* The day following , he went into a city called Nain , accompanied by his disciples , and a great crowd . * As he approached the gate of the city , the people were carrying out a dead man , the only son of his mother , who was a widow ; and many of the citizens were with her . * When the Lord saw her , he had pity upon her , and said to her , * Then he advanced and touched the bier , (the bearers stopping ,) and said , * Then he who had been dead , sat up , and began to speak , and he delivered him to his mother . * And all present were struck with awe , and glorified God , saying , A great prophet has arisen among us ; and God has visited his people . * And this report , concerning him , spread throughout Judea , and all the neighboring country .
