Luke:1:68-
Seeker Overlay ON
*
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel ;
for he hath visited (
5662 )
and redeemed his people (
5656 ),
*
And hath raised up (
5656 )
an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David ;
*
As he spake (
5656 )
by the mouth of his holy prophets ,
which have been since the world began :
*
That we should be saved from our enemies ,
and from the hand of all that hate (
5723 )
us ;
*
To perform (
5658 )
the mercy promised to our fathers ,
and to remember (
5683 )
his holy covenant ;
*
The oath which he sware (
5656 )
to our father Abraham ,
*
That he would grant (
5629 )
unto us ,
that we being delivered (
5685 )
out of the hand of our enemies might serve (
5721 )
him without fear ,
*
In holiness and righteousness before him ,
all the days of our life .
*
And thou ,
child ,
shalt be called (
5701 )
the prophet of the Highest :
for thou shalt go (
5695 )
before the face of the Lord to prepare (
5658 )
his ways ;
*
To give (
5629 )
knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins ,
*
Through the tender mercy of our God ;
whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited (
5662 )
us ,
*
To give light (
5658 )
to them that sit (
5740 )
in darkness and in the shadow of death ,
to guide (
5658 )
our feet into the way of peace .
*
And the child grew (
5707 ),
and waxed strong (
5712 )
in spirit ,
and was (
5713 )
in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel .
*
After these things the Lord appointed (
5656 )
other seventy also ,
and sent (
5656 )
them two and two before his face into every city and place ,
whither (
5625 )
he himself would (
5707 )
come (
5738 ).
*
Therefore said he (
5707 )
unto them ,
The harvest truly is great ,
but the labourers are few :
pray ye (
5676 )
therefore the Lord of the harvest ,
that he would send forth (
5725 )
labourers into his harvest .
*
Go your ways (
5720 ):
behold (
5628 ),
I send you forth (
5719 )
as lambs among wolves .
*
Carry (
5720 )
neither purse ,
nor scrip ,
nor shoes :
and salute (
5667 )
no man by the way .
*
And into whatsoever house ye enter (
5741 ),
first say (
5720 ),
Peace be to this house .
*
And if the son of peace be (
5753 )
there ,
your peace shall rest (
5695 )
upon it :
if not ,
it shall turn to you again (
5692 ).
*
And in the same house remain (
5720 ),
eating (
5723 )
and drinking (
5723 )
such things as they give :
for the labourer is (
5748 )
worthy of his hire .
Go (
5720 )
not from house to house .
*
And into whatsoever city ye enter (
5741 ),
and they receive (
5741 )
you ,
eat such things (
5720 )
as are set before (
5746 )
you :
*
And heal (
5720 )
the sick that are therein ,
and say (
5720 )
unto them ,
The kingdom of God is come nigh (
5758 )
unto you .
*
But into whatsoever city ye enter (
5741 ),
and they receive (
5741 )
you not ,
go your ways out (
5631 )
into the streets of the same ,
and say (
5628 ),
*
Even the very dust of your city ,
which cleaveth (
5685 )
on us ,
we do wipe off (
5731 )
against you :
notwithstanding be ye sure (
5720 )
of this ,
that the kingdom of God is come nigh (
5758 )
unto you .
*
But I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
that it shall be (
5704 )
more tolerable in that day for Sodom ,
than for that city .
*
Woe unto thee ,
Chorazin !
woe unto thee ,
Bethsaida !
for if the mighty works had been done (
5633 )
in Tyre and Sidon ,
which have been done (
5637 )
in you ,
they had a great while ago repented (
5656 ),
sitting (
5740 )
in sackcloth and ashes .
*
But it shall be (
5704 )
more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment ,
than for you .
*
And thou ,
Capernaum ,
which art exalted (
5685 )
to heaven ,
shalt be thrust down (
5701 )
to hell .
*
He that heareth (
5723 )
you heareth (
5719 )
me ;
and he that despiseth (
5723 )
you despiseth (
5719 )
me ;
and he that despiseth (
5723 )
me despiseth (
5719 )
him that sent (
5660 )
me .
*
And the seventy returned again (
5656 )
with joy ,
saying (
5723 ),
Lord ,
even the devils are subject (
5743 )
unto us through thy name .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto them ,
I beheld (
5707 )
Satan as lightning fall (
5631 )
from heaven .
*
Behold (
5628 ),
I give (
5719 )
unto you power to tread (
5721 )
on serpents and scorpions ,
and over all the power of the enemy :
and nothing shall by any means hurt (
5661 ) (
5625 ) (
5692 )
you .
*
Notwithstanding in this rejoice (
5720 )
not ,
that the spirits are subject (
5743 )
unto you ;
but rather rejoice (
5720 ),
because your names are written (
5648 )
in heaven .
*
In that hour Jesus rejoiced in (
5662 )
spirit ,
and said (
5627 ),
I thank (
5731 )
thee ,
O Father ,
Lord of heaven and earth ,
that thou hast hid (
5656 )
these things from the wise and prudent ,
and hast revealed (
5656 )
them unto babes :
even so ,
Father ;
for so it seemed (
5633 )
good in thy sight .
*
All things are delivered (
5681 )
to me of my Father :
and no man knoweth (
5719 )
who the Son is (
5748 ),
but the Father ;
and who the Father is (
5748 ),
but the Son ,
and he to whom the Son will (
5741 )
reveal (
5658 )
him .
*
And he turned him (
5651 )
unto his disciples ,
and said (
5627 )
privately ,
Blessed are the eyes which see (
5723 )
the things that ye see (
5719 ):
*
For I tell (
5719 )
you ,
that many prophets and kings have desired (
5656 )
to see (
5629 )
those things which ye see (
5719 ),
and have not seen (
5627 )
them ;
and to hear (
5658 )
those things which ye hear (
5719 ),
and have not heard (
5656 )
them .
*
And ,
behold (
5628 ),
a certain lawyer stood up (
5627 ),
and tempted (
5723 )
him ,
saying (
5723 ),
Master ,
what shall I do (
5660 )
to inherit (
5692 )
eternal life ?
*
He said (
5627 )
unto him ,
What is written (
5769 )
in the law ?
how readest thou (
5719 )?
*
And he answering (
5679 )
said (
5627 ),
Thou shalt love (
5692 )
the Lord thy God with all thy heart ,
and with all thy soul ,
and with all thy strength ,
and with all thy mind ;
and thy neighbour as thyself .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Thou hast answered (
5662 )
right :
this do (
5720 ),
and thou shalt live (
5692 ).
*
But he ,
willing (
5723 )
to justify (
5721 )
himself ,
said (
5627 )
unto Jesus ,
And who is (
5748 )
my neighbour ?
*
And Jesus answering (
5631 )
said (
5627 ),
A certain man went down (
5707 )
from Jerusalem to Jericho ,
and fell among (
5627 )
thieves ,
which stripped him of his raiment (
5660 ),
and wounded (
5631 )
him ,
and departed (
5627 ),
leaving (
5631 )
him half dead (
5723 ).
*
And by chance there came down (
5707 )
a certain priest that way :
and when he saw (
5631 )
him ,
he passed by on the other side (
5627 ).
*
And likewise a Levite ,
when he was (
5637 )
at the place ,
came (
5631 )
and looked (
5631 )
on him ,
and passed by on the other side (
5627 ).
*
But a certain Samaritan ,
as he journeyed (
5723 ),
came (
5627 )
where he was :
and when he saw (
5631 )
him ,
he had compassion (
5675 )
on him ,
*
And went (
5631 )
to him ,
and bound up (
5656 )
his wounds ,
pouring in (
5723 )
oil and wine ,
and set (
5660 )
him on his own beast ,
and brought (
5627 )
him to an inn ,
and took care (
5675 )
of him .
*
And on the morrow when he departed (
5631 ),
he took out (
5631 )
two pence ,
and gave (
5656 )
them to the host ,
and said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Take care (
5682 )
of him ;
and whatsoever thou spendest more (
5661 ),
when I come again (
5738 ),
I will repay (
5692 )
thee .
*
Which now of these three ,
thinkest (
5719 )
thou ,
was (
5755 )
neighbour unto him that fell (
5631 )
among the thieves ?
*
And he said (
5627 ),
He that shewed (
5660 )
mercy on him .
Then said (
5627 )
Jesus unto him ,
Go (
5737 ),
and do (
5720 )
thou likewise .
*
Now it came to pass (
5633 ),
as they went (
5738 ),
that he entered (
5627 )
into a certain village :
and a certain woman named Martha received (
5662 )
him into her house .
*
And she had (
5713 )
a sister called (
5746 )
Mary ,
which also sat (
5660 )
at Jesus feet ,
and heard (
5707 )
his word .
*
But Martha was cumbered (
5712 )
about much serving ,
and came to him (
5631 ),
and said (
5627 ),
Lord ,
dost thou not care (
5719 )
that my sister hath left (
5627 )
me to serve (
5721 )
alone ?
bid (
5628 )
her therefore that she help (
5638 )
me .
*
And Jesus answered (
5679 )
and said (
5627 )
unto her ,
Martha ,
Martha ,
thou art careful (
5719 )
and troubled (
5743 )
about many things :
*
But one thing is (
5748 )
needful :
and Mary hath chosen (
5668 )
that good part ,
which shall not be taken away (
5701 )
from her .
*
And it came to pass (
5633 ),
that ,
as he was (
5750 )
praying (
5740 )
in a certain place ,
when he ceased (
5668 ),
one of his disciples said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Lord ,
teach (
5657 )
us to pray (
5738 ),
as John also taught (
5656 )
his disciples .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto them ,
When ye pray (
5741 ),
say (
5720 ),
Our Father which art in heaven ,
Hallowed be (
5682 )
thy name .
