John:14-15

mnt@John:14:1 @ "Let not your hearts be troubled. You trust in God, trust in me also.

mnt@John:14:2 @ In my Fathers house there are many rooms If it were not so, would I have told you that I went to prepare a place for you?

mnt@John:14:3 @ I will return and will take you to be with me, so that where I am you may be also.

mnt@John:14:4 @ And the way is known to you all, where I am going."

mnt@John:14:5 @ "We do not know where you are going Lord," said Thomas, "so how can we know the way?"

mnt@John:14:6 @ Jesus answered him. "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man ever comes to the Father but by me.

mnt@John:14:7 @ If you had known me, you would have known my Father too; from now on you know him and have seen him."

mnt@John:14:8 @ "Lord," said Philip, "cause us to see the Father, and we shall be satisfied."

mnt@John:14:9 @ "Have I been so long among you, and yet you, Philip, have you not recognized me? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, Cause us to see the Father?

mnt@John:14:10 @ "Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I speak to you I speak not of myself; but the Father, who ever dwells in me, is doing his own work.

mnt@John:14:11 @ "Believe me, all of you, that I am in the Father and the Father in me, or else believe me for the very words sake.

mnt@John:14:12 @ "I tell you solemnly that he who trusts in me shall himself do the works that I am doing; and still greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.

mnt@John:14:13 @ "And whatever you ask in my name I will do; that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

mnt@John:14:14 @ "If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.

mnt@John:14:15 @ "If you love me, you will obey my commandments,

mnt@John:14:16 @ "and I will pray the Father,

mnt@John:14:17 @ "and he will give you another Comforter to be with you forever, the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot receive him because it does not see him nor know him, but you know him, for he is ever with you and within you.

mnt@John:14:18 @ "I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you.

mnt@John:14:19 @ "Yet a little while and the world shall see me no more, but you shall see me; because I live, you, too, shall live.

mnt@John:14:20 @ "At that day you shall understand that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

mnt@John:14:21 @ "It is he who has my commands and obeys them that loves me; and he who loves me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him."

mnt@John:14:22 @ "How is it, Lord," said Judas (not Iscariot) "that you will manifest yourself to us and not to the world?"

mnt@John:14:23 @ Jesus replied."If any loves me he will obey my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

mnt@John:14:24 @ "He that loves me not does not obey words, and yet the words to which you are listening are not mine, but the Fathers who sent me.

mnt@John:14:25 @ "All this I told you while still with you.

mnt@John:14:26 @ "But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and bring to your remembrance everything that I have told you.

mnt@John:14:27 @ "Peace I leave with you. My own peace I give to you. It is not the worlds Peace I give you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

mnt@John:14:28 @ "You heard me tell you, I am going away, and yet I am coming to you. If you loved me you would have been glad because I said I am going to the Father, for my Father is greater than I.

mnt@John:14:29 @ "And now I tell you this before it happens, so that when it does happen you may believe.

mnt@John:14:30 @ "I shall not talk with you much more, for the Prince of this world is coming.

mnt@John:14:31 @ "He has nothing in me, but in his coming the world may know that I love the Father, and that I do just as the Father commanded. Rise, let us be going!"

mnt@John:15:1 @ "I am the vine, and my Father the vine-grower.

mnt@John:15:2 @ "He cuts back any of my branches that bear no fruit, and prunes every fruit-bearing branch, that it may bear more.

mnt@John:15:3 @ "Now you are clean through the word which I have spoken to you.

mnt@John:15:4 @ "Abide in me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself except it abide in the vine, no more can you, unless you abide in me.

mnt@John:15:5 @ "I am the Vine you are the branches. He who abides in me and I in him, bears abundant fruit; because apart from me you can do nothing.

mnt@John:15:6 @ "If any one does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers. Such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire and burned.

mnt@John:15:7 @ "If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever your will is, and it shall be yours.

mnt@John:15:8 @ "By this is my Father glorified, by your bearing abundant fruit, and so being my disciples.

mnt@John:15:9 @ "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love.

mnt@John:15:10 @ "If you obey my commands you will abide in my love, just as I have obeyed my Fathers commands and abide in his love.

mnt@John:15:11 @ "I have told you these things that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

mnt@John:15:12 @ "This is my command, Love one another as I have loved you.

mnt@John:15:13 @ "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

mnt@John:15:14 @ "You are my friends if you do what I command you.

mnt@John:15:15 @ "I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have learned from my Father.

mnt@John:15:16 @ "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

mnt@John:15:17 @ "This is my command. to love one another. If the worlds hates you,

mnt@John:15:18 @ "do not forget that it hated me first.

mnt@John:15:19 @ "If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, for that reason the world hates you.

mnt@John:15:20 @ "Remember what I told you, A slave is not better than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you. If they have obeyed my word, they will obey yours also.

mnt@John:15:21 @ "But they will do all these things to you for my names sake, because they know not Him who sent me.

mnt@John:15:22 @ "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

mnt@John:15:23 @ "He who hates me hates my Father also.

mnt@John:15:24 @ "If I had not done among them such works as none ever did, they would have had no sin; but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.

mnt@John:15:25 @ "And so is fulfilled the word written in their Law, They hate me without cause.

mnt@John:15:26 @ "When the Comforter is come whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth who comes forth from the Father, he will bear witness of me;

mnt@John:15:27 @ "and you to shall bear witness because you have been with me from the first.

mnt@John:16:1 @ "I have told you all this so that you may not stumble.
