* When evening came on , his disciples went down to the sea . * There they got in a boat , and started across the sea for Capernaum . The darkness had already fallen , * Jesus had not yet come to them , and the sea began to rise , because a strong wind was blowing . * After they had rowed three or four miles , they saw Jesus walking upon the sea , and drawing near to the boat , and they were terrified ; * but he said to them , "It is I , be not afraid ." * Then they were willing to take him on board , and immediately the boat reached the shore they were making for . * The crowd that remained on the other side of the sea had seen that there was only one small boat there , and that Jesus had not gone aboard with his disciples , but that his disciples had gone away by themselves . * So , on the following day , when boats came from Tiberias near the place were they had eaten bread , after the Lord had given thanks , they got into the boats themselves , * when they saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there , and went to Capernaum to look for Jesus .