Thy kingdom come (
5628 ).
Thy will be done (
5676 ),
as in heaven ,
so in earth .
*
Give (
5720 )
us day by day our daily bread .
*
And forgive (
5628 )
us our sins ;
for we also forgive (
5719 )
every one that is indebted (
5723 )
to us .
And lead (
5661 )
us not into temptation ;
but deliver (
5663 )
us from evil .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Which of you shall have (
5692 )
a friend ,
and shall go (
5695 )
unto him at midnight ,
and say (
5632 )
unto him ,
Friend ,
lend (
5657 )
me three loaves ;
*
For a friend of mine in his journey is come (
5633 )
to me ,
and I have (
5719 )
nothing to set before (
5692 )
him ?
*
And he from within shall answer (
5679 )
and say (
5632 ),
Trouble (
5720 )
me not :
the door is now shut (
5769 ),
and my children are (
5748 )
with me in bed ;
I cannot (
5736 )
rise (
5631 )
and give (
5629 )
thee .
*
I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
Though he will not rise (
5685 )
and give (
5692 )
him ,
because he is (
5750 )
his friend ,
yet because of his importunity he will rise (
5631 )
and give (
5692 )
him as many as he needeth (
5719 ).
*
And I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
Ask (
5720 ),
and it shall be given (
5701 )
you ;
seek (
5720 ),
and ye shall find (
5692 );
knock (
5720 ),
and it shall be opened (
5691 )
unto you .
*
For every one that asketh (
5723 )
receiveth (
5719 );
and he that seeketh (
5723 )
findeth (
5719 );
and to him that knocketh (
5723 )
it shall be opened (
5691 ).
*
If a son shall ask (
5692 )
bread of any of you that is a father ,
will he give (
5692 )
him a stone ?
or if he ask a fish ,
will he for a fish give (
5692 )
him a serpent ?
*
Or if he shall ask (
5661 )
an egg ,
will he offer (
5692 )
him a scorpion ?
*
If ye then ,
being (
5723 )
evil ,
know (
5758 )
how to give (
5721 )
good gifts unto your children :
how much more shall your heavenly Father give (
5692 )
the Holy Spirit to them that ask (
5723 )
him ?
*
And he was (
5713 )
casting out (
5723 )
a devil ,
and it was (
5713 )
dumb .
And it came to pass (
5633 ),
when the devil was gone out (
5631 ),
the dumb spake (
5656 );
and the people wondered (
5656 ).
*
But some of them said (
5627 ),
He casteth out (
5719 )
devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils .
*
And others ,
tempting (
5723 )
him ,
sought (
5707 )
of him a sign from heaven .
*
But he ,
knowing (
5761 )
their thoughts ,
said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Every kingdom divided (
5685 )
against itself is brought to desolation (
5743 );
and a house divided against a house falleth (
5719 ).
*
If Satan also be divided (
5681 )
against himself ,
how shall his kingdom stand (
5701 )?
because ye say (
5719 )
that I cast out (
5721 )
devils through Beelzebub .
*
And if I by Beelzebub cast out (
5719 )
devils ,
by whom do your sons cast them out (
5719 )?
therefore shall they be (
5704 )
your judges .
*
But if I with the finger of God cast out (
5719 )
devils ,
no doubt the kingdom of God is come (
5656 )
upon you .
*
When a strong man armed (
5772 )
keepeth (
5725 )
his palace ,
his goods (
5723 )
are (
5748 )
in peace :
*
But when a stronger than he shall come upon him (
5631 ),
and overcome (
5661 )
him ,
he taketh (
5719 )
from him all his armour wherein he trusted (
5714 ),
and divideth (
5719 )
his spoils .
*
He that is (
5752 )
not with me is (
5748 )
against me :
and he that gathereth (
5723 )
not with me scattereth (
5719 ).
*
When the unclean spirit is gone (
5632 )
out of a man ,
he walketh (
5736 )
through dry places ,
seeking (
5723 )
rest ;
and finding (
5723 )
none ,
he saith (
5719 ),
I will return (
5692 )
unto my house whence I came out (
5627 ).
*
And when he cometh (
5631 ),
he findeth (
5719 )
it swept (
5772 )
and garnished (
5772 ).
*
Then goeth he (
5736 ),
and taketh (
5719 )
to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself ;
and they enter in (
5631 ),
and dwell (
5719 )
there :
and the last state of that man is (
5736 )
worse than the first .
*
And it came to pass (
5633 ),
as he spake (
5721 )
these things ,
a certain woman of the company lifted up (
5660 )
her voice ,
and said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Blessed is the womb that bare (
5660 )
thee ,
and the paps which thou hast sucked (
5656 ).
*
But he said (
5627 ),
Yea rather ,
blessed are they that hear (
5723 )
the word of God ,
and keep (
5723 )
it .
*
And when the people were gathered thick together (
5746 ),
he began (
5662 )
to say (
5721 ),
This is (
5748 )
an evil generation :
they seek (
5719 )
a sign ;
and there shall no sign be given (
5701 )
it ,
but the sign of Jonas the prophet .
*
For as Jonas was (
5633 )
a sign unto the Ninevites ,
so shall also the Son of man be (
5704 )
to this generation .
*
The queen of the south shall rise up (
5701 )
in the judgment with the men of this generation ,
and condemn (
5692 )
them :
for she came (
5627 )
from the utmost parts of the earth to hear (
5658 )
the wisdom of Solomon ;
and ,
behold (
5628 ),
a greater than Solomon is here .
*
The men of Nineve shall rise up (
5698 )
in the judgment with this generation ,
and shall condemn (
5692 )
it :
for they repented (
5656 )
at the preaching of Jonas ;
and ,
behold (
5628 ),
a greater than Jonas is here .
*
No man ,
when he hath lighted (
5660 )
a candle ,
putteth (
5719 )
it in a secret place ,
neither under a bushel ,
but on a candlestick ,
that they which come in (
5740 )
may see (
5725 )
the light .
*
The light of the body is (
5748 )
the eye :
therefore when thine eye is (
5753 )
single ,
thy whole body also is (
5748 )
full of light ;
but when thine eye is (
5753 )
evil ,
thy body also is full of darkness .
*
Take heed (
5720 )
therefore that the light which is in thee be (
5748 )
not darkness .
*
If thy whole body therefore be full of light ,
having (
5723 )
no part dark ,
the whole shall be (
5704 )
full of light ,
as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light (
5725 ).
*
And as he spake (
5658 ),
a certain Pharisee besought (
5707 )
him to dine (
5661 )
with him :
and he went in (
5631 ),
and sat down to meat (
5627 ).
*
And when the Pharisee saw (
5631 )
it ,
he marvelled (
5656 )
that he had not first washed (
5681 )
before dinner .
*
And the Lord said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Now do ye Pharisees make clean (
5719 )
the outside of the cup and the platter ;
but your inward part is full (
5719 )
of ravening and wickedness .
*
Ye fools ,
did not he that made (
5660 )
that which is without make (
5656 )
that which is within also ?
*
But rather give (
5628 )
alms of such things as ye have (
5752 );
and ,
behold (
5628 ),
all things are (
5748 )
clean unto you .
*
But woe unto you ,
Pharisees !
for ye tithe (
5719 )
mint and rue and all manner of herbs ,
and pass over (
5736 )
judgment and the love of God :
these ought ye (
5713 )
to have done (
5658 ),
and not to leave the other undone (
5721 ).
*
Woe unto you ,
Pharisees !
for ye love (
5719 )
the uppermost seats in the synagogues ,
and greetings in the markets .
*
Woe unto you ,
scribes and Pharisees ,
hypocrites !
for ye are (
5748 )
as graves which appear not ,
and the men that walk (
5723 )
over them are not aware (
5758 )
of them .
*
Then answered (
5679 )
one of the lawyers ,
and said (
5719 )
unto him ,
Master ,
thus saying (
5723 )
thou reproachest (
5719 )
us also .
*
And he said (
5627 ),
Woe unto you also ,
ye lawyers !
for ye lade (
5719 )
men with burdens grievous to be borne ,
and ye yourselves touch (
5719 )
not the burdens with one of your fingers .
*
Woe unto you !
for ye build (
5719 )
the sepulchres of the prophets ,
and your fathers killed (
5656 )
them .
*
Truly ye bear witness (
5719 )
that ye allow (
5719 )
the deeds of your fathers :
for they indeed killed (
5656 )
them ,
and ye build (
5719 )
their sepulchres .
*
Therefore also said (
5627 )
the wisdom of God ,
I will send (
5692 )
them prophets and apostles ,
and some of them they shall slay (
5692 )
and persecute (
5692 ):
*
That the blood of all the prophets ,
which was shed (
5746 )
from the foundation of the world ,
may be required (
5686 )
of this generation ;
*
From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias ,
which perished (
5642 )
between the altar and the temple :
verily I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
It shall be required (
5701 )
of this generation .
*
Woe unto you ,
lawyers !
for ye have taken away (
5656 )
the key of knowledge :
ye entered not in (
5627 )
yourselves ,
and them that were entering in (
5740 )
ye hindered (
5656 ).
*
And as he said (
5723 )
these things unto them ,
the scribes and the Pharisees began (
5662 )
to urge (
5721 )
him vehemently ,
and to provoke him to speak (
5721 )
of many things :
*
Laying wait for (
5723 )
him ,
and seeking (
5723 )
to catch (
5658 )
something out of his mouth ,
that they might accuse (
5661 )
him .
