Nehemiah:8-13

gltv@Nehemiah:8:1 @ And all the people gathered as one man into the plaza before the Water Gate. And they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses, which Jehovah had commanded to Israel.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:2 @ And Ezra the priest brought the Law before the congregation, both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:3 @ And he read in it before the plaza before the Water Gate, from the morning until noon, before the men and the women, and those who could understand. And the ears of all the people listened to the Book of the Law.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:4 @ And Ezra the scribe stood on a pulpit of wood which they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand were Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:5 @ And Ezra opened the book to the eyes of all the people, for he was above all the people. And when he opened it, all the people stood up.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:6 @ And Ezra blessed Jehovah, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, lifting up their hands. And they bowed and worshiped to Jehovah with their noses to the ground.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:7 @ And Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the Law. And the people were in their place.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:8 @ And they read aloud clearly in the Book of the Law of God, and they gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:9 @ And the governor, and Ezra the priest, the scribe, and the Levites who taught the people, said to all the people, This day is holy to Jehovah your God. Do not mourn or weep, For all the people wept when they heard the words of the Law.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:10 @ Then he said to them, Go eat the fat, and drink of the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared. For this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be sorry, for the joy of Jehovah is your stronghold.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:11 @ And the Levites were silencing all the people, saying, Be quiet, for today is holy, and do not be grieved.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:12 @ And all the people went to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great rejoicing, because they had understood the words which were made known to them.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:13 @ And on the second day the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, were gathered to Ezra the scribe even to understand the words of the Law.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:14 @ And they found written in the Law which Jehovah had commanded by Moses, that the sons of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:

gltv@Nehemiah:8:15 @ and that they should make heard and cause to pass the call in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth to the mountain and bring olive branches and wild olive branches, and myrtle branches, and branches of palm, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:16 @ And the people went out and brought in, and made booths for themselves, each man on his roof and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the plaza of the Water Gate, and in the plaza of the Ephraim Gate.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:17 @ And all the congregation of those who had come again out of the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths. For since the days of Joshua the son of Nun until that day, the sons of Israel had not done so. And there was very great gladness.

gltv@Nehemiah:8:18 @ Also day by day, from the first day until the last day, he read in the Book of the Law of God. And they made the feast seven days, and on the eighth day was an assembly according to the Law.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:1 @ And on the twenty fourth day of this month the sons of Israel were gathered with fasting and with sackcloth, and with earth on them.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:2 @ And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all the sons of aliens, and they stood and confessed their sins and the sins of their fathers.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:3 @ And they stood up in their place and read in the Book of the Law of Jehovah their God a fourth part of the day. And a fourth part they confessed and worshiped Jehovah their God.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:4 @ Then Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani and Chenani, of the Levites stood on the stairs and cried with a loud voice to Jehovah their God.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:5 @ Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah said, Stand up! Bless Jehovah your God forever and ever. And blessed be the Name of Your Glory, even He being exalted above all blessing and praise.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:6 @ You alone are He, O Jehovah; You have made the heavens, and heavens of the heavens, and all their host; the earth and all which is on it; the seas, and all that is in them; and You shall preserve them all alive. And the host of the heavens bows down to You.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:7 @ You are Jehovah the God who chose Abram, and brought him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and appointed his name Abraham.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:8 @ And You found his heart faithful before You, and cut with him the covenant to give the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite, and the Girgashite, to give it to his seed. And You have performed Your words, for You are righteous.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:9 @ And You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heard their cry by the Sea of Reeds.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:10 @ And You gave signs and wonders on Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of the land. For You knew that they were seething against them. And You made a name for Yourself, as it is this day.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:11 @ And You divided the Sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the Sea on the dry land. And their pursuers You threw into the deep, like a stone into the mighty waters.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:12 @ And You led them in the day by a cloudy pillar, and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way in which they should go.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:13 @ And You came down on Mount Sinai and spoke with them from the heavens, and gave them right judgments and true laws, good statutes and commandments.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:14 @ And You made Your holy sabbath known to them, and You commanded commandments, statutes, and laws, to them by the hand of Your servant Moses.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:15 @ And You gave them bread from the heavens for their hunger, and brought forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst. And You said to them that they should go in to possess the land which You had raised Your hand to give them.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:16 @ But they and our fathers seethed, and hardened their necks, and did not listen to Your commands.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:17 @ And they refused to obey, and were not mindful of Your wonders which You did among them. But they hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a leader to return them to their bondage. But You are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and did not forsake them.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:18 @ Yea, when they had made a casted calf for themselves, and said, This is your god who brought you up out of Egypt, and had worked great blasphemies,

