* And after these things it happened that his master 's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph . And she said , Lie with me . * But he refused and said to his master 's wife , Behold , my master does not know what [is ] in the house with me , and he has given all that he has into my hand . * [There is ] none greater in this house than I . Neither has he kept back anything from me except you , because you [are ] his wife . How then can I do this great wickedness , and sin against God ? * And it happened as she spoke to Joseph day by day , that he did not listen to her to lie with her , [or ] to be with her . * And it happened about this time that he came into the house to do his work . And none of the men of the house [were ] inside . * And she caught him by his robe , saying , Lie with me . And he left his robe in her hand and fled , and got out . * And it happened when she saw that he had left his robe in her hand , and had fled , * she called to the men of her house and spoke to them , saying , See , he has brought in a Hebrew to us to mock us . He came in to me , to lie with me , and I cried with a loud voice . * And it happened when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried , he left his robe with me , and fled , and got out . * And she laid up his robe beside her until his lord came home . * And she spoke to him according to these words , saying , The Hebrew servant which you have brought to us came in to me to mock me . * And it happened as I lifted up my voice and cried , that he left his robe with me and ran out . * And it happened when his master heard the words of his wife which she spoke to him , saying , Your servant did this to me , his wrath was kindled . * And Joseph 's master took him and put him in the prison , a place where the king 's prisoners [were ] bound . And he was there in the prison .