*
In the mean time ,
when there were gathered together (
5685 )
an innumerable multitude of people ,
insomuch that they trode (
5721 )
one upon another ,
he began (
5662 )
to say (
5721 )
unto his disciples first of all ,
Beware (
5720 )
ye of the leaven of the Pharisees ,
which is (
5748 )
hypocrisy .
*
For there is (
5748 )
nothing covered (
5772 ),
that shall not be revealed (
5701 );
neither hid ,
that shall not be known (
5701 ).
*
Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken (
5627 )
in darkness shall be heard (
5701 )
in the light ;
and that which ye have spoken (
5656 )
in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed (
5701 )
upon the housetops .
*
And I say (
5719 )
unto you my friends ,
Be not afraid (
5676 )
of them that kill (
5723 )
the body ,
and after that have (
5723 )
no more that they can do (
5658 ).
*
But I will forewarn (
5692 )
you whom ye shall fear (
5680 ):
Fear (
5676 )
him ,
which after he hath killed (
5658 )
hath (
5723 )
power to cast (
5629 )
into hell ;
yea ,
I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
Fear (
5676 )
him .
*
Are not five sparrows sold (
5743 )
for two farthings ,
and not one of them is (
5748 )
forgotten (
5772 )
before God ?
*
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered (
5769 ).
Fear (
5737 )
not therefore :
ye are of more value (
5719 )
than many sparrows .
*
Also I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
Whosoever shall confess (
5661 )
me before men ,
him shall the Son of man also confess (
5692 )
before the angels of God :
*
But he that denieth (
5666 )
me before men shall be denied (
5701 )
before the angels of God .
*
And whosoever shall speak (
5692 )
a word against the Son of man ,
it shall be forgiven (
5701 )
him :
but unto him that blasphemeth (
5660 )
against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven (
5701 ).
*
And when they bring (
5725 )
you unto the synagogues ,
and unto magistrates ,
and powers ,
take ye no thought (
5720 )
how or what thing ye shall answer (
5667 ),
or what ye shall say (
5632 ):
*
For the Holy Ghost shall teach (
5692 )
you in the same hour what ye ought (
5748 )
to say (
5629 ).
*
And one of the company said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Master ,
speak (
5628 )
to my brother ,
that he divide (
5670 )
the inheritance with me .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Man ,
who made (
5656 )
me a judge or a divider over you ?
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Take heed (
5720 ),
and beware (
5732 )
of covetousness :
for a mans life consisteth (
5748 )
not in the abundance (
5721 )
of the things which he possesseth (
5723 ).
*
And he spake (
5627 )
a parable unto them ,
saying (
5723 ),
The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully (
5656 ):
*
And he thought (
5711 )
within himself ,
saying (
5723 ),
What shall I do (
5661 ),
because I have (
5719 )
no room where to bestow (
5692 )
my fruits ?
*
And he said (
5627 ),
This will I do (
5692 ):
I will pull down (
5692 )
my barns ,
and build (
5692 )
greater ;
and there will I bestow (
5692 )
all my fruits and my goods .
*
And I will say (
5692 )
to my soul ,
Soul ,
thou hast (
5719 )
much goods laid up (
5740 )
for many years ;
take thine ease (
5732 ),
eat (
5628 ),
drink (
5628 ),
and be merry (
5744 ).
*
But God said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Thou fool ,
this night thy soul shall be required (
5719 )
of thee :
then whose shall those things be (
5704 ),
which thou hast provided (
5656 )?
*
So is he that layeth up treasure (
5723 )
for himself ,
and is not rich (
5723 )
toward God .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto his disciples ,
Therefore I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
Take no thought (
5720 )
for your life ,
what ye shall eat (
5632 );
neither for the body ,
what ye shall put on (
5672 ).
*
The life is (
5748 )
more than meat ,
and the body is more than raiment .
*
Consider (
5657 )
the ravens :
for they neither sow (
5719 )
nor reap (
5719 );
which neither have (
5748 )
storehouse nor barn ;
and God feedeth (
5719 )
them :
how much more are ye better than (
5719 )
the fowls ?
*
And which of you with taking thought (
5723 )
can (
5736 )
add (
5629 )
to his stature one cubit ?
*
If ye then be not able to do (
5736 )
that thing which is least ,
why take ye thought (
5719 )
for the rest ?
*
Consider (
5657 )
the lilies how they grow (
5719 ):
they toil (
5719 )
not ,
they spin (
5719 )
not ;
and yet I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed (
5639 )
like one of these .
*
If then God so clothe (
5719 )
the grass ,
which (
5752 )
is to day in the field ,
and to morrow is cast (
5746 )
into the oven ;
how much more will he clothe you ,
O ye of little faith ?
*
And seek (
5720 )
not ye what ye shall eat (
5632 ),
or what ye shall drink (
5632 ),
neither be ye of doubtful mind (
5744 ).
*
For all these things do the nations of the world seek after (
5719 ):
and your Father knoweth (
5758 )
that ye have need (
5719 )
of these things .
*
But rather seek ye (
5720 )
the kingdom of God ;
and all these things shall be added (
5701 )
unto you .
*
Fear (
5737 )
not ,
little flock ;
for it is your Fathers good pleasure (
5656 )
to give (
5629 )
you the kingdom .
*
Sell (
5657 )
that ye have (
5723 ),
and give (
5628 )
alms ;
provide (
5657 )
yourselves bags which wax not old (
5746 ),
a treasure in the heavens that faileth not ,
where no thief approacheth (
5719 ),
neither moth corrupteth (
5719 ).
*
For where your treasure is (
5748 ),
there will your heart be (
5704 )
also .
*
Let your loins be (
5749 )
girded about (
5772 ),
and your lights burning (
5746 );
*
And ye yourselves like unto men that wait (
5740 )
for their lord ,
when he will return (
5692 )
from the wedding ;
that when he cometh (
5631 )
and knocketh (
5660 ),
they may open (
5661 )
unto him immediately .
*
Blessed are those servants ,
whom the lord when he cometh (
5631 )
shall find (
5692 )
watching (
5723 ):
verily I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
that he shall gird himself (
5698 ),
and make them to sit down to meat (
5692 ),
and will come forth (
5631 )
and serve (
5692 )
them .
*
And if he shall come (
5632 )
in the second watch ,
or come (
5632 )
in the third watch ,
and find (
5632 )
them so ,
blessed are (
5748 )
those servants .
*
And this know (
5720 ),
that if the goodman of the house had known (
5715 )
what hour the thief would come (
5736 ),
he would have watched (
5656 ),
and not have suffered (
5656 )
his house to be broken through (
5650 ).
*
Be (
5737 )
ye therefore ready also :
for the Son of man cometh (
5736 )
at an hour when ye think (
5719 )
not .
*
Then Peter said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Lord ,
speakest thou (
5719 )
this parable unto us ,
or even to all ?
*
And the Lord said (
5627 ),
Who then is (
5748 )
that faithful and wise steward ,
whom his lord shall make ruler (
5692 )
over his household ,
to give (
5721 )
them their portion of meat in due season ?
*
Blessed is that servant ,
whom his lord when he cometh (
5631 )
shall find (
5692 )
so doing (
5723 ).
*
Of a truth I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
that he will make him ruler (
5692 )
over all that he hath (
5723 ).
*
But and if that servant say (
5632 )
in his heart ,
My lord delayeth (
5719 )
his coming (
5738 );
and shall begin (
5672 )
to beat (
5721 )
the menservants and maidens ,
and to eat (
5721 )
and drink (
5721 ),
and to be drunken (
5745 );
*
The lord of that servant will come (
5692 )
in a day when he looketh not for (
5719 )
him ,
and at an hour when he is not aware (
5719 ),
and will cut him in sunder (
5692 ),
and will appoint (
5692 )
him his portion with the unbelievers .
*
And that servant ,
which knew (
5631 )
his lords will ,
and prepared (
5660 )
not himself ,
neither did (
5660 )
according to his will ,
shall be beaten (
5691 )
with many stripes .
*
But he that knew (
5631 )
not ,
and did commit (
5660 )
things worthy of stripes ,
shall be beaten (
5691 )
with few stripes .
For unto whomsoever much is given (
5681 ),
of him shall be much required (
5701 ):
and to whom men have committed (
5639 )
much ,
of him they will ask (
5692 )
the more .
*
I am come (
5627 )
to send (
5629 )
fire on the earth ;
and what will I (
5719 ),
if it be already kindled (
5681 )?
*
But I have (
5719 )
a baptism to be baptized with (
5683 );
and how am I straitened (
5743 )
till it be accomplished (
5686 )!
*
Suppose ye (
5719 )
that I am come (
5633 )
to give (
5629 )
peace on earth ?
I tell (
5719 )
you ,
Nay ;
but rather division :
*
For from henceforth there shall be (
5704 )
five in one house divided (
5772 ),
three against two ,
and two against three .
*
The father shall be divided (
5701 )
against the son ,
and the son against the father ;
the mother against the daughter ,
and the daughter against the mother ;
the mother in law against her daughter in law ,
and the daughter in law against her mother in law .
*
And he said (
5707 )
also to the people ,
When ye see (
5632 )
a cloud rise (
5723 )
out of the west ,
straightway ye say (
5719 ),
There cometh (
5736 )
a shower ;
and so it is (
5736 ).
*
And when ye see the south wind blow (
5723 ),
ye say (
5719 ),
There will be (
5704 )
heat ;
and it cometh to pass (
5736 ).
