Matthew:27:45-56




noyes@Matthew:27:45 @ And from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land, until the ninth hour.

noyes@Matthew:27:46 @ And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

noyes@Matthew:27:47 @ Some of those standing there, when they heard this, said, This man is calling for Elijah.

noyes@Matthew:27:48 @ And one of them immediately ran and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink.

noyes@Matthew:27:50 @ And Jesus, crying out again with a loud voice, yielded up his spirit.

noyes@Matthew:27:51 @ And, lo! the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom; and the earth, quaked, and the rocks were rent,

noyes@Matthew:27:52 @ and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of holy men that slept, arose,

noyes@Matthew:27:53 @ and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection went into the holy city and appeared to many.

noyes@Matthew:27:54 @ And the centurion and they who with him were watching Jesus, when they saw the earthquake, and what was taking place, were exceedingly afraid, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

noyes@Matthew:27:55 @ And many women were there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, rendering services to him;

noyes@Matthew:27:56 @ among whom was Mary the Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
