* «To the chief Musician , A Psalm of David The king shall (note :)When he will overcome his enemies , and so be assured of his calling .(:note ) joy in thy strength , O LORD ; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice ! * Thou hast giuen him his hearts desire , and hast not denyed him the request of his lips . Selah . * For thou (note :)You declared your liberal favour toward him before he prayed .(:note ) preventest him with the blessings of goodness : thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head . * * His glory is great in thy saluation : dignitie and honour hast thou laid vpon him . * For thou hast made him most (note :)You have made him your blessings to others , and a perpetual example of your favour forever .(:note ) blessed for ever : thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance . * Because the King trusteth in the Lord , and in the mercie of the most High , he shall not slide . * * Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger : the LORD shall swallow them up in his (note :)This teaches us patiently to endure the cross till God destroys the adversary .(:note ) wrath , and the fire shall devour them . * Their fruite shalt thou destroy from the earth , and their seede from the children of men . * For they (note :)They laid as it were their nets to make God 's power bend to their wicked enterprises .(:note ) intended evil against thee : they imagined a mischievous device , [which ] they are not able [to perform ]. * Therefore shalt thou make them (note :)As a mark to shoot at .(:note ) turn their back , [when ] thou shalt make ready [thine arrows ] upon thy strings against the face of them . *