gltv@Nehemiah:9:19 @ Yet You in Your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud did not depart from them by day to lead them in the way, nor the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way in which they should go.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:20 @ You also gave Your good Spirit to teach them, and did not withhold Your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:21 @ Yea, forty years You sustained them in the wilderness. They lacked nothing; their clothes did not wear out, and their feet did not swell.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:22 @ And You gave them kingdoms and peoples, and divided them to corners. And they possessed the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:23 @ You also multiplied their sons like the stars of the heavens and brought them into the land which You had promised to their fathers, that they should go in and possess it.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:24 @ And the sons went in and possessed the land, and You humbled the people of the land before them, the Canaanites. And You gave them into their hands, with their kings and the people of the land to do with them as they desired.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:25 @ And they took strong cities and a rich land, and occupied houses full of all goods, wells already dug, vineyards and oliveyards and fruit trees in abundance. And they ate, and were filled, and became fat, and lived luxuriously in Your great goodness.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:26 @ But they were disobedient, and rebelled against You, and cast Your law behind their backs. And they killed Your prophets who testified against them, to turn them to You. And they worked great blasphemies.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:27 @ And You gave them into the hand of their enemies, who distressed them. And in the time of their distress, they cried to You; and You heard from Heaven. And according to Your manifold mercies, You gave them deliverers, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:28 @ But after a rest to them, they turned to doing evil before You. And You left them in the hand of their haters, and they ruled over them. But they came back and cried to You, and You heard them from Heaven, and You delivered them according to Your mercies.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:29 @ And You testified against them to bring them again to Your Law, but they seethed, and did not listen to Your commands, but were against Your judgments; they sinned in them, which if a man do, he shall live in them. And they gave a rebellious shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:30 @ But many years You had patience with them, and testified against them by Your Spirit, by Your prophets. Yet they would not give ear. And You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:31 @ But for Your great mercies, You did not consume nor forsake them; for You are a gracious and merciful God.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:32 @ And now our God, the great, the mighty and the fearful God, keeping the covenant and the mercy, let it not seem little before You, all the trouble which has found us, to our kings, to our rulers, and to our priests, and to our prophets, and to our fathers, and to all Your people, since the time of the kings of Assyria to this day.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:33 @ And You are just as to all that came on us, for You have done right; but we have done evilly.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:34 @ And our kings, our rulers, our priests, and our fathers have not kept Your law, nor listened to Your commands and Your testimonies with which You testified against them.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:35 @ And they have not served You in their kingdom, and in Your great goodness which You gave to them, and in the large and rich land which You gave before them. And they did not turn from their evil works.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:36 @ Behold, we are slaves today, even the land that You gave to our fathers to eat its fruit and its good, behold, we are slaves in it.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:37 @ And it yields much increase to the kings whom You have set over us because of our sinning. And they rule over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure; and we are in great distress.

gltv@Nehemiah:9:38 @ And because of all this, we are cutting a sure covenant and writing it, and our rulers, Levites, and priests are sealing it.

gltv@Nehemiah:10:1 @ And the ones being sealed were the governor, the son of Hachaliah, and Zidkijah,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:2 @ Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:3 @ Pashur, Amariah, Malchijah,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:4 @ Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:5 @ Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:6 @ Daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:7 @ Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:8 @ Maaziah, Bilgai, Shemaiah. These were the priests.

gltv@Nehemiah:10:9 @ And the Levites were both Jeshua the son of Azaniah, Binnui, of the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:10 @ and their brothers, Shebaniah, Hodijah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanan,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:11 @ Micha, Rehob, Hashabiah,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:12 @ Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:23 @ Hoshea, Hananiah, Hashub,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:24 @ Hallohesh, Pileha, Shobek,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:25 @ Rehum, Hashabnah, Maaseiah,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:26 @ and Ahijah, Hanan, Anan,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:27 @ Malluch, Harim, Baanah.

gltv@Nehemiah:10:28 @ And the rest of the people the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple-slaves, and all those who separated from the people of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, all knowing and discerning ones,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:29 @ were holding fast to their brothers, their honored ones; and were entering into a curse and into an oath, to walk in God's law which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to keep and to do all the commandments of Jehovah our Lord, and His judgments and His statutes.

gltv@Nehemiah:10:30 @ And we swore that we would not give our daughters to the people of the land nor take their daughters for our sons.

gltv@Nehemiah:10:31 @ And if the people of the land should bring goods or any food to sell on the Sabbath, we would not take from them on the Sabbath, or on the holy day. And they would forego the seventh year, and the interest of every hand.

