* Now before the feast of the passover , when Jesus knew (5761 ) that his hour was come (5754 ) that he should depart (5632 ) out of this world unto the Father , having loved (5660 ) his own which were in the world , he loved (5656 ) them unto the end . * And supper being ended (5637 ), the devil having now put (5761 ) into the heart of Judas Iscariot , Simons son , to betray (5632 ) him ; * Jesus knowing (5761 ) that the Father had given (5758 ) all things into his hands , and that he was come (5627 ) from God , and went (5719 ) to God ; * He riseth (5743 ) from supper , and laid aside (5719 ) his garments ; and took (5631 ) a towel , and girded (5656 ) himself . * After that he poureth (5719 ) water into a bason , and began (5662 ) to wash (5721 ) the disciples feet , and to wipe (5721 ) them with the towel wherewith he was (5713 ) girded (5772 ). * Then cometh he (5736 ) to Simon Peter : and Peter saith (5719 ) unto him , Lord , dost thou wash (5719 ) my feet ? * Jesus answered (5662 ) and said (5627 ) unto him , What I do (5719 ) thou knowest (5758 ) not now ; but thou shalt know (5695 ) hereafter . * Peter saith (5719 ) unto him , Thou shalt never wash (5661 ) my feet . Jesus answered (5662 ) him , If I wash (5661 ) thee not , thou hast (5719 ) no part with me . * Simon Peter saith (5719 ) unto him , Lord , not my feet only , but also my hands and my head . * Jesus saith (5719 ) to him , He that is washed (5772 ) needeth not (5719 ) save to wash (5670 ) his feet , but is (5748 ) clean every whit : and ye are (5748 ) clean , but not all . * For he knew (5715 ) who should betray (5723 ) him ; therefore said he (5627 ), Ye are (5748 ) not all clean . * So after he had washed (5656 ) their feet , and had taken (5627 ) his garments , and was set down (5631 ) again , he said (5627 ) unto them , Know ye (5719 ) (5720 ) what I have done (5758 ) to you ? * Ye call (5719 ) me Master and Lord : and ye say (5719 ) well ; for so I am (5748 ). * If I then , your Lord and Master , have washed (5656 ) your feet ; ye also ought (5719 ) to wash (5721 ) one anothers feet . * For I have given (5656 ) you an example , that ye should do (5725 ) as I have done (5656 ) to you . * Verily , verily , I say (5719 ) unto you , The servant is (5748 ) not greater than his lord ; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent (5660 ) him . * If ye know (5758 ) these things , happy are ye (5748 ) if ye do (5725 ) them . * I speak (5719 ) not of you all : I know (5758 ) whom I have chosen (5668 ): but that the scripture may be fulfilled (5686 ), He that eateth (5723 ) bread with me hath lifted up (5656 ) his heel against me . * Now I tell (5719 ) you before it come (5635 ), that , when it is come to pass (5638 ), ye may believe (5661 ) that I am (5748 ) he . * Verily , verily , I say (5719 ) unto you , He that receiveth (5723 ) whomsoever I send (5661 ) receiveth (5719 ) me ; and he that receiveth (5723 ) me receiveth (5719 ) him that sent (5660 ) me . * When Jesus had thus said (5631 ), he was troubled (5681 ) in spirit , and testified (5656 ), and said (5627 ), Verily , verily , I say (5719 ) unto you , that one of you shall betray (5692 ) me . * Then the disciples looked (5707 ) one on another , doubting (5734 ) of whom he spake (5719 ). * Now there was (5713 ) leaning (5740 ) on Jesus bosom one of his disciples , whom Jesus loved (5707 ). * Simon Peter therefore beckoned (5719 ) to him , that he should ask (5635 ) who it should be (5751 ) of whom he spake (5719 ). * He then lying on (5631 ) Jesus breast saith (5719 ) unto him , Lord , who is it (5748 )? * Jesus answered (5736 ), He it is (5748 ), to whom I shall give (5692 ) a sop , when I have dipped (5660 ) it . And when he had dipped (5660 ) the sop , he gave (5719 ) it to Judas Iscariot , the son of Simon . * And after the sop Satan entered (5627 ) into him . Then said (5719 ) Jesus unto him , That thou doest (5719 ), do (5657 ) quickly . * Now no man at the table (5740 ) knew (5627 ) for what intent he spake (5627 ) this unto him . * For some of them thought (5707 ), because Judas had (5707 ) the bag , that Jesus had said (5719 ) unto him , Buy (5657 ) those things that we have (5719 ) need of against the feast ; or , that he should give (5632 ) something to the poor . * He then having received (5631 ) the sop went immediately out (5627 ): and it was (5713 ) night . * Therefore , when he was gone out (5627 ), Jesus said (5719 ), Now is the Son of man glorified (5681 ), and God is glorified (5681 ) in him . * If God be glorified (5681 ) in him , God shall also glorify (5692 ) him in himself , and shall straightway glorify (5692 ) him . * Little children , yet a little while I am (5748 ) with you . Ye shall seek (5692 ) me : and as I said (5627 ) unto the Jews , Whither I go (5719 ), ye cannot (5736 ) come (5629 ); so now I say (5719 ) to you . * A new commandment I give (5719 ) unto you , That ye love (5725 ) one another ; as I have loved (5656 ) you , that ye also love (5725 ) one another . * By this shall all men know (5695 ) that ye are (5748 ) my disciples , if ye