Luke:15:1-16:31

emtv@Luke:15:1 @ Now all the tax collectors and the sinners were drawing near to Him to hear Him.

emtv@Luke:15:2 @ And the Pharisees and scribes were grumbling, saying, "This man receives sinners and eats with them."

emtv@Luke:15:3 @ And He told them this parable, saying:

emtv@Luke:15:4 @ What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and loses one of them, does not leave behind the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and goes after the one having been lost until he finds it?

emtv@Luke:15:5 @ And having found it, he puts [it] on his own shoulders, rejoicing.

emtv@Luke:15:6 @ And coming into the house, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!'

emtv@Luke:15:7 @ I say to you that likewise [there] shall be more joy in heaven over one sinner repenting than over ninety-nine righteous who need no repentance.

emtv@Luke:15:8 @ "Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds [it]?

emtv@Luke:15:9 @ And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin which I lost!'

emtv@Luke:15:10 @ Just so, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

emtv@Luke:15:11 @ Then He said: "A certain man had two sons.

emtv@Luke:15:12 @ And the younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give to me the share of the wealth which falls to [me].' So he divided to them his livelihood.

emtv@Luke:15:13 @ And not many days after, having gathered together all things, the younger son went on a journey to a distant country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.

emtv@Luke:15:14 @ But when he had spent everything, there arose a severe famine throughout that country, and he began to be in need.

emtv@Luke:15:15 @ Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

emtv@Luke:15:16 @ And he was longing to fill his stomach with the carob pods which the swine were eating, and no one gave him anything.

emtv@Luke:15:17 @ But having come to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have an abundance of bread, and I am perishing with hunger!

emtv@Luke:15:18 @ I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you,

emtv@Luke:15:19 @ and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants."'

emtv@Luke:15:20 @ And he arose and went to his father. But when he was still far off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, and he ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

emtv@Luke:15:21 @ And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.'

emtv@Luke:15:22 @ But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put [it] on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.

emtv@Luke:15:23 @ And bring the fatted calf here and slaughter it, and let us eat and be merry;

emtv@Luke:15:24 @ for this my son was dead and came to life, and he was lost and was found.' And they began to be merry.

emtv@Luke:15:25 @ Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.

emtv@Luke:15:26 @ And having summoned one of the servants, he was inquiring what these things might be.

emtv@Luke:15:27 @ And he said to him, 'Your brother has come, and because he has received him back in good health, your father has killed the fatted calf.'

emtv@Luke:15:28 @ But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and began to plead with him.

emtv@Luke:15:29 @ So he answered and said to his father, 'Lo, so many years I have been serving you and I never transgressed your commandment; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.

emtv@Luke:15:30 @ But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with prostitutes, you slaughtered the fatted calf for him.'

emtv@Luke:15:31 @ And he said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.

emtv@Luke:15:32 @ But it was necessary to be merry and to rejoice, because your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.' "

emtv@Luke:16:1 @ He also said to His disciples: "There was a certain rich man who had a manager, and this [man] was accused to him as wasting his possessions.

emtv@Luke:16:2 @ And calling him, he said to him, 'What is this I hear about you? Render an account of your management, for you can no longer be manager.'

emtv@Luke:16:3 @ "Then the manager said within himself, 'What shall I do? For my master is taking the management away from me. I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg.

emtv@Luke:16:4 @ I know what I will do, so that whenever I am removed from the management, they will receive me into their houses.'

emtv@Luke:16:5 @ And having summoned each one of his master's debtors to him, he said to the first, 'How much do you owe my master?'

emtv@Luke:16:6 @ And he said, 'A hundred baths of olive oil.' So he said to him, 'Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.'

emtv@Luke:16:7 @ Then he said to another, 'And how much do you owe?' So he said, 'A hundred measures of wheat.' And he said to him, 'Take your bill, and write eighty.'

emtv@Luke:16:8 @ So the master praised the unrighteous manager because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this age are shrewder in their own generation than the sons of light.

emtv@Luke:16:9 @ And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by the mammon of unrighteousness, so that whenever you fail, they may receive you into the eternal dwellings.

emtv@Luke:16:10 @ He that [is] faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he that is unjust in what is least is also unjust in much.

emtv@Luke:16:11 @ Therefore if you were not faithful with the unrighteous mammon, who will entrust to you what is genuine?

emtv@Luke:16:12 @ And if you were not faithful in what belongs to another, who will give to you what is yours?

emtv@Luke:16:13 @ No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."

emtv@Luke:16:14 @ Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were hearing all these things, and they were mocking Him.

emtv@Luke:16:15 @ And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. Because that which is exalted among men is an abomination before God.

emtv@Luke:16:16 @ The law and the prophets [were] until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone enters forcibly into it.

emtv@Luke:16:17 @ And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail.

emtv@Luke:16:18 @ Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and everyone who marries a woman who is divorced from her husband commits adultery.

emtv@Luke:16:19 @ "Now there was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen, enjoying himself splendidly every day.

emtv@Luke:16:20 @ But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores, who had been placed at his gate,

emtv@Luke:16:21 @ and longing to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. And even the dogs came and would lick his sores.

emtv@Luke:16:22 @ And it came to pass that the beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

emtv@Luke:16:23 @ And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom.

emtv@Luke:16:24 @ Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am suffering in this flame.'

emtv@Luke:16:25 @ But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things, but now here he is comforted and you are suffering.

emtv@Luke:16:26 @ And besides all this, between us and you a great gulf has been fixed, so that those who desire to cross [over ]from here to you are not able, nor may those from there cross over to us.'

emtv@Luke:16:27 @ Then he said, 'Therefore I beseech you, father, that you would send him to my father's house,

emtv@Luke:16:28 @ for I have five brothers, so that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.'

emtv@Luke:16:29 @ Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.'

emtv@Luke:16:30 @ And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if someone from the dead should go to them, they will repent.'

emtv@Luke:16:31 @ But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded should one rise from the dead.' "
