Job:16-17

updv@Job:16:1 @ Then Job answered and said,

updv@Job:16:2 @ I have heard many such things: Miserable comforters are all of you(note:){+}(:note).

updv@Job:16:3 @ Will vain words have an end? Or what provokes you that you answer?

updv@Job:16:4 @ I also could speak as you(note:){+}(:note) do; If your{+} soul were in my soul's stead, I could join words together against you{+}, And shake my head at you{+}.

updv@Job:16:5 @ [But] I would strengthen you(note:){+}(:note) with my mouth, And the solace of my lips would assuage [your{+} grief].

updv@Job:16:6 @ Though I speak, my grief is not assuaged; And though I forbear, what am I eased?

updv@Job:16:7 @ But now he has made me weary: You have made desolate all my company.

updv@Job:16:8 @ And you have shriveled me up, [which] is a witness [against me]: And my leanness rises up against me, It testifies to my face.

updv@Job:16:9 @ He has torn me in his wrath, and persecuted me; He has gnashed on me with his teeth: My adversary sharpens his eyes on me.

updv@Job:16:10 @ They have gaped on me with their mouth; They have struck me on the cheek reproachfully: They gather themselves together against me.

updv@Job:16:11 @ God delivers me to the ungodly, And casts me into the hands of the wicked.

updv@Job:16:12 @ I was at ease, and he broke me apart; Yes, he has taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces: He has also set me up for his mark.

updv@Job:16:13 @ His archers circle me round about; He splits my reins apart, and does not spare; He pours out my gall on the ground.

updv@Job:16:14 @ He breaks me with breach on breach; He runs on me like a giant.

updv@Job:16:15 @ I have sewed sackcloth on my skin, And have laid my horn in the dust.

updv@Job:16:16 @ My face is red with weeping, And on my eyelids is the shadow of death;

updv@Job:16:17 @ Although there is no violence in my hands, And my prayer is pure.

updv@Job:16:18 @ O earth, do not cover my blood, And let my cry have no [resting]-place.

updv@Job:16:19 @ Even now, look, my witness is in heaven, And he who vouches for me is on high.

updv@Job:16:20 @ My companions scoff at me: [But] my eye pours out tears to God,

updv@Job:16:21 @ That he would maintain the right of a [noble] man with God, And of a son of man with his fellow man!

updv@Job:16:22 @ For when a few years have come, I will go the way from where I will not return.

updv@Job:17:1 @ My spirit is consumed, my days are extinct, Graves are [ready] for me.

updv@Job:17:2 @ Surely there are mockers with me, And my eye dwells on their provocation.

updv@Job:17:3 @ Give now a pledge, be surety for me with yourself; Who is there that will strike hands with me?

updv@Job:17:4 @ For you have hid their heart from understanding: Therefore you will not exalt [them].

updv@Job:17:5 @ He who denounces his companions for a prey, Even the eyes of his sons will fail.

updv@Job:17:6 @ But he has made me a byword of the people; And they spit in my face.

updv@Job:17:7 @ My eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, And all my members are as a shadow.

updv@Job:17:8 @ Upright men will be astonished at this, And the innocent will stir himself up against the godless.

updv@Job:17:9 @ Yet will the righteous hold on his way, And he who has clean hands will wax stronger and stronger.

updv@Job:17:10 @ But as for all of you(note:){+}(:note), come on now again; And I will not find a wise man among you{+}.

updv@Job:17:11 @ My days are past, my purposes are broken off, Even the thoughts of my heart.

updv@Job:17:12 @ They change the night into day: The light, [say they], is near to the darkness.

updv@Job:17:13 @ If I look for Sheol as my house; If I have spread my couch in the darkness;

updv@Job:17:14 @ If I have said to corruption, You are my father; To the worm, [You are] my mother, and my sister;

updv@Job:17:15 @ Where then is my hope? And as for my hope, who will see it?

updv@Job:17:16 @ You will go down with me to Sheol. Shall we not go down together to the dust?

updv@Job:18:1 @ Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said,
