* And the Pharisees came to him (5631 ), and asked (5656 ) him , Is it lawful (5748 ) for a man to put away (5658 ) his wife ? tempting (5723 ) him . * And he answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , What did Moses command (5662 ) you ? * And they said (5627 ), Moses suffered (5656 ) to write (5658 ) a bill of divorcement , and to put her away (5658 ). * And Jesus answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , For the hardness of your heart he wrote (5656 ) you this precept . * But from the beginning of the creation God made (5656 ) them male and female . * For this cause shall a man leave (5692 ) his father and mother , and cleave (5701 ) to his wife ; * And they twain shall be (5704 ) one flesh : so then they are (5748 ) no more twain , but one flesh . * What therefore God hath joined together (5656 ), let not man put asunder (5720 ). * And in the house his disciples asked (5656 ) him again of the same matter . * And he saith (5719 ) unto them , Whosoever shall put away (5661 ) his wife , and marry (5661 ) another , committeth adultery (5736 ) against her . * And if a woman shall put away (5661 ) her husband , and be married (5686 ) to another , she committeth adultery (5736 ).