*
Ye hypocrites ,
ye can (
5758 )
discern (
5721 )
the face of the sky and of the earth ;
but how is it that ye do not discern (
5719 )
this time ?
*
Yea ,
and why even of yourselves judge ye (
5719 )
not what is right ?
*
When thou goest (
5719 )
with thine adversary to the magistrate ,
as thou art in the way ,
give (
5628 )
diligence that thou mayest be delivered (
5771 )
from him ;
lest he hale (
5661 )
thee to the judge ,
and the judge deliver (
5632 )
thee to the officer ,
and the officer cast (
5725 )
thee into prison .
*
I tell (
5719 )
thee ,
thou shalt not depart (
5632 )
thence ,
till thou hast paid (
5632 )
the very last mite .
*
There were present (
5713 )
at that season some that told (
5723 )
him of the Galilaeans ,
whose blood Pilate had mingled (
5656 )
with their sacrifices .
*
And Jesus answering (
5679 )
said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Suppose ye (
5719 )
that these Galilaeans were (
5633 )
sinners above all the Galilaeans ,
because they suffered (
5754 )
such things ?
*
I tell (
5719 )
you ,
Nay :
but ,
except ye repent (
5725 ),
ye shall all likewise perish (
5698 ).
*
Or those eighteen ,
upon whom the tower in Siloam fell (
5627 ),
and slew (
5656 )
them ,
think ye (
5719 )
that they were (
5633 )
sinners above all men that dwelt (
5723 )
in Jerusalem ?
*
I tell (
5719 )
you ,
Nay :
but ,
except ye repent (
5725 ),
ye shall all likewise perish (
5698 ).
*
He spake (
5707 )
also this parable ;
A certain man had (
5707 )
a fig tree planted (
5772 )
in his vineyard ;
and he came (
5627 )
and sought (
5723 )
fruit thereon ,
and found (
5627 )
none .
*
Then said he (
5627 )
unto the dresser of his vineyard ,
Behold (
5628 ),
these three years I come (
5736 )
seeking (
5723 )
fruit on this fig tree ,
and find (
5719 )
none :
cut it down (
5657 );
why cumbereth (
5719 )
it the ground ?
*
And he answering (
5679 )
said (
5719 )
unto him ,
Lord ,
let it alone (
5628 )
this year also ,
till I shall dig (
5661 )
about it ,
and dung (
5632 )
it :
*
And if it bear (
5661 )
fruit ,
well :
and if not ,
then after that (
5723 )
thou shalt cut it down (
5692 ).
*
And he was (
5713 )
teaching (
5723 )
in one of the synagogues on the sabbath .
*
And ,
behold (
5628 ),
there was (
5713 )
a woman which had (
5723 )
a spirit of infirmity eighteen years ,
and was (
5713 )
bowed together (
5723 ),
and could (
5740 )
in no wise lift up (
5658 )
herself .
*
And when Jesus saw (
5631 )
her ,
he called (
5656 )
her to him ,
and said (
5627 )
unto her ,
Woman ,
thou art loosed (
5769 )
from thine infirmity .
*
And he laid his hands on (
5656 )
her :
and immediately she was made straight (
5681 ),
and glorified (
5707 )
God .
*
And the ruler of the synagogue answered (
5679 )
with indignation (
5723 ),
because that Jesus had healed (
5656 )
on the sabbath day ,
and said (
5707 )
unto the people ,
There are (
5748 )
six days in which men ought (
5748 )
to work (
5738 ):
in them therefore come (
5740 )
and be healed (
5744 ),
and not on the sabbath day .
*
The Lord then answered (
5662 )
him ,
and said (
5627 ),
Thou hypocrite ,
doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose (
5719 )
his ox or his ass from the stall ,
and lead him away (
5631 )
to watering (
5719 )?
*
And ought (
5713 )
not this woman ,
being (
5752 )
a daughter of Abraham ,
whom Satan hath bound (
5656 ),
lo (
5628 ),
these eighteen years ,
be loosed (
5683 )
from this bond on the sabbath day ?
*
And when he had said (
5723 )
these things ,
all his adversaries (
5740 )
were ashamed (
5712 ):
and all the people rejoiced (
5707 )
for all the glorious things that were done (
5740 )
by him .
*
Then said he (
5707 ),
Unto what is (
5748 )
the kingdom of God like ?
and whereunto shall I resemble (
5692 )
it ?
*
It is (
5748 )
like a grain of mustard seed ,
which a man took (
5631 ),
and cast (
5627 )
into his garden ;
and it grew (
5656 ),
and waxed (
5633 )
a great tree ;
and the fowls of the air lodged (
5656 )
in the branches of it .
*
And again he said (
5627 ),
Whereunto shall I liken (
5692 )
the kingdom of God ?
*
It is (
5748 )
like leaven ,
which a woman took (
5631 )
and hid (
5656 )
in three measures of meal ,
till the whole was leavened (
5681 ).
*
And he went (
5711 )
through the cities and villages ,
teaching (
5723 ),
and journeying (
5734 )
toward Jerusalem .
*
Then said (
5627 )
one unto him ,
Lord ,
are there few that be saved (
5746 )?
And he said (
5627 )
unto them ,
*
Strive (
5737 )
to enter in (
5629 )
at the strait gate :
for many ,
I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
will seek (
5692 )
to enter in (
5629 ),
and shall not be able (
5692 ).
*
When once the master of the house is risen up (
5686 ),
and hath shut (
5661 )
to the door ,
and ye begin (
5672 )
to stand (
5760 )
without ,
and to knock (
5721 )
at the door ,
saying (
5723 ),
Lord ,
Lord ,
open (
5657 )
unto us ;
and he shall answer (
5679 )
and say (
5692 )
unto you ,
I know (
5758 )
you not whence ye are (
5748 ):
*
Then shall ye begin (
5698 )
to say (
5721 ),
We have eaten (
5627 )
and drunk (
5627 )
in thy presence ,
and thou hast taught (
5656 )
in our streets .
*
But he shall say (
5692 ),
I tell (
5719 )
you ,
I know (
5758 )
you not whence ye are (
5748 );
depart (
5628 )
from me ,
all ye workers of iniquity .
*
There shall be (
5704 )
weeping and gnashing of teeth ,
when ye shall see (
5667 )
Abraham ,
and Isaac ,
and Jacob ,
and all the prophets ,
in the kingdom of God ,
and you yourselves thrust (
5746 )
out .
*
And they shall come (
5692 )
from the east ,
and from the west ,
and from the north ,
and from the south ,
and shall sit down (
5701 )
in the kingdom of God .
*
And ,
behold (
5628 ),
there are (
5748 )
last which shall be (
5704 )
first ,
and there are (
5748 )
first which shall be (
5704 )
last .
*
The same day there came (
5656 )
certain of the Pharisees ,
saying (
5723 )
unto him ,
Get thee out (
5628 ),
and depart (
5737 )
hence :
for Herod will (
5719 )
kill (
5658 )
thee .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Go ye (
5679 ),
and tell (
5628 )
that fox ,
Behold (
5628 ),
I cast out (
5719 )
devils ,
and I do (
5719 )
cures to day and to morrow ,
and the third day I shall be perfected (
5743 ).
*
Nevertheless I must (
5748 )
walk (
5738 )
to day ,
and to morrow ,
and the day following (
5746 ):
for it cannot be (
5736 )
that a prophet perish (
5641 )
out of Jerusalem .
*
O Jerusalem ,
Jerusalem ,
which killest (
5723 )
the prophets ,
and stonest (
5723 )
them that are sent (
5772 )
unto thee ;
how often would (
5656 )
I have gathered thy children together (
5658 ),
as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings ,
and ye would (
5656 )
not !
*
Behold (
5628 ),
your house is left (
5743 )
unto you desolate :
and verily I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
Ye shall not see (
5632 )
me ,
until the time come (
5661 )
when ye shall say (
5632 ),
Blessed (
5772 )
is he that cometh (
5740 )
in the name of the Lord .
*
And it came to pass (
5633 ),
as he went (
5629 )
into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat (
5629 )
bread on the sabbath day ,
that they watched (
5713 ) (
5734 )
him .
*
And ,
behold (
5628 ),
there was (
5713 )
a certain man before him which had the dropsy .
*
And Jesus answering (
5679 )
spake (
5627 )
unto the lawyers and Pharisees ,
saying (
5723 ),
Is it lawful (
5748 )
to heal (
5721 )
on the sabbath day ?
*
And they held their peace (
5656 ).
And he took (
5637 )
him ,
and healed (
5662 )
him ,
and let him go (
5656 );
*
And answered (
5679 )
them ,
saying (
5627 ),
Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen (
5695 )
into a pit ,
and will not straightway pull him out (
5692 )
on the sabbath day ?
*
And they could (
5656 )
not answer him again (
5677 )
to these things .
*
And he put forth (
5707 )
a parable to those which were bidden (
5772 ),
when he marked (
5723 )
how they chose out (
5710 )
the chief rooms ;
saying (
5723 )
unto them ,
*
When thou art bidden (
5686 )
of any man to a wedding ,
sit not down (
5686 )
in the highest room ;
lest a more honourable man than thou be (
5753 )
bidden (
5772 )
of him ;
*
And he that bade (
5660 )
thee and him come (
5631 )
and say (
5692 )
to thee ,
Give (
5628 )
this man place ;
and thou begin (
5672 )
with shame to take (
5721 )
the lowest room .
