* At the same time came (5656 ) the disciples unto Jesus , saying (5723 ), Who is (5748 ) the greatest in the kingdom of heaven ? * And Jesus called a little child unto him (5666 ), and set (5656 ) him in the midst of them , * And said (5627 ), Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , Except ye be converted (5652 ), and become (5638 ) as little children , ye shall not enter (5632 ) into the kingdom of heaven . * Whosoever therefore shall humble (5661 ) himself as this little child , the same is (5748 ) greatest in the kingdom of heaven . * And whoso shall receive (5667 ) one such little child in my name receiveth (5736 ) me . * But whoso shall offend (5661 ) one of these little ones which believe (5723 ) in me , it were better (5719 ) for him that a millstone were hanged (5686 ) about his neck , and that he were drowned (5686 ) in the depth of the sea . * Woe unto the world because of offences ! for it must needs be (5748 ) that offences come (5629 ); but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh (5736 )! * Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee (5719 ), cut them off (5657 ), and cast (5628 ) them from thee : it is (5748 ) better for thee to enter into (5629 ) life halt or maimed , rather than having (5723 ) two hands or two feet to be cast (5683 ) into everlasting fire . * And if thine eye offend (5719 ) thee , pluck it out (5628 ), and cast (5628 ) it from thee : it is (5748 ) better for thee to enter (5629 ) into life with one eye , rather than having (5723 ) two eyes to be cast (5683 ) into hell fire . * Take heed (5720 ) that ye despise (5661 ) not one of these little ones ; for I say (5719 ) unto you , That in heaven their angels do always behold (5719 ) the face of my Father which is in heaven . * For the Son of man is come (5627 ) to save (5658 ) that which was lost (5756 ). * How think (5719 ) ye ? if a man have (5638 ) an hundred sheep , and one of them be gone astray (5686 ), doth he not leave (5631 ) the ninety and nine , and goeth (5679 ) into the mountains , and seeketh (5719 ) that which is gone astray (5746 )? * And if so be (5638 ) that he find (5629 ) it , verily I say (5719 ) unto you , he rejoiceth (5719 ) more of that sheep , than of the ninety and nine which went not astray (5772 ). * Even so it is (5748 ) not the will of your Father which is in heaven , that one of these little ones should perish (5643 ). * Moreover if thy brother shall trespass (5661 ) against thee , go (5720 ) and tell him his fault (5657 ) between thee and him alone : if he shall hear (5661 ) thee , thou hast gained (5656 ) thy brother . * But if he will not hear (5661 ) thee , then take (5628 ) with thee one or two more , that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established (5686 ). * And if he shall neglect to hear (5661 ) them , tell (5628 ) it unto the church : but if he neglect to hear (5661 ) the church , let him be (5749 ) unto thee as an heathen man and a publican . * Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , Whatsoever ye shall bind (5661 ) on earth shall be (5704 ) bound (5772 ) in heaven : and whatsoever ye shall loose (5661 ) on earth shall be (5704 ) loosed (5772 ) in heaven . * Again I say (5719 ) unto you , That if two of you shall agree (5661 ) on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask (5672 ), it shall be done (5695 ) for them of my Father which is in heaven . * For where two or three are (5748 ) gathered together (5772 ) in my name , there am I (5748 ) in the midst of them . * Then came (5631 ) Peter to him , and said (5627 ), Lord , how oft shall my brother sin (5692 ) against me , and I forgive (5692 ) him ? till seven times ? * Jesus saith (5719 ) unto him , I say (5719 ) not unto thee , Until seven times : but , Until seventy times seven . * Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened (5681 ) unto a certain king , which would (5656 ) take (5658 ) account of his servants . * And when he had begun (5671 ) to reckon (5721 ), one was brought (5681 ) unto him , which owed him ten thousand talents . * But forasmuch as he had (5723 ) not to pay (5629 ), his lord commanded (5656 ) him to be sold (5683 ), and his wife , and children , and all that he had (5707 ), and payment to be made (5683 ). * The servant therefore fell down (5631 ), and worshipped (5707 ) him , saying (5723 ), Lord , have patience (5657 ) with me , and I will pay (5692 ) thee all . * Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion (5679 ), and loosed (5656 ) him , and forgave (5656 ) him the debt . * But the same servant went out (5631 ), and found (5627 ) one of his fellowservants , which owed (5707 ) him an hundred pence : and he laid hands (5660 ) on him , and took him by the throat (5707 ), saying (5723 ), Pay (5628 ) me that thou owest (5719 ). * And his fellowservant fell down (5631 ) at his feet , and besought (5707 ) him , saying (5723 ), Have patience (5657 ) with me , and I will pay (5692 ) thee all . * And he would (5707 ) not : but went (5631 ) and cast (5627 ) him into prison , till he should pay (5632 ) the debt (5746 ). * So when his fellowservants saw (5631 ) what was done (5637 ), they were very sorry (5681 ), and came (5631 ) and told (5656 ) unto their lord all that was done (5637 ). * Then his lord , after that he had called (5666 ) him , said (5719 ) unto him , O thou wicked servant , I forgave (5656 ) thee all that debt , because thou desiredst (5656 ) me : * Shouldest (5713 ) not thou also have had compassion (5658 ) on thy fellowservant , even as I had pity (5656 ) on thee ? * And