* For it is written (5769 ), I will destroy (5692 ) the wisdom of the wise , and will bring to nothing (5692 ) the understanding of the prudent . * Where is the wise ? where is the scribe ? where is the disputer of this world ? hath not God made foolish (5656 ) the wisdom of this world ? * For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew (5627 ) not God , it pleased (5656 ) God by the foolishness of preaching to save (5658 ) them that believe (5723 ). * For the Jews require (5719 ) a sign , and the Greeks seek (5719 ) after wisdom : * But we preach (5719 ) Christ crucified (5772 ), unto the Jews a stumblingblock , and unto the Greeks foolishness ; * But unto them which are called , both Jews and Greeks , Christ the power of God , and the wisdom of God .