*
But when thou art bidden (
5686 ),
go (
5679 )
and sit down (
5657 )
in the lowest room ;
that when he that bade (
5761 )
thee cometh (
5632 ),
he may say (
5632 )
unto thee ,
Friend ,
go up (
5628 )
higher :
then shalt thou have (
5704 )
worship in the presence of them that sit at meat (
5740 )
with thee .
*
For whosoever exalteth (
5723 )
himself shall be abased (
5701 );
and he that humbleth (
5723 )
himself shall be exalted (
5701 ).
*
Then said he (
5707 )
also to him that bade (
5761 )
him ,
When thou makest (
5725 )
a dinner or a supper ,
call (
5720 )
not thy friends ,
nor thy brethren ,
neither thy kinsmen ,
nor thy rich neighbours ;
lest they also bid thee again (
5661 ),
and a recompence be made (
5638 )
thee .
*
But when thou makest (
5725 )
a feast ,
call (
5720 )
the poor ,
the maimed ,
the lame ,
the blind :
*
And thou shalt be (
5704 )
blessed ;
for they cannot (
5719 )
recompense (
5629 )
thee :
for thou shalt be recompensed (
5701 )
at the resurrection of the just .
*
And when one of them that sat at meat with him (
5740 )
heard (
5660 )
these things ,
he said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Blessed is he that shall eat (
5695 )
bread in the kingdom of God .
*
Then said he (
5627 )
unto him ,
A certain man made (
5656 )
a great supper ,
and bade (
5656 )
many :
*
And sent (
5656 )
his servant at supper time to say (
5629 )
to them that were bidden (
5772 ),
Come (
5737 );
for all things are (
5748 )
now ready .
*
And they all with one consent began (
5662 )
to make excuse (
5738 ).
The first said (
5627 )
unto him ,
I have bought (
5656 )
a piece of ground ,
and I must (
5719 )
needs go (
5629 )
and see (
5629 )
it :
I pray (
5719 )
thee have (
5720 )
me excused (
5772 ).
*
And another said (
5627 ),
I have bought (
5656 )
five yoke of oxen ,
and I go (
5736 )
to prove (
5658 )
them :
I pray (
5719 )
thee have (
5720 )
me excused (
5772 ).
*
And another said (
5627 ),
I have married (
5656 )
a wife ,
and therefore I cannot (
5736 )
come (
5629 ).
*
So that servant came (
5637 ),
and shewed (
5656 )
his lord these things .
Then the master of the house being angry (
5685 )
said (
5627 )
to his servant ,
Go out (
5628 )
quickly into the streets and lanes of the city ,
and bring in (
5628 )
hither the poor ,
and the maimed ,
and the halt ,
and the blind .
*
And the servant said (
5627 ),
Lord ,
it is done (
5754 )
as thou hast commanded (
5656 ),
and yet there is (
5748 )
room .
*
And the lord said (
5627 )
unto the servant ,
Go out (
5628 )
into the highways and hedges ,
and compel (
5657 )
them to come in (
5629 ),
that my house may be filled (
5686 ).
*
For I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
That none of those men which were bidden (
5772 )
shall taste (
5695 )
of my supper .
*
And there went (
5711 )
great multitudes with him :
and he turned (
5651 ),
and said (
5627 )
unto them ,
*
If any man come (
5736 )
to me ,
and hate (
5719 )
not his father ,
and mother ,
and wife ,
and children ,
and brethren ,
and sisters ,
yea ,
and his own life also ,
he cannot (
5736 )
be (
5750 )
my disciple .
*
And whosoever doth not bear (
5719 )
his cross ,
and come (
5736 )
after me ,
cannot (
5736 )
be (
5750 )
my disciple .
*
For which of you ,
intending (
5723 )
to build (
5658 )
a tower ,
sitteth not down (
5660 )
first ,
and counteth (
5719 )
the cost ,
whether he have (
5719 )
sufficient to finish it ?
*
Lest haply ,
after he hath laid (
5631 )
the foundation ,
and is not able (
5723 )
to finish (
5658 )
it ,
all that behold (
5723 )
it begin (
5672 )
to mock (
5721 )
him ,
*
Saying (
5723 ),
This man began (
5662 )
to build (
5721 ),
and was not able (
5656 )
to finish (
5658 ).
*
Or what king ,
going (
5740 )
to make (
5629 )
war against another king ,
sitteth not down (
5660 )
first ,
and consulteth (
5736 )
whether he be (
5748 )
able with ten thousand to meet (
5658 )
him that cometh (
5740 )
against him with twenty thousand ?
*
Or else ,
while the other is (
5752 )
yet a great way off ,
he sendeth (
5660 )
an ambassage ,
and desireth (
5719 )
conditions of peace .
*
So likewise ,
whosoever he be of you that forsaketh (
5731 )
not all that he hath (
5723 ),
he cannot (
5736 )
be (
5750 )
my disciple .
*
Salt is good :
but if the salt have lost his savour (
5686 ),
wherewith shall it be seasoned (
5701 )?
*
It is (
5748 )
neither fit for the land ,
nor yet for the dunghill ;
but men cast (
5719 )
it out .
He that hath (
5723 )
ears to hear (
5721 ),
let him hear (
5720 ).
*
Then drew near (
5713 ) (
5723 )
unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear (
5721 )
him .
*
And the Pharisees and scribes murmured (
5707 ),
saying (
5723 ),
This man receiveth (
5736 )
sinners ,
and eateth (
5719 )
with them .
*
And he spake (
5627 )
this parable unto them ,
saying (
5723 ),
*
What man of you ,
having (
5723 )
an hundred sheep ,
if he lose (
5660 )
one of them ,
doth not leave (
5719 )
the ninety and nine in the wilderness ,
and go (
5736 )
after that which is lost (
5756 ),
until he find (
5632 )
it ?
*
And when he hath found (
5631 )
it ,
he layeth (
5719 )
it on his shoulders ,
rejoicing (
5723 ).
*
And when he cometh (
5631 )
home ,
he calleth together (
5719 )
his friends and neighbours ,
saying (
5723 )
unto them ,
Rejoice (
5645 )
with me ;
for I have found (
5627 )
my sheep which was lost (
5756 ).
*
I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
that likewise joy shall be (
5704 )
in heaven over one sinner that repenteth (
5723 ),
more than over ninety and nine just persons ,
which need (
5719 )
no repentance .
*
Either what woman having (
5723 )
ten pieces of silver ,
if she lose (
5661 )
one piece ,
doth not light (
5719 )
a candle ,
and sweep (
5719 )
the house ,
and seek (
5719 )
diligently till she find (
5632 )
it ?
*
And when she hath found (
5631 )
it ,
she calleth her friends and her neighbours together (
5731 ),
saying (
5723 ),
Rejoice (
5645 )
with me ;
for I have found (
5627 )
the piece which I had lost (
5656 ).
*
Likewise ,
I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
there is (
5736 )
joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth (
5723 ).
*
And he said (
5627 ),
A certain man had (
5707 )
two sons :
*
And the younger of them said (
5627 )
to his father ,
Father ,
give (
5628 )
me the portion of goods that falleth (
5723 )
to me .
And he divided (
5627 )
unto them his living .
*
And not many days after the younger son gathered all together (
5631 ),
and took his journey (
5656 )
into a far country ,
and there wasted (
5656 )
his substance with riotous living (
5723 ).
*
And when he had spent (
5660 )
all ,
there arose (
5633 )
a mighty famine in that land ;
and he began (
5662 )
to be in want (
5745 ).
*
And he went (
5679 )
and joined himself (
5681 )
to a citizen of that country ;
and he sent (
5656 )
him into his fields to feed (
5721 )
swine .
*
And he would fain (
5707 )
have filled (
5658 )
his belly with the husks that the swine did eat (
5707 ):
and no man gave (
5707 )
unto him .
*
And when he came (
5631 )
to himself ,
he said (
5627 ),
How many hired servants of my fathers have bread enough and to spare (
5719 ),
and I perish (
5731 )
with hunger !
*
I will arise (
5631 )
and go (
5695 )
to my father ,
and will say (
5692 )
unto him ,
Father ,
I have sinned (
5627 )
against heaven ,
and before thee ,
*
And am (
5748 )
no more worthy to be called (
5683 )
thy son :
make (
5657 )
me as one of thy hired servants .
*
And he arose (
5631 ),
and came (
5627 )
to his father .
But when he was yet a great way off (
5723 ),
his father saw (
5627 )
him ,
and had compassion (
5675 ),
and ran (
5631 ),
and fell (
5627 )
on his neck ,
and kissed (
5656 )
him .
*
And the son said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Father ,
I have sinned (
5627 )
against heaven ,
and in thy sight ,
and am (
5748 )
no more worthy to be called (
5683 )
thy son .
*
But the father said (
5627 )
to his servants ,
Bring forth (
5657 )
the best robe ,
and put it on (
5657 )
him ;
and put (
5628 )
a ring on his hand ,
and shoes on his feet :
*
And bring hither (
5660 )
the fatted calf ,
and kill (
5657 )
it ;
and let us eat (
5631 ),
and be merry (
5686 ):
*
For this my son was (
5713 )
dead ,
and is alive again (
5656 );
he was (
5713 )
lost (
5756 ),
and is found (
5681 ).
And they began (
5662 )
to be merry (
5745 ).
*
Now his elder son was (
5713 )
in the field :
and as he came (
5740 )
and drew nigh (
5656 )
to the house ,
he heard (
5656 )
musick and dancing .
*
And he called (
5666 )
one of the servants ,
and asked (
5711 )
what these things meant (
5751 ).
