* Therefore whosoever heareth (5719 ) these sayings of mine , and doeth (5719 ) them , I will liken (5692 ) him unto a wise man , which built (5656 ) his house upon a rock : * And the rain descended (5627 ), and the floods came (5627 ), and the winds blew (5656 ), and beat upon (5627 ) that house ; and it fell (5627 ) not : for it was founded (5718 ) upon a rock . * And every one that heareth (5723 ) these sayings of mine , and doeth (5723 ) them not , shall be likened (5701 ) unto a foolish man , which built (5656 ) his house upon the sand : * And the rain descended (5627 ), and the floods came (5627 ), and the winds blew (5656 ), and beat upon (5656 ) that house ; and it fell (5627 ): and great was (5713 ) the fall of it . * And it came to pass (5633 ), when Jesus had ended (5656 ) these sayings , the people were astonished (5712 ) at his doctrine : * For he taught (5723 ) (5713 ) them as one having (5723 ) authority , and not as the scribes .
