* and others fell on the rocky places , where they did not have much earth : and right away they sprang up , because they had no deepness of earth : * and when the sun had risen , they were scorched ; and because they had no root , they withered away . * And others fell on the thorns ; and the thorns grew up and choked them : * and others fell on the good ground , and yielded fruit , some a hundredfold , some sixty , some thirty . * He who has ears , let him hear . * And the disciples came , and said to him , Why do you speak to them in parables ? * And he answered and said to them , To you (note :){+}(:note ) it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven , but to them it is not given . * For whoever has , to him will be given , and he will have abundance : but whoever does not have , from him will be taken away even that which he has . * Therefore I speak to them in parables ; because seeing they don 't see , and hearing they don 't hear , neither do they understand .
