* Jesus , having convened the twelve , gave them power and authority over all the demons , and to cure diseases ; * and sent them to proclaim the Reign of God , and to heal the sick . * And he said to them , lont @Luke:9:4 " /> lont @Luke:9:5 " /> * They accordingly departed , and traveled through the villages , publishing the good tidings , and performing cures everywhere . * Now Herod , the tetrarch , having heard of all that Jesus had done , was perplexed ; because some said , John is risen from the dead ; * and some , Elijah has appeared ; and others , One of the ancient prophets is risen again . * And Herod said , John I beheaded ; but who is this , of whom I hear such things ? And he was desirous to see him .