gltv@Nehemiah:10:32 @ Also, we put commands on ourselves, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God,

gltv@Nehemiah:10:33 @ for the Bread of Arrangement, and for the continual food offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make atonement for Israel, and all the work of the house of God.

gltv@Nehemiah:10:34 @ And we made fall the lots among the priests, and the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God, according to the houses of our fathers, at times appointed year by year, to burn on the altar of Jehovah our God, as it is written in the Law;

gltv@Nehemiah:10:35 @ also to bring the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruits of all fruit of all trees, year by year, to the house of Jehovah;

gltv@Nehemiah:10:36 @ also to bring the first-born of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the Law; and the firstlings of our herds and of our flocks to the house of our God, to the priests who minister in the house of our God.

gltv@Nehemiah:10:37 @ And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all kinds of trees, of wine, and of oil, to the priests, to the rooms of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground to the Levites; and they, the Levites, might have the tithes in all the cities we worked.

gltv@Nehemiah:10:38 @ And the priest, the son of Aaron, shall be with the Levites, tithing the Levites; and the Levites shall bring up the tithes of the tithes to the house of our God to the rooms, into the treasure house.

gltv@Nehemiah:10:39 @ For the sons of Israel, and the sons of Levi, shall bring the offering of the grain, of the new wine, and the oil, to the rooms, and there shall be the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests ministering, and the gatekeepers and the singers. And we will not forsake the house of our God.

gltv@Nehemiah:11:1 @ And the rulers of the people lived at Jerusalem. The rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of the tenth to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, and nine parts in other cities.

gltv@Nehemiah:11:2 @ And the people blessed all the men who willingly offered themselves to live in Jerusalem.

gltv@Nehemiah:11:3 @ And these are the rulers of the province who lived in Jerusalem; but in the cities of Judah, a man lived in his possession in their cities; Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the temple-slaves, and the sons of Solomon's servants.

gltv@Nehemiah:11:4 @ And in Jerusalem lived some of the sons of Judah, and of the sons of Benjamin. From the sons of Judah were Athaiah the son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalaleel, of the sons of Perez;

gltv@Nehemiah:11:24 @ And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the sons of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king's hand in all matters concerning the people.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:23 @ The sons of the Levites, the rulers of the fathers, are written in the Book of the Matters of the Days, even until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:24 @ And the rulers of the Levites were Hashabiah; Sherebiah; and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers next to them, to praise, to give thanks according to the command of David the man of God, watch by watch.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:25 @ Mattaniah, and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub were guards of the gates, the guard at the thresholds of the gates.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:26 @ These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of the governor, and of Ezra the priest, the scribe.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:27 @ And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, they sought the Levites out of all their places to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, and with thanksgiving, and with singing, with cymbals, harps, and with lyres.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:28 @ And the sons of the singers gathered themselves, both out of the plain country around Jerusalem, and from the villages of the inhabitants of Netophah;

gltv@Nehemiah:12:29 @ and from the house of Gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth (for the singers had built themselves villages all around Jerusalem).

gltv@Nehemiah:12:30 @ And the priests and the Levites purified themselves. And they purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:31 @ Then I brought up the rulers of Judah on the wall, and chose two great thanksgiving choirs. One went to the right on the wall toward the Dung Gate,

gltv@Nehemiah:12:32 @ and after them went Hoshaiah, and half the rulers of Judah;

gltv@Nehemiah:12:33 @ even Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,

gltv@Nehemiah:12:34 @ Judah, and Benjamin, and Shemaiah, and Jeremiah;

gltv@Nehemiah:12:35 @ and many of the priests' sons with trumpets, Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Michaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph,

gltv@Nehemiah:12:36 @ and his brothers, Shemaiah, and Azareel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethaneel, and Judah, Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God. And Ezra the scribe was before them.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:37 @ And at the Fountain Gate across from them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the going up of the wall above the house of David, even to the Water Gate eastward.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:38 @ And the other thanksgiving choir was going to the opposite side, and I after them, and half of the people on the wall, from beyond the Tower of Furnaces, even to the Broad Wall;

gltv@Nehemiah:12:39 @ and from above the Ephraim Gate, and above the Old Gate, and above the Fish Gate, and the Tower of Hananeel, and the Tower of Meah, even to the Sheep Gate. And they stood still in the Prison Gate.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:40 @ So the two thanksgiving choirs stood in the house of God, and I, and half of the rulers with me.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:41 @ And the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah and Hananiah were with trumpets.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:42 @ And Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer; and the singers sang aloud with Jezrahiah as their overseer.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:43 @ And that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced. For God had made them rejoice with great joy. And the wives, and the children rejoiced so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even at a distance.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:44 @ And at that time some were chosen over the rooms for the treasuries, for the offerings for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather to them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the Law for the priests and the Levites. For Judah rejoiced for the priests, and for the Levites who waited.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:45 @ And both the singers and the gatekeepers kept the watch of their God, and the watch of the cleansing, according to the command of David, of his son Solomon.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:46 @ For in the past days of David and Asaph, there were heads of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving to God.