his lord was wroth (5685 ), and delivered (5656 ) him to the tormentors , till he should pay (5632 ) all that was due (5746 ) unto him . * So likewise shall my heavenly Father do (5692 ) also unto you , if ye from your hearts forgive (5632 ) not every one his brother their trespasses . * And it came to pass (5633 ), that when Jesus had finished (5656 ) these sayings , he departed (5656 ) from Galilee , and came (5627 ) into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan ; * And great multitudes followed (5656 ) him ; and he healed (5656 ) them there . * The Pharisees also came (5656 ) unto him , tempting (5723 ) him , and saying (5723 ) unto him , Is it lawful (5748 ) for a man to put away (5658 ) his wife for every cause ? * And he answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , Have ye not read (5627 ), that he which made (5660 ) them at the beginning made (5656 ) them male and female , * And said (5627 ), For this cause shall a man leave (5692 ) father and mother , and shall cleave (5701 ) to his wife : and they twain shall be (5704 ) one flesh ? * Wherefore they are (5748 ) no more twain , but one flesh . What therefore God hath joined together (5656 ), let not man put asunder (5720 ). * They say (5719 ) unto him , Why did Moses then command (5662 ) to give (5629 ) a writing of divorcement , and to put her away (5658 )? * He saith (5719 ) unto them , Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered (5656 ) you to put away (5658 ) your wives : but from the beginning it was (5754 ) not so . * And I say (5719 ) unto you , Whosoever shall put away (5661 ) his wife , except it be for fornication , and shall marry (5661 ) another , committeth adultery (5736 ): and whoso marrieth (5660 ) her which is put away (5772 ) doth commit adultery (5736 ). * His disciples say (5719 ) unto him , If the case of the man be (5748 ) so with his wife , it is not good (5719 ) to marry (5658 ). * But he said (5627 ) unto them , All men cannot receive (5719 ) this saying , save they to whom it is given (5769 ). * For there are (5748 ) some eunuchs , which were so born (5681 ) from their mothers womb : and there are (5748 ) some eunuchs , which were made eunuchs (5656 ) of men : and there be (5748 ) eunuchs , which have made themselves eunuchs (5656 ) for the kingdom of heavens sake . He that is able (5740 ) to receive (5721 ) it , let him receive (5720 ) it . * Then were there brought (5681 ) unto him little children , that he should put his hands on (5632 ) them , and pray (5667 ): and the disciples rebuked (5656 ) them . * But Jesus said (5627 ), Suffer (5628 ) little children , and forbid (5720 ) them not , to come (5629 ) unto me : for of such is (5748 ) the kingdom of heaven . * And he laid his hands on (5631 ) them , and departed (5675 ) thence . * And , behold (5628 ), one came (5631 ) and said (5627 ) unto him , Good Master , what good thing shall I do (5661 ), that I may have (5725 ) eternal life ? * And he said (5627 ) unto him , Why callest thou (5719 ) me good ? there is none good but one , that is , God : but if thou wilt (5719 ) enter (5629 ) into life , keep (5657 ) the commandments . * He saith (5719 ) unto him , Which ? Jesus said (5627 ), Thou shalt do no murder (5692 ), Thou shalt not commit adultery (5692 ), Thou shalt not steal (5692 ), Thou shalt not bear false witness (5692 ), * Honour (5720 ) thy father and thy mother : and , Thou shalt love (5692 ) thy neighbour as thyself . * The young man saith (5719 ) unto him , All these things have I kept (5668 ) from my youth up : what lack (5719 ) I yet ? * Jesus said (5713 ) unto him , If thou wilt (5719 ) be (5750 ) perfect , go (5720 ) and sell (5657 ) that thou hast (5723 ), and give (5628 ) to the poor , and thou shalt have (5692 ) treasure in heaven : and come (5773 ) and follow (5720 ) me . * But when the young man heard (5660 ) that saying , he went away (5627 ) sorrowful (5746 ): for he had (5723 ) (5713 ) great possessions . * Then said (5627 ) Jesus unto his disciples , Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , That a rich man shall hardly enter (5695 ) into the kingdom of heaven . * And again I say (5719 ) unto you , It is (5748 ) easier for a camel to go (5629 ) through the eye of a needle , than for a rich man to enter (5629 ) into the kingdom of God . * When his disciples heard (5660 ) it , they were exceedingly amazed (5712 ), saying (5723 ), Who then can (5736 ) be saved (5683 )? * But Jesus beheld (5660 ) them , and said (5627 ) unto them , With men this is (5748 ) impossible ; but with God all things are (5748 ) possible . * Then answered (5679 ) Peter and said (5627 ) unto him , Behold (5628 ), we have forsaken (5656 ) all , and followed (5656 ) thee ; what shall we have (5704 ) therefore ? * And Jesus said (5627 ) unto them , Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , That ye which have followed (5660 ) me , in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit (5661 ) in the throne of his glory , ye also shall sit (5695 ) upon twelve thrones , judging (5723 ) the twelve tribes of Israel . * And every one that hath forsaken (5656 ) houses , or brethren , or sisters , or father , or mother , or wife , or children , or lands , for my names sake , shall receive (5695 ) an hundredfold , and shall inherit (5692 ) everlasting life . * But many that are first shall be (5704 ) last ; and the last shall be first . * For the kingdom of heaven is (5748 ) like unto a man that is an householder , which went out (5627 ) early in the morning to hire (5670 ) labourers into his vineyard .
