* These things said he : and after that he saith unto them , Our friend Lazarus (note :)The Jews used a milder kind of speech and called death «sleep », and this same manner of speech is found in other languages , who call the place of burial where the dead are laid waiting for the resurrection a «sleeping place ».(:note ) sleepeth ; but I go , that I may awake him out of sleep . * Then said his disciples , Lord , if he sleepe , he shalbe safe . * Howbeit , Iesus spake of his death : but they thought that he had spoken of the naturall sleepe .
