* Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith , To day if ye (note :)So that God was to speak once again after Moses .(:note ) will hear his voice , * Harden not your hearts , as in the (note :)In the day that they troubled the Lord , or struggled with him .(:note ) provocation , in the day of temptation in the wilderness : * Where your fathers tempted me , prooued me , and sawe my workes fourtie yeeres long . * Wherefore I was grieved with that generation , and said , They do alway (note :)They are brutish and angry .(:note ) err in [their ] heart ; and they have not known my ways . * Therefore I sware in my wrath , If they shall enter into my rest . * * But exhort one another daily , (note :)While today lasts , that is to say , so long as the gospel is offered to us .(:note ) while it is called To day ; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin . * * * For some when they heard , prouoked him to anger : howbeit , not all that came out of Egypt by Moses . * But with whome was he displeased fourtie yeeres ? Was hee not displeased with them that sinned , whose carkeises fell in the wildernes ? * And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest , but vnto them that obeyed not ? * So we see that they could not enter in , because of vnbeliefe .
