* Now the chief priests , the elders , and all the Sanhedrin were seeking false witnesses against Jesus , so that they might put Him to death , * and they did not find [any ]. And though many false witnesses came forward , they did not find [any ]. But at last two false witnesses came forward * and said , "This [Man ] said , 'I am able to destroy the temple of God , and after three days to rebuild it .' "