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Thy brother is come (
5719 );
and thy father hath killed (
5656 )
the fatted calf ,
because he hath received (
5627 )
him safe and sound (
5723 ).
*
And he was angry (
5681 ),
and would (
5707 )
not go in (
5629 ):
therefore came his father out (
5631 ),
and intreated (
5707 )
him .
*
And he answering (
5679 )
said (
5627 )
to his father ,
Lo (
5628 ),
these many years do I serve (
5719 )
thee ,
neither transgressed I (
5627 )
at any time thy commandment :
and yet thou never gavest (
5656 )
me a kid ,
that I might make merry (
5686 )
with my friends :
*
But as soon as this thy son was come (
5627 ),
which hath devoured (
5631 )
thy living with harlots ,
thou hast killed (
5656 )
for him the fatted calf .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Son ,
thou art (
5748 )
ever with me ,
and all that I have is (
5748 )
thine .
*
It was meet (
5713 )
that we should make merry (
5683 ),
and be glad (
5646 ):
for this thy brother was (
5713 )
dead ,
and is alive again (
5656 );
and was (
5713 )
lost (
5756 ),
and is found (
5681 ).
*
And he said (
5707 )
also unto his disciples ,
There was (
5713 )
a certain rich man ,
which had (
5707 )
a steward ;
and the same was accused (
5681 )
unto him that he had wasted (
5723 )
his goods (
5723 ).
*
And he called (
5660 )
him ,
and said (
5627 )
unto him ,
How is it that I hear (
5719 )
this of thee ?
give (
5628 )
an account of thy stewardship ;
for thou mayest be (
5695 )
no longer steward (
5721 ).
*
Then the steward said (
5627 )
within himself ,
What shall I do (
5661 )?
for my lord taketh away (
5731 )
from me the stewardship :
I cannot (
5719 )
dig (
5721 );
to beg (
5721 )
I am ashamed (
5727 ).
*
I am resolved (
5627 )
what to do (
5692 ),
that ,
when I am put out (
5686 )
of the stewardship ,
they may receive (
5667 )
me into their houses .
*
So he called (
5666 )
every one of his lords debtors unto him ,
and said (
5707 )
unto the first ,
How much owest thou (
5719 )
unto my lord ?
*
And he said (
5627 ),
An hundred measures of oil .
And he said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Take (
5663 )
thy bill ,
and sit down (
5660 )
quickly ,
and write (
5657 )
fifty .
*
Then said he (
5627 )
to another ,
And how much owest (
5719 )
thou ?
And he said (
5627 ),
An hundred measures of wheat .
And he said (
5719 )
unto him ,
Take (
5663 )
thy bill ,
and write (
5657 )
fourscore .
*
And the lord commended (
5656 )
the unjust steward ,
because he had done (
5656 )
wisely :
for the children of this world are (
5748 )
in their generation wiser than the children of light .
*
And I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
Make (
5657 )
to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness ;
that ,
when ye fail (
5632 ),
they may receive (
5667 )
you into everlasting habitations .
*
He that is faithful in that which is least is (
5748 )
faithful also in much :
and he that is unjust in the least is (
5748 )
unjust also in much .
*
If therefore ye have not been (
5633 )
faithful in the unrighteous mammon ,
who will commit to your trust (
5692 )
the true riches ?
*
And if ye have not been (
5633 )
faithful in that which is another mans ,
who shall give (
5692 )
you that which is your own ?
*
No servant can (
5736 )
serve (
5721 )
two masters :
for either he will hate (
5692 )
the one ,
and love (
5692 )
the other ;
or else he will hold (
5695 )
to the one ,
and despise (
5692 )
the other .
Ye cannot (
5736 )
serve (
5721 )
God and mammon .
*
And the Pharisees also ,
who were (
5723 )
covetous ,
heard (
5707 )
all these things :
and they derided (
5707 )
him .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Ye are (
5748 )
they which justify (
5723 )
yourselves before men ;
but God knoweth (
5719 )
your hearts :
for that which is highly esteemed among men is (
5748 )
abomination in the sight of God .
*
The law and the prophets were until John :
since that time the kingdom of God is preached (
5743 ),
and every man presseth (
5731 )
into it .
*
And it is (
5748 )
easier for heaven and earth to pass (
5629 ),
than one tittle of the law to fail (
5629 ).
*
Whosoever putteth away (
5723 )
his wife ,
and marrieth (
5723 )
another ,
committeth adultery (
5719 ):
and whosoever marrieth (
5723 )
her that is put away (
5772 )
from her husband committeth adultery (
5719 ).
*
There was (
5713 )
a certain rich man ,
which was clothed (
5710 )
in purple and fine linen ,
and fared (
5746 )
sumptuously every day :
*
And there was (
5713 )
a certain beggar named Lazarus ,
which was laid (
5718 )
at his gate ,
full of sores (
5772 ),
*
And desiring (
5723 )
to be fed (
5683 )
with the crumbs which fell (
5723 )
from the rich mans table :
moreover the dogs came (
5740 )
and licked (
5707 )
his sores .
*
And it came to pass (
5633 ),
that the beggar died (
5629 ),
and was carried (
5683 )
by the angels into Abrahams bosom :
the rich man also died (
5627 ),
and was buried (
5648 );
*
And in hell he lift up (
5660 )
his eyes ,
being (
5723 )
in torments ,
and seeth (
5719 )
Abraham afar off ,
and Lazarus in his bosom .
*
And he cried (
5660 )
and said (
5627 ),
Father Abraham ,
have mercy (
5657 )
on me ,
and send (
5657 )
Lazarus ,
that he may dip (
5661 )
the tip of his finger in water ,
and cool (
5661 )
my tongue ;
for I am tormented (
5743 )
in this flame .
*
But Abraham said (
5627 ),
Son ,
remember (
5682 )
that thou in thy lifetime receivedst (
5627 )
thy good things ,
and likewise Lazarus evil things :
but now he is comforted (
5743 ),
and thou art tormented (
5743 ).
*
And beside all this ,
between us and you there is a great gulf fixed (
5769 ):
so that they which would (
5723 )
pass (
5629 )
from hence to you cannot (
5741 );
neither can they pass (
5725 )
to us ,
that would come from thence .
*
Then he said (
5627 ),
I pray (
5719 )
thee therefore ,
father ,
that thou wouldest send (
5661 )
him to my fathers house :
*
For I have (
5719 )
five brethren ;
that he may testify (
5741 )
unto them ,
lest they also come (
5632 )
into this place of torment .
*
Abraham saith (
5719 )
unto him ,
They have (
5719 )
Moses and the prophets ;
let them hear (
5657 )
them .
*
And he said (
5627 ),
Nay ,
father Abraham :
but if one went (
5680 )
unto them from the dead ,
they will repent (
5692 ).
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto him ,
If they hear (
5719 )
not Moses and the prophets ,
neither will they be persuaded (
5701 ),
though one rose (
5632 )
from the dead .
*
Then said he (
5627 )
unto the disciples ,
It is (
5748 )
impossible but that offences will come (
5629 ):
but woe unto him ,
through whom they come (
5736 )!
*
It were better (
5719 )
for him that a millstone were hanged (
5736 )
about his neck ,
and he cast (
5769 )
into the sea ,
than that he should offend (
5661 )
one of these little ones .
*
Take heed (
5720 )
to yourselves :
If thy brother trespass (
5632 )
against thee ,
rebuke (
5657 )
him ;
and if he repent (
5661 ),
forgive (
5628 )
him .
*
And if he trespass (
5632 )
against thee seven times in a day ,
and seven times in a day turn again (
5661 )
to thee ,
saying (
5723 ),
I repent (
5719 );
thou shalt forgive (
5692 )
him .
*
And the apostles said (
5627 )
unto the Lord ,
Increase (
5628 )
our faith .
*
And the Lord said (
5627 ),
If ye had (
5707 )
faith as a grain of mustard seed ,
ye might say (
5707 )
unto this sycamine tree ,
Be thou plucked up by the root (
5682 ),
and be thou planted (
5682 )
in the sea ;
and it should obey (
5656 )
you .
*
But which of you ,
having (
5723 )
a servant plowing (
5723 )
or feeding cattle (
5723 ),
will say (
5692 )
unto him by and by ,
when he is come (
5631 )
from the field ,
Go (
5631 )
and sit down to meat (
5669 )?
*
And will not rather say (
5692 )
unto him ,
Make ready (
5657 )
wherewith I may sup (
5661 ),
and gird thyself (
5671 ),
and serve (
5720 )
me ,
till I have eaten (
5632 )
and drunken (
5632 );
and afterward thou shalt eat (
5695 )
and drink (
5695 )?
*
Doth he (
5719 )
thank that servant because he did (
5656 )
the things that were commanded (
5685 )
him ?
I trow (
5719 )
not .
*
So likewise ye ,
when ye shall have done (
5661 )
all those things which are commanded (
5685 )
you ,
say (
5720 ),
We are (
5748 )
unprofitable servants :
we have done (
5658 )
that which was our duty (
5707 )
to do (
5758 ).
*
And it came to pass (
5633 ),
as he went (
5738 )
to Jerusalem ,
that he passed (
5711 )
through the midst of Samaria and Galilee .
*
And as he entered (
5740 )
into a certain village ,
there met (
5656 )
him ten men that were lepers ,
which stood (
5627 )
afar off :
*
And they lifted up (
5656 )
their voices ,
and said (
5723 ),
Jesus ,
Master ,
have mercy (
5657 )
on us .
*
And when he saw (
5631 )
them ,
he said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Go (
5679 )
shew (
5657 )
yourselves unto the priests .
