* After this , Jesus , knowing that all things were now accomplished , said in fulfillment of the scripture , I thirst . * Now there was a vessel full of vinegar set there : and they soaked a sponge with vinegar , and put it upon a hyssop branch , and held it to his mouth . * When Jesus received the vinegar , he said , It is finished : and he bowed his head , and gave up his spirit .
