* Jesus left the temple and was going away , when his disciples came up to point out to him the buildings of the temple . * But he answered them , »You see all these things , do you not ? Truly , I say to you , there will not be left here one stone upon another , that will not be thrown down .« * Now as he sat on the Mount of Olives , the disciples came to him privately , saying , »Tell us , when will this be ? And what will be the sign of your coming , and of the end of the age ?« * And Jesus answered them : »Take heed that no one deceives you . * For many will come in my name , saying , ‘I am the Christ ,’ and will deceive many . * And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars . See that you are not alarmed ; for all these things must come to pass , but the end is not yet . * For nation will rise against nation , and kingdom against kingdom , and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places . * All these are the beginning of birth pains . * Then they will deliver you up to tribulation , and put you to death ; and you will be hated by all nations for my name ’s sake . * And then many will fall away , and will betray one another , and hate one another . * And many false prophets will rise up and deceive many . * And because wickedness will increase , the love of most will grow cold . * But he who endures to the end will be saved . * And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations , and then the end will come . * »So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination of desolation ,’ spoken of by the prophet Daniel (let the reader understand ) * then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains . * Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house . * And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes . * But woe for those who are pregnant and for those who are nursing babies in those days ! * Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath . * For then there will be great tribulation , such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now , no , and never will be . * And if those days had not been shortened , no flesh would be saved ; but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened . * Then if any one says to you , ‘Look , here is the Christ !’ or ‘There he is !’ do not believe it . * For false christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders to deceive , if possible , even the elect . * See , I have told you beforehand . * So if they say to you , ‘There he is , out in the desert ,’ do not go out ; or , ‘Here he is , in the inner rooms ,’ do not believe it . * For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west , so also will the coming of the Son of Man be . * Wherever the carcass is , there the eagles will be gathered together . * »Immediately after the tribulation of those days * Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven , and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn , and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory . * And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call , and they will gather together his elect from the four winds , from one end of heaven to the other . * »Now learn this lesson from the fig tree : as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves , you know that summer is near . * So also , when you see all these things , you know that it is near , right at the door . * Truly , I say to you , this generation will not pass away till all these things take place . * Heaven and earth will pass away , but my words will not pass away .