And it came to pass (
5633 ),
that ,
as they went (
5721 ),
they were cleansed (
5681 ).
*
And one of them ,
when he saw (
5631 )
that he was healed (
5681 ),
turned back (
5656 ),
and with a loud voice glorified (
5723 )
God ,
*
And fell down (
5627 )
on his face at his feet ,
giving him thanks (
5723 ):
and he was (
5713 )
a Samaritan .
*
And Jesus answering (
5679 )
said (
5627 ),
Were there not ten cleansed (
5681 )?
but where are the nine ?
*
There are not found (
5681 )
that returned (
5660 )
to give (
5629 )
glory to God ,
save this stranger .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Arise (
5631 ),
go thy way (
5737 ):
thy faith hath made thee whole (
5758 ).
*
And when he was demanded (
5685 )
of the Pharisees ,
when the kingdom of God should come (
5736 ),
he answered (
5662 )
them and said (
5627 ),
The kingdom of God cometh (
5736 )
not with observation :
*
Neither shall they say (
5692 ),
Lo (
5628 )
here !
or ,
lo (
5628 )
there !
for ,
behold (
5628 ),
the kingdom of God is (
5748 )
within you .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto the disciples ,
The days will come (
5695 ),
when ye shall desire (
5692 )
to see (
5629 )
one of the days of the Son of man ,
and ye shall not see (
5695 )
it .
*
And they shall say (
5692 )
to you ,
See (
5628 )
here ;
or ,
see (
5628 )
there :
go not after (
5632 )
them ,
nor follow (
5661 )
them .
*
For as the lightning ,
that lighteneth (
5723 )
out of the one part under heaven ,
shineth (
5719 )
unto the other part under heaven ;
so shall also the Son of man be (
5704 )
in his day .
*
But first must (
5748 )
he suffer (
5629 )
many things ,
and be rejected (
5683 )
of this generation .
*
And as it was (
5633 )
in the days of Noe ,
so shall it be (
5704 )
also in the days of the Son of man .
*
They did eat (
5707 ),
they drank (
5707 ),
they married wives (
5707 ),
they were given in marriage (
5712 ),
until the day that Noe entered (
5627 )
into the ark ,
and the flood came (
5627 ),
and destroyed (
5656 )
them all .
*
Likewise also as it was (
5633 )
in the days of Lot ;
they did eat (
5707 ),
they drank (
5707 ),
they bought (
5707 ),
they sold (
5707 ),
they planted (
5707 ),
they builded (
5707 );
*
But the same day that Lot went (
5627 )
out of Sodom it rained (
5656 )
fire and brimstone from heaven ,
and destroyed (
5656 )
them all .
*
Even thus shall it be (
5704 )
in the day when the Son of man is revealed (
5743 ).
*
In that day ,
he which shall be (
5704 )
upon the housetop ,
and his stuff in the house ,
let him not come down (
5628 )
to take it away (
5658 ):
and he that is in the field ,
let him likewise not return (
5657 )
back .
*
Remember (
5720 )
Lots wife .
*
Whosoever shall seek (
5661 )
to save (
5658 )
his life shall lose (
5692 )
it ;
and whosoever shall lose (
5661 )
his life shall preserve (
5692 )
it .
*
I tell (
5719 )
you ,
in that night there shall be (
5704 )
two men in one bed ;
the one shall be taken (
5701 ),
and the other shall be left (
5701 ).
*
Two women shall be (
5704 )
grinding (
5723 )
together ;
the one shall be taken (
5701 ),
and the other left (
5701 ).
*
Two men shall be (
5704 )
in the field ;
the one shall be taken (
5701 ),
and the other left (
5701 ).
*
And they answered (
5679 )
and said (
5719 )
unto him ,
Where ,
Lord ?
And he said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Wheresoever the body is ,
thither will the eagles be gathered together (
5701 ).
*
And he spake (
5707 )
a parable unto them to this end ,
that men ought (
5750 )
always to pray (
5738 ),
and not to faint (
5721 );
*
Saying (
5723 ),
There was (
5713 )
in a city a judge ,
which feared (
5740 )
not God ,
neither regarded (
5746 )
man :
*
And there was (
5713 )
a widow in that city ;
and she came (
5711 )
unto him ,
saying (
5723 ),
Avenge (
5657 )
me of mine adversary .
*
And he would (
5656 )
not for a while :
but afterward he said (
5627 )
within himself ,
Though I fear (
5736 )
not God ,
nor regard (
5743 )
man ;
*
Yet because this widow troubleth (
5721 )
me ,
I will avenge (
5692 )
her ,
lest by her continual coming (
5740 )
she weary (
5725 )
me .
*
And the Lord said (
5627 ),
Hear (
5657 )
what the unjust judge saith (
5719 ).
*
And shall not God avenge (
5692 )
his own elect ,
which cry (
5723 )
day and night unto him ,
though he bear long (
5723 )
with them ?
*
I tell (
5719 )
you that he will (
5692 )
avenge them speedily .
Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh (
5631 ),
shall he find (
5692 )
faith on the earth ?
*
And he spake (
5627 )
this parable unto certain which trusted (
5756 )
in themselves that they were (
5748 )
righteous ,
and despised (
5723 )
others :
*
Two men went up (
5627 )
into the temple to pray (
5664 );
the one a Pharisee ,
and the other a publican .
*
The Pharisee stood (
5685 )
and prayed (
5711 )
thus with himself ,
God ,
I thank (
5719 )
thee ,
that I am (
5748 )
not as other men are ,
extortioners ,
unjust ,
adulterers ,
or even as this publican .
*
I fast (
5719 )
twice in the week ,
I give tithes (
5719 )
of all that I possess (
5736 ).
*
And the publican ,
standing (
5761 )
afar off ,
would (
5707 )
not lift up (
5658 )
so much as his eyes unto heaven ,
but smote (
5707 )
upon his breast ,
saying (
5723 ),
God be merciful (
5682 )
to me a sinner .
*
I tell (
5719 )
you ,
this man went down (
5627 )
to his house justified (
5772 )
rather than the other :
for every one that exalteth (
5723 )
himself shall be abased (
5701 );
and he that humbleth (
5723 )
himself shall be exalted (
5701 ).
*
And they brought (
5707 )
unto him also infants ,
that he would touch (
5735 )
them :
but when his disciples saw (
5631 )
it ,
they rebuked (
5656 )
them .
*
But Jesus called (
5666 )
them unto him ,
and said (
5627 ),
Suffer (
5628 )
little children to come (
5738 )
unto me ,
and forbid (
5720 )
them not :
for of such is (
5748 )
the kingdom of God .
*
Verily I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
Whosoever shall not receive (
5667 )
the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter (
5632 )
therein .
*
And a certain ruler asked (
5656 )
him ,
saying (
5723 ),
Good Master ,
what shall I do (
5660 )
to inherit (
5692 )
eternal life ?
*
And Jesus said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Why callest thou (
5719 )
me good ?
none is good ,
save one ,
that is ,
God .
*
Thou knowest (
5758 )
the commandments ,
Do not commit adultery (
5661 ),
Do not kill (
5661 ),
Do not steal (
5661 ),
Do not bear false witness (
5661 ),
Honour (
5720 )
thy father and thy mother .
*
And he said (
5627 ),
All these have I kept (
5668 )
from my youth up .
*
Now when Jesus heard (
5660 )
these things ,
he said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Yet lackest (
5719 )
thou one thing :
sell (
5657 )
all that thou hast (
5719 ),
and distribute (
5628 )
unto the poor ,
and thou shalt have (
5692 )
treasure in heaven :
and come (
5773 ),
follow (
5720 )
me .
*
And when he heard (
5660 )
this ,
he was (
5633 )
very sorrowful :
for he was (
5713 )
very rich .
*
And when Jesus saw (
5631 )
that he was (
5637 )
very sorrowful ,
he said (
5627 ),
How hardly shall they that have (
5723 )
riches enter (
5695 )
into the kingdom of God !
*
For it is (
5748 )
easier for a camel to go (
5629 )
through a needles eye ,
than for a rich man to enter (
5629 )
into the kingdom of God .
*
And they that heard (
5660 )
it said (
5627 ),
Who then can be (
5736 )
saved (
5683 )?
*
And he said (
5627 ),
The things which are impossible with men are (
5748 )
possible with God .
*
Then Peter said (
5627 ),
Lo (
5628 ),
we have left (
5656 )
all ,
and followed (
5656 )
thee .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Verily I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
There is (
5748 )
no man that hath left (
5656 )
house ,
or parents ,
or brethren ,
or wife ,
or children ,
for the kingdom of Gods sake ,
*
Who shall not receive (
5632 )
manifold more in this present time ,
and in the world to come (
5740 )
life everlasting .
*
Then he took (
5631 )
unto him the twelve ,
and said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Behold (
5628 ),
we go up (
5719 )
to Jerusalem ,
and all things that are written (
5772 )
by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished (
5701 ).
*
For he shall be delivered (
5701 )
unto the Gentiles ,
and shall be mocked (
5701 ),
and spitefully entreated (
5701 ),
and spitted on (
5701 ):
*
And they shall scourge (
5660 )
him ,
and put him to death (
5692 ):
and the third day he shall rise again (
5698 ).
*
And they understood (
5656 )
none of these things :
and this saying was (
5713 )
hid (
5772 )
from them ,
neither knew they (
5707 )
the things which were spoken (
5746 ).
