Luke:6
Seeker Overlay ON
*
And it came to pass (
5633 )
on the second sabbath after the first ,
that he went (
5738 )
through the corn fields ;
and his disciples plucked (
5707 )
the ears of corn ,
and did eat (
5707 ),
rubbing (
5723 )
them in their hands .
*
And certain of the Pharisees said (
5627 )
unto them ,
Why do ye (
5719 )
that which is not lawful (
5748 )
to do (
5721 )
on the sabbath days ?
*
And Jesus answering (
5679 )
them said (
5627 ),
Have ye not read (
5627 )
so much as this ,
what David did (
5656 ),
when himself was an hungred (
5656 ),
and they which were (
5752 )
with him ;
*
How he went (
5627 )
into the house of God ,
and did take (
5627 )
and eat (
5627 )
the shewbread ,
and gave (
5656 )
also to them that were with him ;
which it is not lawful (
5748 )
to eat (
5629 )
but for the priests alone ?
*
And he said (
5707 )
unto them ,
That the Son of man is (
5748 )
Lord also of the sabbath .
*
And it came to pass (
5633 )
also on another sabbath ,
that he entered (
5629 )
into the synagogue and taught (
5721 ):
and there was (
5713 )
a man whose right hand was (
5713 )
withered .
*
And the scribes and Pharisees watched (
5707 )
him ,
whether he would heal (
5692 )
on the sabbath day ;
that they might find (
5632 )
an accusation against him .
*
But he knew (
5715 )
their thoughts ,
and said (
5627 )
to the man which had (
5723 )
the withered hand ,
Rise up (
5669 ),
and stand forth (
5628 )
in the midst .
And he arose (
5631 )
and stood forth (
5627 ).
*
Then said (
5627 )
Jesus unto them ,
I will ask (
5692 )
you one thing ;
Is it lawful (
5748 )
on the sabbath days to do good (
5658 ),
or to do evil (
5658 )?
to save (
5658 )
life ,
or to destroy (
5658 )
it ?
*
And looking round about upon (
5671 )
them all ,
he said (
5627 )
unto the man ,
Stretch forth (
5657 )
thy hand .
And he did (
5656 )
so :
and his hand was restored (
5681 )
whole as the other .
*
And they were filled (
5681 )
with madness ;
and communed (
5707 )
one with another what they might do (
5659 )
to Jesus .
*
And it came to pass (
5633 )
in those days ,
that he went out (
5627 )
into a mountain to pray (
5664 ),
and continued all night (
5723 ) (
5713 )
in prayer to God .
*
And when it was (
5633 )
day ,
he called (
5656 )
unto him his disciples :
and of them he chose (
5671 )
twelve ,
whom also he named (
5656 )
apostles ;
*
Simon , (
whom he also named (
5656 )
Peter ,)
and Andrew his brother ,
James and John ,
Philip and Bartholomew ,
*
Matthew and Thomas ,
James the son of Alphaeus ,
and Simon called (
5746 )
Zelotes ,
*
And Judas the brother of James ,
and Judas Iscariot ,
which also was (
5633 )
the traitor .
*
And he came down (
5631 )
with them ,
and stood (
5627 )
in the plain ,
and the company of his disciples ,
d a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem ,
and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon ,
which came (
5627 )
to hear (
5658 )
him ,
and to be healed (
5683 )
of their diseases ;
*
And they that were vexed (
5746 )
with unclean spirits :
and they were healed (
5712 ).
*
And the whole multitude sought (
5707 )
to touch (
5733 )
him :
for there went (
5711 )
virtue out of him ,
and healed (
5711 )
them all .
*
And he lifted up (
5660 )
his eyes on his disciples ,
and said (
5707 ),
Blessed be ye poor :
for yours is (
5748 )
the kingdom of God .
*
Blessed are ye that hunger (
5723 )
now :
for ye shall be filled (
5701 ).
Blessed are ye that weep (
5723 )
now :
for ye shall laugh (
5692 ).
*
Blessed are ye (
5748 ),
when men shall hate (
5661 )
you ,
and when they shall separate (
5661 )
you from their company ,
and shall reproach (
5661 )
you ,
and cast out (
5632 )
your name as evil ,
for the Son of mans sake .
*
Rejoice ye (
5720 )
in that day ,
and leap for joy (
5657 ):
for ,
behold (
5628 ),
your reward is great in heaven :
for in the like manner did (
5707 )
their fathers unto the prophets .
*
But woe unto you that are rich !
for ye have received (
5719 )
your consolation .
*
Woe unto you that are full (
5772 )!
for ye shall hunger (
5692 ).
Woe unto you that laugh (
5723 )
now !
for ye shall mourn (
5692 )
and weep (
5692 ).
