* Now as touching things offered unto idols , we know (5758 ) that we all have (5719 ) knowledge . Knowledge puffeth up (5719 ), but charity edifieth (5719 ). * And if any man think (5719 ) that he knoweth (5760 ) any thing , he knoweth (5758 ) nothing yet as he ought (5748 ) to know (5629 ). * But if any man love (5719 ) God , the same is known (5769 ) of him . * As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols , we know (5758 ) that an idol is nothing in the world , and that there is none other God but one . * For though there be (5748 ) that are called (5746 ) gods , whether in heaven or in earth , (as there be (5748 ) gods many , and lords many ,) * But to us there is but one God , the Father , of whom are all things , and we in him ; and one Lord Jesus Christ , by whom are all things , and we by him . * Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge : for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat (5719 ) it as a thing offered unto an idol ; and their conscience being (5752 ) weak is defiled (5743 ). * But meat commendeth (5719 ) us not to God : for neither , if we eat (5632 ), are we the better (5719 ); neither , if we eat (5632 ) not , are we the worse (5743 ). * But take heed (5720 ) lest by any means this liberty of yours become (5638 ) a stumblingblock to them that are weak (5723 ). * For if any man see (5632 ) thee which hast (5723 ) knowledge sit at meat (5740 ) in the idols temple , shall not the conscience of him which is (5752 ) weak be emboldened (5701 ) to eat (5721 ) those things which are offered to idols ; * And through thy knowledge shall the weak (5723 ) brother perish (5689 ), for whom Christ died (5627 )? * But when ye sin (5723 ) so against the brethren , and wound (5723 ) their weak (5723 ) conscience , ye sin (5719 ) against Christ . * Wherefore , if meat make my brother to offend (5719 ), I will eat (5632 ) no flesh while the world standeth , lest I make my brother to offend (5661 ).