*
And it came to pass (
5633 ),
that as he was come nigh (
5721 )
unto Jericho ,
a certain blind man sat (
5711 )
by the way side begging (
5723 ):
*
And hearing (
5660 )
the multitude pass by (
5740 ),
he asked (
5711 )
what it meant (
5751 ).
*
And they told (
5656 )
him ,
that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by (
5736 ).
*
And he cried (
5656 ),
saying (
5723 ),
Jesus ,
thou Son of David ,
have mercy (
5657 )
on me .
*
And they which went before (
5723 )
rebuked (
5707 )
him ,
that he should hold his peace (
5661 ):
but he cried (
5707 )
so much the more ,
Thou Son of David ,
have mercy (
5657 )
on me .
*
And Jesus stood (
5685 ),
and commanded (
5656 )
him to be brought (
5683 )
unto him :
and when he was come near (
5660 ),
he asked (
5656 )
him ,
*
Saying (
5723 ),
What wilt thou (
5719 )
that I shall do (
5661 )
unto thee ?
And he said (
5627 ),
Lord ,
that I may receive my sight (
5661 ).
*
And Jesus said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Receive thy sight (
5657 ):
thy faith hath saved (
5758 )
thee .
*
And immediately he received his sight (
5656 ),
and followed (
5707 )
him ,
glorifying (
5723 )
God :
and all the people ,
when they saw (
5631 )
it ,
gave (
5656 )
praise unto God .
*
And Jesus entered (
5631 )
and passed through (
5711 )
Jericho .
*
And ,
behold (
5628 ),
there was a man named (
5746 )
Zacchaeus ,
which was (
5713 )
the chief among the publicans ,
and he was (
5713 )
rich .
*
And he sought (
5707 )
to see (
5629 )
Jesus who he was (
5748 );
and could (
5711 )
not for the press ,
because he was (
5713 )
little of stature .
*
And he ran (
5631 )
before ,
and climbed up (
5627 )
into a sycomore tree to see (
5632 )
him :
for he was (
5707 )
to pass (
5738 )
that way .
*
And when Jesus came (
5627 )
to the place ,
he looked up (
5660 ),
and saw (
5627 )
him ,
and said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Zacchaeus ,
make haste (
5660 ),
and come down (
5628 );
for to day I must (
5748 )
abide (
5658 )
at thy house .
*
And he made haste (
5660 ),
and came down (
5627 ),
and received (
5662 )
him joyfully (
5723 ).
*
And when they saw (
5631 )
it ,
they all murmured (
5707 ),
saying (
5723 ),
That he was gone (
5627 )
to be guest (
5658 )
with a man that is a sinner .
*
And Zacchaeus stood (
5685 ),
and said (
5627 )
unto the Lord ;
Behold (
5628 ),
Lord ,
the half of my goods (
5723 )
I give (
5719 )
to the poor ;
and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation (
5656 ),
I restore (
5719 )
him fourfold .
*
And Jesus said (
5627 )
unto him ,
This day is salvation come (
5633 )
to this house ,
forsomuch as he also is (
5748 )
a son of Abraham .
*
For the Son of man is come (
5627 )
to seek (
5658 )
and to save (
5658 )
that which was lost (
5756 ).
*
And as they heard (
5723 )
these things ,
he added (
5631 )
and spake (
5627 )
a parable ,
because he was (
5750 )
nigh to Jerusalem ,
and because they thought (
5721 )
that the kingdom of God should (
5719 )
immediately appear (
5745 ).
*
He said (
5627 )
therefore ,
A certain nobleman went (
5675 )
into a far country to receive (
5629 )
for himself a kingdom ,
and to return (
5658 ).
*
And he called (
5660 )
his ten servants ,
and delivered (
5656 )
them ten pounds ,
and said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Occupy (
5663 )
till I come (
5736 ).
*
But his citizens hated (
5707 )
him ,
and sent (
5656 )
a message after him ,
saying (
5723 ),
We will not have (
5719 )
this man to reign (
5658 )
over us .
*
And it came to pass (
5633 ),
that when he was returned (
5629 ),
having received (
5631 )
the kingdom ,
then he commanded (
5627 )
these servants to be called (
5683 )
unto him ,
to whom he had given (
5656 )
the money ,
that he might know (
5632 )
how much every man had gained by trading (
5662 ).
*
Then came (
5633 )
the first ,
saying (
5723 ),
Lord ,
thy pound hath gained (
5662 )
ten pounds .
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Well ,
thou good servant :
because thou hast been (
5633 )
faithful in a very little ,
have (
5723 )
thou authority (
5749 )
over ten cities .
*
And the second came (
5627 ),
saying (
5723 ),
Lord ,
thy pound hath gained (
5656 )
five pounds .
*
And he said (
5627 )
likewise to him ,
Be (
5737 )
thou also over five cities .
*
And another came (
5627 ),
saying (
5723 ),
Lord ,
behold (
5628 ),
here is thy pound ,
which I have (
5707 )
kept laid up (
5740 )
in a napkin :
*
For I feared (
5711 )
thee ,
because thou art (
5748 )
an austere man :
thou takest up (
5719 )
that thou layedst not down (
5656 ),
and reapest (
5719 )
that thou didst not sow (
5656 ).
*
And he saith (
5719 )
unto him ,
Out of thine own mouth will I judge (
5692 )
thee ,
thou wicked servant .
Thou knewest (
5715 )
that I was (
5748 )
an austere man ,
taking up (
5723 )
that I laid not down (
5656 ),
and reaping (
5723 )
that I did not sow (
5656 ):
*
Wherefore then gavest not thou (
5656 )
my money into the bank ,
that at my coming (
5631 )
I might have required (
5656 )
mine own with usury ?
*
And he said (
5627 )
unto them that stood by (
5761 ),
Take (
5657 )
from him the pound ,
and give (
5628 )
it to him that hath (
5723 )
ten pounds .
* (
And they said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Lord ,
he hath (
5719 )
ten pounds .)
*
For I say (
5719 )
unto you ,
That unto every one which hath (
5723 )
shall be given (
5701 );
and from him that hath (
5723 )
not ,
even that he hath (
5719 )
shall be taken away (
5701 )
from him .
*
But those mine enemies ,
which would (
5660 )
not that I should reign (
5658 )
over them ,
bring (
5628 )
hither ,
and slay (
5657 )
them before me .
*
And when he had thus spoken (
5631 ),
he went (
5711 )
before ,
ascending up (
5723 )
to Jerusalem .
*
And it came to pass (
5633 ),
when he was come nigh (
5656 )
to Bethphage and Bethany ,
at the mount called (
5746 )
the mount of Olives ,
he sent (
5656 )
two of his disciples ,
*
Saying (
5631 ),
Go ye (
5720 )
into the village over against you ;
in the which at your entering (
5740 )
ye shall find (
5692 )
a colt tied (
5772 ),
whereon yet never man sat (
5656 ):
loose (
5660 )
him ,
and bring (
5628 )
him hither .
*
And if any man ask (
5725 )
you ,
Why do ye loose (
5719 )
him ?
thus shall ye say (
5692 )
unto him ,
Because the Lord hath (
5719 )
need of him .
*
And they that were sent (
5772 )
went their way (
5631 ),
and found (
5627 )
even as he had said (
5627 )
unto them .
*
And as they were loosing (
5723 )
the colt ,
the owners thereof said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Why loose ye (
5719 )
the colt ?
*
And they said (
5627 ),
The Lord hath (
5719 )
need of him .
*
And they brought (
5627 )
him to Jesus :
and they cast their garments upon the colt ,
and (
5660 )
they set Jesus thereon (
5656 ).
*
And as he went (
5740 ),
they spread (
5707 )
their clothes in the way .
*
And when he was come nigh (
5723 ),
even now at the descent of the mount of Olives ,
the whole multitude of the disciples began (
5662 )
to rejoice (
5723 )
and praise (
5721 )
God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen (
5627 );
*
Saying (
5723 ),
Blessed (
5772 )
be the King that cometh (
5740 )
in the name of the Lord :
peace in heaven ,
and glory in the highest .
*
And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said (
5627 )
unto him ,
Master ,
rebuke (
5657 )
thy disciples .
*
And he answered (
5679 )
and said (
5627 )
unto them ,
I tell (
5719 )
you that ,
if these should hold their peace (
5661 ),
the stones would immediately cry out (
5688 ).
*
And when he was come near (
5656 ),
he beheld (
5631 )
the city ,
and wept (
5656 )
over it ,
*
Saying (
5723 ),
If thou hadst known (
5627 ),
even thou ,
at least in this thy day ,
the things which belong unto thy peace !
but now they are hid (
5648 )
from thine eyes .
*
For the days shall come (
5692 )
upon thee ,
that thine enemies shall cast a trench about (
5692 )
thee ,
and compass thee round (
5692 ),
and keep thee in (
5692 )
on every side ,
*
And shall lay thee even with the ground (
5692 ),
and thy children within thee ;
and they shall not leave (
5692 )
in thee one stone upon another ;
because thou knewest (
5627 )
not the time of thy visitation .
*
And he went (
5631 )
into the temple ,
and began (
5662 )
to cast out (
5721 )
them that sold (
5723 )
therein ,
and them that bought (
5723 );
*
Saying (
5723 )
unto them ,
It is written (
5769 ),
My house is (
5748 )
the house of prayer :
but ye have made (
5656 )
it a den of thieves .
*
And he taught (
5713 ) (
5723 )
daily in the temple .
But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought (
5707 )
to destroy (
5658 )
him ,
*
And could not find (
5707 )
what they might do (
5661 ):
for all the people were very attentive (
5710 )
to hear (
5723 )
him .
