Proverbs:25-29




updv@Proverbs:25:1 @ These also are proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.

updv@Proverbs:25:2 @ It is the glory of God to conceal a thing; But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.

updv@Proverbs:25:3 @ As the heavens for height, and the earth for depth, So the heart of kings is unsearchable.

updv@Proverbs:25:4 @ Take away the dross from the silver, And there comes forth a vessel for the refiner:

updv@Proverbs:25:5 @ Take away the wicked [from] before the king, And his throne will be established in righteousness.

updv@Proverbs:25:6 @ Don't put yourself forward in the presence of the king, And don't stand in the place of great men:

updv@Proverbs:25:7 @ For it is better that it is said to you, Come up here, Than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince, Whom your eyes have seen.

updv@Proverbs:25:8 @ Don't hastily bring [it] to court, Or else what will you do in its end, When your fellow man has put you to shame.

updv@Proverbs:25:9 @ Debate your cause with your fellow man [himself], And don't disclose the secret of another;

updv@Proverbs:25:10 @ Or else he who hears it will revile you, And your infamy will not turn away.

updv@Proverbs:25:11 @ A word fitly spoken Is [like] apples of gold in network of silver.

updv@Proverbs:25:12 @ [As] an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, [So is] a wise reprover on an obedient ear.

updv@Proverbs:25:13 @ As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, [So is] a faithful messenger to those who send him; For he refreshes the soul of his masters.

updv@Proverbs:25:14 @ [As] clouds and wind without rain, [So is] he who boasts himself of his gifts falsely.

updv@Proverbs:25:15 @ By long forbearing is a ruler persuaded, And a soft tongue breaks the bone.

updv@Proverbs:25:16 @ Have you found honey? Eat so much as is sufficient for you, Or else you will be filled with it, and vomit it.

updv@Proverbs:25:17 @ Let your foot be seldom in your fellow man's house, Or else he will be weary of you, and hate you.

updv@Proverbs:25:18 @ A man who bears false witness against his fellow man Is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

updv@Proverbs:25:19 @ Confidence in a betrayer in time of trouble Is [like] a crumbling tooth, and an unsteady foot.

updv@Proverbs:25:20 @ [As] vinegar on lye, and [as] smoke for the eyes, So is he who sings songs to a heavy heart.

updv@Proverbs:25:21 @ If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink:

updv@Proverbs:25:22 @ For you will heap coals of fire on his head, And Yahweh will reward you.

updv@Proverbs:25:23 @ The north wind brings forth rain: So does a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.

updv@Proverbs:25:24 @ It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, Than with a contentious woman in a wide house.

updv@Proverbs:25:25 @ [As] cold waters to a thirsty soul, So is good news from a far country.

updv@Proverbs:25:26 @ [As] a troubled fountain, and a corrupted spring, [So is] a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.

updv@Proverbs:25:27 @ It is not good to eat much honey: And searching out their glory is glory.

updv@Proverbs:25:28 @ He whose spirit is without restraint Is [like] a city that is broken down and without walls.

updv@Proverbs:26:1 @ As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, So honor is not seemly for a fool.

updv@Proverbs:26:2 @ As the sparrow in her wandering, as the swallow in her flying, So the curse that is causeless does not come.

updv@Proverbs:26:3 @ A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, And a rod for the back of fools.

updv@Proverbs:26:4 @ Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Or else you will also be like him.

updv@Proverbs:26:5 @ Answer a fool according to his folly, Or else he will be wise in his own eyes.

updv@Proverbs:26:6 @ He who sends a message by the hand of a fool Cuts off [his own] feet, [and] drinks crime.

updv@Proverbs:26:7 @ [As] the legs hang loose from a cripple: So is a parable in the mouth of fools.

updv@Proverbs:26:8 @ As one who binds a stone in a sling, So is he who gives honor to a fool.

updv@Proverbs:26:9 @ [As] a thorn that goes up into the hand of a drunkard, So is a parable in the mouth of fools.

updv@Proverbs:26:10 @ [As] an archer that wounds all, So is he who hires a fool and he who hires those who pass by.

updv@Proverbs:26:11 @ As a dog that returns to his vomit, [So is] a fool that repeats his folly.

updv@Proverbs:26:12 @ Do you see a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope of a fool than of him.

updv@Proverbs:26:13 @ The sluggard says, There is a lion in the way; A lion is in the streets.

updv@Proverbs:26:14 @ [As] the door turns on its hinges, So does the sluggard on his bed.

updv@Proverbs:26:15 @ The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; It wearies him to bring it again to his mouth.

updv@Proverbs:26:16 @ The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit Than seven men who can render a reason.

updv@Proverbs:26:17 @ He who passes by, [and] vexes himself with strife not belonging to him, Is [like] one who takes a dog by the ears.

updv@Proverbs:26:18 @ As a lunatic who casts firebrands, Arrows, and death,

updv@Proverbs:26:19 @ So is the man who deceives his fellow man, And says, Am I not joking?