*
Woe unto you ,
when all men shall speak (
5632 )
well of you !
for so did (
5707 )
their fathers to the false prophets .
*
But I say (
5719 )
unto you which hear (
5723 ),
Love (
5720 )
your enemies ,
do (
5720 )
good to them which hate (
5723 )
you ,
*
Bless (
5720 )
them that curse (
5740 )
you ,
and pray (
5737 )
for them which despitefully use (
5723 )
you .
*
And unto him that smiteth (
5723 )
thee on the one cheek offer (
5720 )
also the other ;
and him that taketh away (
5723 )
thy cloke forbid (
5661 )
not to take thy coat also .
*
Give (
5720 )
to every man that asketh (
5723 )
of thee ;
and of him that taketh away (
5723 )
thy goods ask them not again (
5720 ).
*
And as ye would (
5719 )
that men should do (
5725 )
to you ,
do (
5720 )
ye also to them likewise .
*
For if ye love (
5719 )
them which love (
5723 )
you ,
what thank have (
5748 )
ye ?
for sinners also love (
5723 )
those that love (
5719 )
them .
*
And if ye do good (
5725 )
to them which do good (
5723 )
to you ,
what thank have (
5748 )
ye ?
for sinners also do (
5719 )
even the same .
*
And if ye lend (
5725 )
to them of whom ye hope (
5719 ) (
5625 ) (
5725 )
to receive (
5629 ),
what thank have (
5748 )
ye ?
for sinners also lend (
5719 )
to sinners ,
to receive as much again (
5632 ).
*
But love ye (
5720 )
your enemies ,
and do good (
5720 ),
and lend (
5720 ),
hoping for nothing again (
5723 );
and your reward shall be (
5704 )
great ,
and ye shall be (
5704 )
the children of the Highest :
for he is (
5748 )
kind unto the unthankful and to the evil .
*
Be ye (
5737 )
therefore merciful ,
as your Father also is (
5748 )
merciful .
*
Judge (
5720 )
not ,
and ye shall not be judged (
5686 ):
condemn (
5720 )
not ,
and ye shall not be condemned (
5686 ):
forgive (
5720 ),
and ye shall be forgiven (
5701 ):
*
Give (
5720 ),
and it shall be given (
5701 )
unto you ;
good measure ,
pressed down (
5772 ),
and shaken together (
5772 ),
and running over (
5746 ),
shall men give (
5692 )
into your bosom .
For with the same measure that ye mete withal (
5719 )
it shall be measured to you again (
5701 ).
*
And he spake (
5627 )
a parable unto them ,
Can (
5736 )
the blind lead (
5721 )
the blind ?
shall they not both fall (
5699 )
into the ditch ?
*
The disciple is (
5748 )
not above his master :
but every one that is perfect (
5772 )
shall be (
5704 )
as his master .
*
And why beholdest thou (
5719 )
the mote that is in thy brothers eye ,
but perceivest (
5719 )
not the beam that is in thine own eye ?
*
Either how canst thou (
5736 )
say (
5721 )
to thy brother ,
Brother ,
let me (
5628 )
pull out (
5632 )
the mote that is in thine eye ,
when thou thyself beholdest (
5723 )
not the beam that is in thine own eye ?
Thou hypocrite ,
cast out (
5628 )
first the beam out of thine own eye ,
and then shalt thou see clearly (
5692 )
to pull out (
5629 )
the mote that is in thy brothers eye .
*
For a good tree bringeth (
5748 )
not forth (
5723 )
corrupt fruit ;
neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth (
5723 )
good fruit .
*
For every tree is known (
5743 )
by his own fruit .
For of thorns men do not gather (
5719 )
figs ,
nor of a bramble bush gather they (
5719 )
grapes .
*
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth (
5719 )
that which is good ;
and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth (
5719 )
that which is evil :
for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh (
5719 ).
*
And why call ye (
5719 )
me ,
Lord ,
Lord ,
and do (
5719 )
not the things which I say (
5719 )?
*
Whosoever cometh (
5740 )
to me ,
and heareth (
5723 )
my sayings ,
and doeth (
5723 )
them ,
I will shew (
5692 )
you to whom he is (
5748 )
like :
*
He is (
5748 )
like a man which built (
5723 )
an house ,
and digged (
5656 )
deep (
5656 ),
and laid (
5656 )
the foundation on a rock :
and when the flood arose (
5637 ),
the stream beat vehemently (
5656 )
upon that house ,
and could (
5656 )
not shake (
5658 )
it :
for it was founded (
5718 )
upon a rock .
*
But he that heareth (
5660 ),
and doeth (
5660 )
not ,
is (
5748 )
like a man that without a foundation built (
5660 )
an house upon the earth ;
against which the stream did beat vehemently (
5656 ),
and immediately it fell (
5627 );
and the ruin of that house was (
5633 )
great .
