Luke:8:4-21

tcent@Luke:8:4 @ And when a great crowd came together and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable:

tcent@Luke:8:5 @ »A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it.

tcent@Luke:8:6 @ Some fell on the rock; and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture.

tcent@Luke:8:7 @ And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it.

tcent@Luke:8:8 @ But others fell on good soil, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold.« When he had said this he called out, »He who has ears to hear, let him hear!«

tcent@Luke:8:9 @ When his disciples asked him what this parable meant,

tcent@Luke:8:10 @ he said, »To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God; but to others it is given in parables, so that

tcent@Luke:8:11 @ »Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

tcent@Luke:8:12 @ The ones along the path are those who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, that they may not believe and be saved.

tcent@Luke:8:14 @ And the ones that fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.

tcent@Luke:8:15 @ But the ones that fell on the good soil are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

tcent@Luke:8:16 @ »No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light.

tcent@Luke:8:17 @ For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.

tcent@Luke:8:18 @ Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken from him.«

tcent@Luke:8:19 @ Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd.

tcent@Luke:8:20 @ And it was told him, »Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see you.«

tcent@Luke:8:21 @ But he said to them, »My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.«
