Jeremiah:18:1-19:15

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:1 @ The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:2 @ Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:3 @ Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he was working a work on the wheel.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:4 @ And the vessel that he made in clay was ruined in the hand of the potter; so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make [it].

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:5 @ Then the Word of the LORD came to me, saying,

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:6 @ O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter? says the LORD. Behold, As the clay in the potter's hands, [so are] you in My hand, O house of Israel.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:7 @ The instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck it up and to pull it down, and to destroy [it];

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:8 @ if that nation, against whom I have spoken, will turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:9 @ And the instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build it and to plant [it];

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:10 @ if it does evil in My sight, not to obey My voice, then I will repent of the good with which I said I would do them good.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:11 @ Now then please, speak to the men of Judah, and to the people of Jerusalem, saying, So says the LORD: Behold, I am forming evil against you, and devising a plan against you. Return now, each one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:12 @ And they said, There is no hope; but we will walk after our own ways, and we will each one do [according to] the stubbornness of his evil heart.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:13 @ Therefore so says the LORD, Ask now among the nations; who has heard the like of this? The virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:14 @ Does the snow of Lebanon forsake the rock of the field? [Or] shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:15 @ Because My people have forgotten Me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused themselves to stumble in their ways [from] the old paths, to walk [in] by-paths, not [in] the highway,

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:16 @ to make their land desolate [and] a hissing forever. Everyone who passes by will be amazed, and will wag his head.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:17 @ I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:18 @ Then they said, Come and let us plot schemes against Jeremiah. For the law shall not perish from the priest, nor wisdom from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not pay attention to any of his words.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:19 @ Pay attention to me; O LORD, and attend to the voice of my foes.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:20 @ Should evil be repaid for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before You to do good for them, [and] to turn away Your wrath from them.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:21 @ Therefore deliver up their sons to the famine, and give them over to the hand of the sword. And let their wives be bereaved, and widows, and their men [be] slain of death; let their young men be struck by the sword in battle.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:22 @ Let a cry be heard from their houses, when You suddenly bring a raiding party on them. For they have dug a pit to take me, and have hidden snares for my feet.

mkjv@Jeremiah:18:23 @ Yet, LORD, You know all their counsel against me to kill [me]. Do not forgive their iniquity, nor blot out their sin from Your sight, but let them be overthrown before You; deal with them in the time of Your anger.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:1 @ So says the LORD, Go and get a potter's earthen jar, and [assemble] from the elders of the people and of the elders of the priests.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:2 @ And go out to the valley of the son of Hinnom by the entry of Potsherd Gate. And there declare the words that I shall tell you.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:3 @ And say, Hear the Word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and people of Jerusalem. So says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring evil on this place, which shall cause the ears of him who hears it to tingle.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:4 @ Because they have forsaken Me, and have made this place [famous] and have burned incense in it to other gods whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:5 @ They have also built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire [for] burnt offerings to Baal, which I never commanded nor spoke, nor did [it] come into My mind.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:6 @ Therefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but, The Valley of Slaughter.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:7 @ And I will make the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem come to nothing in this place, and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of those who seek their lives. And I will give their dead bodies to be food for the birds of the heavens, and for the animals of the earth.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:8 @ And I will make this city a waste and a hissing. Everyone who passes by shall be amazed and shall hiss because of all its plagues.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:9 @ And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall each one eat the flesh of his friend in the siege and distress, with which their enemies and those who seek their lives shall distress them.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:10 @ Then you shall break the jar before the eyes of the men who go with you,

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:11 @ and shall say to them, So says the LORD of hosts, Even so I will break this people of this city, as [one] breaks a potter's vessel that cannot be made whole again. And they shall bury [them in Tophet until there is no place left] to bury.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:12 @ I will do this to this place, says the LORD, and to its people, and make this city as Tophet.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:13 @ And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be as defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses on whose roofs they have burned incense to all the host of the heavens, and have poured out drink offerings to other gods.

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:14 @ Then Jeremiah came from Tophet, where the LORD had sent him to prophesy. And he stood in the court of the LORD's house, and said to all the people,

mkjv@Jeremiah:19:15 @ So says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring on this city and on all its towns all the evil that I have spoken against it, because they have hardened their necks so that they might not hear My words.