updv@Proverbs:26:20 @ For lack of wood the fire goes out; And where there is no whisperer, contention ceases.

updv@Proverbs:26:21 @ [As] coals are to hot embers, and wood to fire, So is a contentious man to inflame strife.

updv@Proverbs:26:22 @ The words of a whisperer are as dainty morsels, And they go down into the innermost parts.

updv@Proverbs:26:23 @ Fervent lips and a wicked heart Are [like] an earthen vessel overlaid with silver dross.

updv@Proverbs:26:24 @ He who hates dissembles with his lips; But he lays up deceit inside him:

updv@Proverbs:26:25 @ When he speaks fair, don't believe him; For there are seven disgusting things in his heart:

updv@Proverbs:26:26 @ Though [his] hatred covers itself with guile, His wickedness will be openly shown before the assembly.

updv@Proverbs:26:27 @ Whoever digs a pit will fall in it; And he who rolls a stone, it will return on him.

updv@Proverbs:26:28 @ A lying tongue hates those whom it has wounded; And a flattering mouth works ruin.

updv@Proverbs:27:1 @ Don't boast yourself of tomorrow; For you don't know what a day may bring forth.

updv@Proverbs:27:2 @ Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; A stranger, and not your own lips.

updv@Proverbs:27:3 @ A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; But a fool's vexation is heavier than both of them.

updv@Proverbs:27:4 @ Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; But who is able to stand before jealousy?

updv@Proverbs:27:5 @ Better is open rebuke Than love that is hidden.

updv@Proverbs:27:6 @ Faithful are the wounds of a friend; But the kisses of an enemy are profuse.

updv@Proverbs:27:7 @ The full soul loathes a honeycomb; But to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

updv@Proverbs:27:8 @ As a bird that wanders from her nest, So is a man who wanders from his place.

updv@Proverbs:27:9 @ Oil and perfume rejoice the heart; So does the sweetness of a man's companion [that comes] of hearty counsel.

updv@Proverbs:27:10 @ Your own companion, and your father's companion, do not forsake; And don't go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity: Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother far off.

updv@Proverbs:27:11 @ My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, That I may answer him who reproaches me.

updv@Proverbs:27:12 @ A prudent man sees the evil, [and] hides himself; [But] the simple pass on, [and] suffer for it.

updv@Proverbs:27:13 @ Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; And hold him in pledge [who is surety] for a foreign woman.

updv@Proverbs:27:14 @ He who blesses his fellow man with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, It will be counted a curse to him.

updv@Proverbs:27:15 @ A continual dropping in a very rainy day And a contentious woman are alike:

updv@Proverbs:27:16 @ He who would restrain her restrains the wind; And his right hand encounters oil.

updv@Proverbs:27:17 @ Iron sharpens iron; So a man sharpens the countenance of his fellow man.

updv@Proverbs:27:18 @ Whoever keeps the fig-tree will eat its fruit; And he who regards his master will be honored.

updv@Proverbs:27:19 @ As in water face [answers] to face, So the heart of man to man.

updv@Proverbs:27:20 @ Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied; And the eyes of man are never satisfied.

updv@Proverbs:27:21 @ The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold; And a man is [tried] by his praise.

updv@Proverbs:27:22 @ Though you should bray a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with bruised grain, Yet his foolishness will not depart from him.

updv@Proverbs:27:23 @ Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, [And] look well to your herds:

updv@Proverbs:27:24 @ For riches are not forever: And does the crown endure to all generations?

updv@Proverbs:27:25 @ The hay is carried, and the tender grass shows itself, And the herbs of the mountains are gathered in.

updv@Proverbs:27:26 @ The lambs are for your clothing, And the goats are the price of the field;

updv@Proverbs:27:27 @ And [there will be] goats' milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, And maintenance for your maidens.

updv@Proverbs:28:1 @ The wicked flee when no man pursues; But the righteous are bold as a lion.

updv@Proverbs:28:2 @ For the transgression of a land many are its princes; But by [a] man of understanding [and] knowledge the state [of it] will be prolonged.

updv@Proverbs:28:3 @ A needy [noble] man who oppresses the poor Is [like] a sweeping rain which leaves no food.

updv@Proverbs:28:4 @ Those who forsake the law praise the wicked; But such as keep the law contend with them.

updv@Proverbs:28:5 @ Evil men don't understand justice; But those who seek Yahweh understand all things.

updv@Proverbs:28:6 @ Better is the poor that walks in his integrity, Than he who is perverse in [his] ways, though he is rich.

updv@Proverbs:28:7 @ Whoever keeps the law is a wise son; But he who is a shepherd of gluttons shames his father.

updv@Proverbs:28:8 @ He who augments his substance by interest and increase, Gathers it for him who has pity on the poor.

updv@Proverbs:28:9 @ He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is disgusting.

updv@Proverbs:28:10 @ Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, He will fall into his own pit; But the perfect will inherit good.

