* Now when Jesus was (5637 ) in Bethany , in the house of Simon the leper , * There came (5627 ) unto him a woman having (5723 ) an alabaster box of very precious ointment , and poured it (5656 ) on his head , as he sat (5740 ) at meat . * But when his disciples saw (5631 ) it , they had indignation (5656 ), saying (5723 ), To what purpose is this waste ? * For this ointment might (5711 ) have been sold (5683 ) for much , and given (5683 ) to the poor . * When Jesus understood (5631 ) it , he said (5627 ) unto them , Why trouble ye (5719 ) the woman ? for she hath wrought (5662 ) a good work upon me . * For ye have (5719 ) the poor always with you ; but me ye have (5719 ) not always . * For in that she (5625 ) hath poured (5631 ) this ointment on my body , she did (5656 ) it for my burial (5658 ). * Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached (5686 ) in the whole world , there shall also this , that this woman (5625 ) hath done (5656 ), be told (5701 ) for a memorial of her .
