* Then some of the scholars and Pharisees answered , saying , Teacher , we want to see a sign from thee . * But having answered , he said to them , An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign , and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet . * For as Jonah was in the belly of the sea-creature three days and three nights , so the Son of man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights . * The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation , and will condemn it , because they repented at the preaching of Jonah , and behold , a greater than Jonah is here . * The queen of the south will rise up in the judgment with this generation , and will condemn it , because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon , and behold , a greater than Solomon is here . * But when the unclean spirit goes forth out of the man , it passes through waterless places , seeking rest , and finds it not . * Then it says , I will return into my house from where I came out . And when it comes , it finds it empty , swept , and put in order . * Then it goes , and takes with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself , and having enter in , they dwell there . And the last state of that man becomes worse than the first . So it will also be to this evil generation .
