Luke:6:1-11

tcent@Luke:6:1 @ One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grain fields, and his disciples plucked and ate some heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands.

tcent@Luke:6:2 @ But some of the Pharisees said, »Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?«

tcent@Luke:6:3 @ Jesus answered them, »Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him:

tcent@Luke:6:4 @ how he entered the house of God, took and ate the consecrated bread, and also gave some to those with him, which is not lawful for any but the priests to eat?«

tcent@Luke:6:5 @ And he said to them, »The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.«

tcent@Luke:6:6 @ On another Sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught, and a man was there whose right hand was withered.

tcent@Luke:6:7 @ The scribes and the Pharisees watched him closely, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might find an accusation against him.

tcent@Luke:6:8 @ But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had the withered hand, »Rise and stand here.« And he rose and stood there.

tcent@Luke:6:9 @ Then Jesus said to them, »I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?«

tcent@Luke:6:10 @ And he looked around at them all, and said to the man, »Stretch out your hand.« He did so, and his hand was restored.

tcent@Luke:6:11 @ But they were filled with fury and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.
