* For the kingdom of heaven is (5748 ) like unto a man that is an householder , which went out (5627 ) early in the morning to hire (5670 ) labourers into his vineyard . * And when he had agreed (5660 ) with the labourers for a penny a day , he sent (5656 ) them into his vineyard . * And he went out (5631 ) about the third hour , and saw (5627 ) others standing (5761 ) idle in the marketplace , * And said (5627 ) unto them ; Go (5720 ) ye also into the vineyard , and whatsoever is (5753 ) right I will give (5692 ) you . And they went their way (5627 ). * Again he went out (5631 ) about the sixth and ninth hour , and did (5656 ) likewise . * And about the eleventh hour he went out (5631 ), and found (5627 ) others standing (5761 ) idle , and saith (5719 ) unto them , Why stand ye (5758 ) here all the day idle ? * They say (5719 ) unto him , Because no man hath hired (5668 ) us . He saith (5719 ) unto them , Go (5720 ) ye also into the vineyard ; and whatsoever is (5753 ) right , that shall ye receive (5695 ). * So when even was come (5637 ), the lord of the vineyard saith (5719 ) unto his steward , Call (5657 ) the labourers , and give (5628 ) them their hire , beginning (5671 ) from the last unto the first . * And when they came (5631 ) that were hired about the eleventh hour , they received (5627 ) every man a penny . * But when the first came (5631 ), they supposed (5656 ) that they should have received (5695 ) more ; and they likewise received (5627 ) every man a penny . * And when they had received (5631 ) it , they murmured (5707 ) against the goodman of the house , * Saying (5723 ), These last have wrought (5656 ) but one hour , and thou hast made (5656 ) them equal unto us , which have borne (5660 ) the burden and heat of the day . * But he answered (5679 ) one of them , and said (5627 ), Friend , I do thee no wrong (5719 ): didst not thou agree (5656 ) with me for a penny ? * Take (5657 ) that thine is , and go thy way (5720 ): I will (5719 ) give (5629 ) unto this last , even as unto thee .
