and camels .

And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abrams wife .
*
And Pharaoh called Abram ,
and said ,
What is this that thou hast done unto me ?
why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife ?
*
Why saidst thou ,
She is my sister ?
so I might have taken her to me to wife :
now therefore behold thy wife ,
take her ,
and go thy way .
*
And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him :
and they sent him away ,
and his wife ,
and all that he had .
*
And Abram went up out of Egypt ,
he ,
and his wife ,
and all that he had ,
and Lot with him ,
into the south .
