* Now the birth of Jesus Christ was (5713 ) on this wise : When as his mother Mary was espoused (5685 ) to Joseph , before they came together (5629 ), she was found (5681 ) with child (5723 ) of the Holy Ghost . * Then Joseph her husband , being (5752 ) a just man , and not willing (5723 ) to make her a publick example (5658 ), was minded (5675 ) to put her away (5658 ) privily . * But while he thought on (5679 ) these things , behold (5628 ), the angel of the Lord appeared (5648 ) unto him in a dream , saying (5723 ), Joseph , thou son of David , fear (5680 ) not to take (5629 ) unto thee Mary thy wife : for that which is conceived (5685 ) in her is (5748 ) of the Holy Ghost . * And she shall bring forth (5695 ) a son , and thou shalt call (5692 ) his name JESUS : for he shall save (5692 ) his people from their sins . * Now all this was done (5754 ), that it might be fulfilled (5686 ) which was spoken (5685 ) of the Lord by the prophet , saying (5723 ), * Behold (5628 ), a virgin shall be with child (5692 ), and shall bring forth (5695 ) a son , and they shall call (5692 ) his name Emmanuel , which being interpreted (5746 ) is (5748 ), God with us . * Then Joseph being raised (5685 ) from sleep did (5656 ) as the angel of the Lord had bidden (5656 ) him , and took (5627 ) unto him his wife : * And knew (5707 ) her not till she had brought forth (5627 ) her firstborn son : and he called (5656 ) his name JESUS .
