NEW CONTRIBUTOR README

HOW TO GET SET UP AND STARTED AS A NEW CONTRIBUTOR TO A PBIBLX3 SYSTEM

Author: Randy Pritts - PBIBLX3 DEVELOPER

Getting Started:

When you get invited to become a contributor to this PBIBLX christian content system a directory will be installed by the site administrator with a bare-bones set of files already providing a whole lot of versatility.

  1. You will have and ABOUT.md page which will be your home pad page visitors will first land on. In the "FILE MENU:" you will find the option to edit this page to your liking, this template is only a starting point to get you started. The edit dialog will help you with the additional Markdown display syntax and PCARR extended functionality that you might want to add.

Note that on this ABOUT template there is a qadds system call to print out a listing of your published works. Publishing simply means that you have worked one of your articles out enough to publish it as a static web page and syndicate it to our local RSS feed syndication facility. Followers of your work will be able to keep up to date with your published works via their computer/phone's feed aggregator. Static pages are also faster to load and more readily avaiable for higher traffic viewership.

  2. You will have a DISCUSSIONS.md page that auto-generates all of your directories comment tags in a nice clean concise listing. You will add these comment tags anywhere in your articles that you want reader feedback of open forum discussions.

  3. You will have your own navigation menu already functioning to these templated pages. You navigation menu is editable in the ".MYMENU" file in you directory. There is also a ".MYHEADER" file to change your contributor name info on the menu header.

  4. Next, you have a ARCHIVE.md file that makes a QDIR system call auto-magically creating a listing of all editable files in your directory. Some of these might be ideas for articles, study notes, sermon outlines etc... Other files will be the editable originals of your published material. If you make any changes to these previously published pages, you will be given the option of refreshing the static published page.

  5. Finally, you also have a MEDIA.md file where you will post your MP3 podcasts/sermons/apologetic debates etc.. and or Youtube/Vimeo video links etc... and or your EPUB/PDF/HTML books etc... There is a system call to search out our MEDIA index in your name to print the pages' listing.

All of this is all ready functioning and serviceable from the menu for you to get started with. All you have to do is modify the template pages with your personal information to get up and running.

Settling In:

Once you modify the template to you liking, you can start adding in additional content. In the "FILE MENU:" there is an option to "create new from template". Having followed along with the new contributors bare-bone templates, you can kind of see how the Markup sysntax works. Many websites and Wiki's use a very similar syntax, you may already be accustomed to writing in it. If you already have pre written material that you've authored, there are several conversion utilities available for a variety of operating systems that will convert EPUB/KINDLE/PDF/DOC/HTML etc... There might be a little manual clean up to get things right, but a simple copy and paste to the edit page will get you started.

PBIBLX3 adds some additional system syntax to directly quote bible verses, dictionaries, indexes, pictures, media files, directories etc... that will require a little extra learning, but they sure save a lot of time not having to copy and paste or provided them in the readers preferred translation.

One of these syntax features is the LOCKME@PIN (You fill in the PIN) at the top of the page. This will give your work an extra layer of security. Without your PIN another registered user cannot modify your content. With your PIN multiple registered users can collaborate. Each page has a separately assignable PIN if needed for multiple types of projects.

Another thing that you'll want to do is replace that cartoon profile picture with something more personal, a PNG or JPEG or GIF file like a profile head shot or avatar for example. The site administrator can help you with this task once the file is uploaded.

Letting others know.

Here is where it gets exciting. You can share the link to your about page. Your link will also be listed in the Contributors section of this site's HomePage and MYPAD-CONTRIBUTOR index. You'd probably rather share the link to your published static page on our website, then they only have access to polished and finalize good stuff, not your unpublished projects and study notes. There is also the RSS syndicated feed that they can copy the feed location into their aggregator (email program typically). There are also things that you can do in your page subtitles and page tags that will help your search engine viability.

Further Resources

This README barely scratches the surface of what can be done as a PBIBLX3 Contributor. There are some very helpful links and resources found on our PbiblxHome page to take you the rest of the way there!

May Christ bless your efforts and contributions!