have (5725 ) love one to another . * Simon Peter said (5719 ) unto him , Lord , whither goest (5719 ) thou ? Verily , verily , I say (5719 ) unto thee , The cock shall not crow (5692 ), till thou hast denied (5695 ) me thrice . * Let not your heart be troubled (5744 ): ye believe (5719 ) (5720 ) in God , believe (5719 ) (5720 ) also in me . * In my Fathers house are (5748 ) many mansions : if it were not so , I would have told (5627 ) you . I go (5736 ) to prepare (5658 ) a place for you . * And if I go (5680 ) and prepare (5661 ) a place for you , I will come (5736 ) again , and receive (5695 ) you unto myself ; that where I am (5748 ), there ye may be (5753 ) also . * And whither I go (5719 ) ye know (5758 ), and the way ye know (5758 ). * Thomas saith (5719 ) unto him , Lord , we know (5758 ) not whither thou goest (5719 ); and how can we (5736 ) know (5760 ) the way ? * Jesus saith (5719 ) unto him , I am (5748 ) the way , the truth , and the life : no man cometh (5736 ) unto the Father , but by me . * If ye had known (5715 ) me , ye should have known (5715 ) my Father also : and from henceforth ye know (5719 ) him , and have seen (5758 ) him . * Philip saith (5719 ) unto him , Lord , shew (5657 ) us the Father , and it sufficeth (5719 ) us . * Jesus saith (5719 ) unto him , Have I been (5748 ) so long time with you , and yet hast thou not known (5758 ) me , Philip ? he that hath seen (5761 ) me hath seen (5758 ) the Father ; and how sayest (5719 ) thou then , Shew (5657 ) us the Father ? * Believest thou (5719 ) not that I am (5748 ) in the Father , and the Father in me ? the words that I speak (5719 ) unto you I speak (5719 ) not of myself : but the Father that dwelleth (5723 ) in me , he doeth (5719 ) the works . * Believe (5720 ) me that I am in the Father , and the Father in me : or else believe (5720 ) me for the very works sake . * Verily , verily , I say (5719 ) unto you , He that believeth (5723 ) on me , the works that I do (5719 ) shall he do (5692 ) also ; and greater works than these shall he do (5692 ); because I go (5736 ) unto my Father . * And whatsoever ye shall ask (5661 ) in my name , that will I do (5692 ), that the Father may be glorified (5686 ) in the Son . * If ye shall ask (5661 ) any thing in my name , I will do (5692 ) it . * If ye love (5725 ) me , keep (5657 ) my commandments . * And I will pray (5692 ) the Father , and he shall give (5692 ) you another Comforter , that he may abide (5725 ) with you for ever ; * Even the Spirit of truth ; whom the world cannot (5736 ) receive (5629 ), because it seeth (5719 ) him not , neither knoweth (5719 ) him : but ye know (5719 ) him ; for he dwelleth (5719 ) with you , and shall be (5704 ) in you . * I will not leave (5692 ) you comfortless : I will come (5736 ) to you . * Yet a little while , and the world seeth (5719 ) me no more ; but ye see (5719 ) me : because I live (5719 ), ye shall live (5695 ) also . * At that day ye shall know (5695 ) that I am in my Father , and ye in me , and I in you . * He that hath (5723 ) my commandments , and keepeth (5723 ) them , he it is (5748 ) that loveth (5723 ) me : and he that loveth (5723 ) me shall be loved (5701 ) of my Father , and I will love (5692 ) him , and will manifest (5692 ) myself to him . * Judas saith (5719 ) unto him , not Iscariot , Lord , how is it (5754 ) that thou wilt (5719 ) manifest (5721 ) thyself unto us , and not unto the world ? * Jesus answered (5662 ) and said (5627 ) unto him , If a man love (5725 ) me , he will keep (5692 ) my words : and my Father will love (5692 ) him , and we will come (5695 ) unto him , and make (5692 ) our abode with him . * He that loveth (5723 ) me not keepeth (5719 ) not my sayings : and the word which ye hear (5719 ) is (5748 ) not mine , but the Fathers which sent (5660 ) me . * These things have I spoken (5758 ) unto you , being yet present (5723 ) with you . * But the Comforter , which is the Holy Ghost , whom the Father will send (5692 ) in my name , he shall teach (5692 ) you all things , and bring all things to your remembrance (5692 ), whatsoever I have said (5627 ) unto you . * Peace I leave (5719 ) with you , my peace I give (5719 ) unto you : not as the world giveth (5719 ), give (5719 ) I unto you . Let not your heart be troubled (5744 ), neither let it be afraid (5720 ). * Ye have heard (5656 ) how I said (5627 ) unto you , I go away (5719 ), and come (5736 ) again unto you . If ye loved (5707 ) me , ye would rejoice (5644 ), because I said (5627 ), I go (5736 ) unto the Father : for my Father is (5748 ) greater than I . * And now I have told (5758 ) you before it come to pass (5635 ), that , when it is come to pass (5638 ), ye might believe (5661 ). * Hereafter I will not talk (5692 ) much with you : for the prince of this world cometh (5736 ), and hath (5719 ) nothing in me . * But that the world may know (5632 ) that I love (5719 ) the Father ; and as the Father gave me commandment (5662 ), even so I do (5719 ). Arise (5728 ), let us go (5725 ) hence . * I am (5748 ) the true vine , and my Father is (5748 ) the husbandman .