updv@Proverbs:28:11 @ The rich man is wise in his own eyes; But the poor that has understanding searches him out.

updv@Proverbs:28:12 @ When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; But when the wicked rise, man will hide.

updv@Proverbs:28:13 @ He who covers his transgressions will not prosper: But whoever confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

updv@Proverbs:28:14 @ Happy is [the] man who fears always; But he who hardens his heart will fall into mischief.

updv@Proverbs:28:15 @ [As] a roaring lion, and a ranging bear, [So is] a wicked ruler over a poor people.

updv@Proverbs:28:16 @ The leader that lacks understanding is also a great oppressor; [But] he who hates covetousness will prolong his days.

updv@Proverbs:28:17 @ [A] man who is laden with the blood of any person Will flee to the pit; let no man uphold him.

updv@Proverbs:28:18 @ Whoever walks uprightly will be delivered; But he who is perverse in [his] ways will fall at once.

updv@Proverbs:28:19 @ He who tills his land will have plenty of bread; But he who follows after vanities will have poverty enough.

updv@Proverbs:28:20 @ A faithful man will abound with blessings; But he who hurries to be rich will not be unpunished.

updv@Proverbs:28:21 @ To have respect of persons is not good; Neither that a [noble] man should transgress for a piece of bread.

updv@Proverbs:28:22 @ He who has an evil eye hurries after riches, And does not know that want will come upon him.

updv@Proverbs:28:23 @ He who rebukes man will afterward find more favor Than he who flatters with the tongue.

updv@Proverbs:28:24 @ Whoever robs his father or his mother, and says, It is no transgression, The same is the partner of a destroyer.

updv@Proverbs:28:25 @ He who is of a greedy spirit stirs up strife; But he who puts his trust in Yahweh will be made fat.

updv@Proverbs:28:26 @ He who trusts in his own heart is a fool; But whoever walks wisely, he will be delivered.

updv@Proverbs:28:27 @ He who gives to the poor will not lack; But he who hides his eyes will have many a curse.

updv@Proverbs:28:28 @ When the wicked rise, man hides himself; But when they perish, the righteous increase.

updv@Proverbs:29:1 @ He who being often reproved hardens his neck Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

updv@Proverbs:29:2 @ When the righteous have increased, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man bears rule, the people sigh.

updv@Proverbs:29:3 @ Whoever loves wisdom rejoices his father; But he who is a shepherd of prostitutes wastes [his] substance.

updv@Proverbs:29:4 @ The king by justice establishes the land; But he who exacts gifts overthrows it.

updv@Proverbs:29:5 @ A [noble] man who flatters his fellow man Spreads a net for his steps.

updv@Proverbs:29:6 @ In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; But the righteous sings and rejoices.

updv@Proverbs:29:7 @ The righteous takes knowledge of the cause of the poor; The wicked does not have understanding to know [it].

updv@Proverbs:29:8 @ Scoffers set a city in a flame; But wise men turn away wrath.

updv@Proverbs:29:9 @ If a wise man has a controversy with a foolish man, Whether he is angry or laughs, there will be no rest.

updv@Proverbs:29:10 @ The bloodthirsty hate him who is perfect; And as for the upright, they seek his life.

updv@Proverbs:29:11 @ A fool utters all his anger; But a wise man keeps it back and stills it.

updv@Proverbs:29:12 @ If a ruler harkens to falsehood, All his ministers are wicked.

updv@Proverbs:29:13 @ The poor man and the oppressor meet together; Yahweh lightens the eyes of them both.

updv@Proverbs:29:14 @ The king who faithfully judges the poor, His throne will be established forever.

updv@Proverbs:29:15 @ The rod and reproof give wisdom; But a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.

updv@Proverbs:29:16 @ When the wicked are increased, transgression increases; But the righteous will look at their fall.

updv@Proverbs:29:17 @ Correct your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul.

updv@Proverbs:29:18 @ Where there is no vision, the people go wild; But he who keeps the law, he is happy.

updv@Proverbs:29:19 @ A slave will not be corrected by words; For though he understands, he will not give heed.

updv@Proverbs:29:20 @ Do you see a man who is in a hurry in his words? There is more hope of a fool than of him.

updv@Proverbs:29:21 @ He who delicately brings up his slave from a child Will have him become a son at the last.

updv@Proverbs:29:22 @ An angry man stirs up strife, And a wrathful man abounds in transgression.

updv@Proverbs:29:23 @ The pride of man will bring him low; But he who is of a lowly spirit will obtain honor.

updv@Proverbs:29:24 @ Whoever shares with a thief hates his own soul; He hears the adjuration and utters nothing.

updv@Proverbs:29:25 @ The fear of man brings a snare; But whoever puts his trust in Yahweh will be safe.

updv@Proverbs:29:26 @ Many seek the ruler's favor; But a man's judgment [comes] from Yahweh.

updv@Proverbs:29:27 @ An unjust man is disgusting to the righteous; And he who is upright in the way is disgusting to the wicked.
