* And on the morrow , when they had come from Bethany , he was hungry ; * and seeing a fig –tree afar off having leaves , he went to see whether he might find anything on it ; and on coming to it he found nothing but leaves ; for the season of figs had not come . * And he answering said to it , Let no one eat fruit from thee henceforth for ever . And his disciples heard him . * And they come to Jerusalem . And he went into the temple , and began to cast out those who sold and bought in the temple , and overturned the tables of the money –changers , and the seats of those who sold the doves ; * and he suffered no one to carry any vessel through the temple . * And he taught , and said to them , Is it not written , "My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations ? but ye have made it a den of robbers ." * And the chief priests and the scribes heard it , and sought how they might destroy him ; for they feared him ; because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching . * And when it became late , he went out of the city .