gltv@Nehemiah:12:47 @ And all Israel gave the portions of the singers and the gatekeepers, everyday its portion, in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah. And they set the holy things apart for the Levites; and the Levites set apart for the sons of Aaron.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:1 @ On that day they read in the Book of Moses in the ears of the people. And it was found written in it that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God forever,

gltv@Nehemiah:13:2 @ because they did not meet the sons of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them. But our God turned the curse to a blessing.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:3 @ And it happened, when they had heard the Law, they separated all the mixed multitude from Israel.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:4 @ And before this, Eliashib the priest, who was set over the rooms of the house of our God, who was related to Tobiah,

gltv@Nehemiah:13:5 @ (and he had prepared for himself a large room where they had in days past laid the food offering, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the offerings of the priests).

gltv@Nehemiah:13:6 @ But in all this time I was not at Jerusalem. For in the thirty second year of Artaxerxes the king of Babylon, I came to the king. And after some days I asked leave from the king.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:7 @ And I came to Jerusalem, and understood the evil which Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing a room for him in the courts of the house of God.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:8 @ And it grieved me very much. And I threw all the household stuff of Tobiah out of the room.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:9 @ Then I commanded, and they purified the rooms. And I returned there the vessels of the house of God, with the food offering and the frankincense.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:10 @ And I was aware that the portions of the Levites had not been given, for the Levites and the singers who did the work had each one fled to his field.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:11 @ Then I contended with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them and set them in their place.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:12 @ Then all Judah brought the tithe of the grain, and the new wine, and the oil, into the treasuries.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:13 @ And I made treasurers over the treasuries: Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah. And next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah. For they were counted faithful, and on them was the duty to distribute to their brothers.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:14 @ Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and do not wipe out my good deeds which I have done for the house of my God, and in its keeping.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:15 @ In those days I saw in Judah ones treading wine presses on the Sabbath, and bringing in sheaves and loading asses; and also wine, grapes, and figs, and all burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. And I testified against them on the day they sold food.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:16 @ Men of Tyre also lived in it, who brought fish and all wares, and were selling on the Sabbath to the sons of Judah even in Jerusalem.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:17 @ And I contended with the nobles of Judah and said to them, What is this evil thing that you do, defiling the Sabbath day?

gltv@Nehemiah:13:18 @ Did not your fathers do this, and did not our God bring all this evil on us and on this city? Yet you bring more wrath on Israel by defiling the Sabbath.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:19 @ And it happened, when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. And I stationed some of my servants at the gates, so that there should be no burden brought in on the Sabbath day.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:20 @ And the merchants and sellers of all the wares stayed the night outside Jerusalem once or twice.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:21 @ Then I testified against them and said to them, Why are you staying around the wall? If you do it again, I will send a hand against you. From that time they did not come on the Sabbath.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:22 @ And I commanded the Levites that they should be cleansing themselves, and they should come guarding the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. O my God, remember me for this also and spare me according to the greatness of Your mercy.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:23 @ In those days I also saw Jews who had dwelt with women from Ashdod, Ammon and Moab.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:24 @ And their children spoke half in the speech of Ashdod, and to them there was no respecting to speak Jewish, but according to the language of each people.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:25 @ And I contended with them, and put a curse on them, and struck some of them, and I plucked their hair. And I made them swear by the name of God, saying, You shall not give your daughter to their sons, nor take their daughters to your sons, or for yourselves.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:26 @ Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations there was no king like him, who was beloved by his God; and God made him king over Israel. But women from other lands caused even him to sin.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:27 @ Shall we then listen to you, to do this great evil, to sin against our God in living with foreign women?

gltv@Nehemiah:13:28 @ And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite. And I chased him from me.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:29 @ Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood and of the Levites.

gltv@Nehemiah:13:30 @ And I cleansed them from all aliens, and appointed watches to the priests and the Levites, each one in his business,

gltv@Nehemiah:13:31 @ and for the wood offering, at appointed times, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, for good!
