* Am (5748 ) I not an apostle ? am (5748 ) I not free ? have I not seen (5758 ) Jesus Christ our Lord ? are (5748 ) not ye my work in the Lord ? * If I be (5748 ) not an apostle unto others , yet doubtless I am (5748 ) to you : for the seal of mine apostleship are (5748 ) ye in the Lord . * Mine answer to them that do examine (5723 ) me is (5748 ) this , * Have we (5719 ) not power to eat (5629 ) and to drink (5629 )? * Have we (5719 ) not power to lead about (5721 ) a sister , a wife , as well as other apostles , and as the brethren of the Lord , and Cephas ? * Or I only and Barnabas , have not we (5719 ) power to forbear working (5738 )? * Who goeth a warfare (5731 ) any time at his own charges ? who planteth (5719 ) a vineyard , and eateth (5719 ) not of the fruit thereof ? or who feedeth (5719 ) a flock , and eateth (5719 ) not of the milk of the flock ? * Say I (5719 ) these things as a man ? or saith (5719 ) not the law the same also ? * For it is written (5769 ) in the law of Moses , Thou shalt not muzzle (5692 ) the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn (5723 ). Doth God take care (5719 ) for oxen ? * Or saith he (5719 ) it altogether for our sakes ? For our sakes , no doubt , this is written (5648 ): that he that ploweth (5723 ) should (5719 ) plow (5721 ) in hope ; and that he that thresheth (5723 ) in hope should be partaker (5721 ) of his hope . * If we have sown (5656 ) unto you spiritual things , is it a great thing if we shall reap (5692 ) your carnal things ? * If others be partakers (5719 ) of this power over you , are not we rather ? Nevertheless we have not used (5662 ) this power ; but suffer (5719 ) all things , lest we should (5632 ) hinder the gospel of Christ . * Do ye not know (5758 ) that they which minister (5740 ) about holy things live (5719 ) of the things of the temple ? and they which wait (5723 ) at the altar are partakers (5736 ) with the altar ? * Even so hath the Lord ordained (5656 ) that they which preach (5723 ) the gospel should live (5721 ) of the gospel . * But I have used (5662 ) none of these things : neither have I written (5656 ) these things , that it should be so done (5638 ) unto me : for it were better for me to die (5629 ), than that any man should make my glorying void (5661 ). * For though I preach the gospel (5735 ), I have (5748 ) nothing to glory of : for necessity is laid upon (5736 ) me ; yea , woe is (5748 ) unto me , if I preach not the gospel (5735 )! * For if I do (5719 ) this thing willingly , I have (5719 ) a reward : but if against my will , a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me (5769 ). * What is (5748 ) my reward then ? Verily that , when I preach the gospel (5734 ), I may make (5661 ) the gospel of Christ without charge , that I abuse (5664 ) not my power in the gospel . * For though I be (5752 ) free from all men , yet have I made myself servant (5656 ) unto all , that I might gain (5661 ) the more . * And unto the Jews I became (5633 ) as a Jew , that I might gain (5661 ) the Jews ; to them that are under the law , as under the law , that I might gain (5661 ) them that are under the law ; * To them that are without law , as without law , (being (5752 ) not without law to God , but under the law to Christ ,) that I might gain (5661 ) them that are without law . * To the weak became I (5633 ) as weak , that I might gain (5661 ) the weak : I am made (5754 ) all things to all men , that I might by all means save (5661 ) some . * And this I do (5719 ) for the gospels sake , that I might be (5638 ) partaker thereof with you . * Know ye (5758 ) not that they which run (5723 ) in a race run (5719 ) all , but one receiveth (5719 ) the prize ? So run (5720 ), that ye may obtain (5632 ). * And every man that striveth for the mastery (5740 ) is temperate (5736 ) in all things . Now they do it to obtain (5632 ) a corruptible crown ; but we an incorruptible . * I therefore so run (5719 ), not as uncertainly ; so fight I (5719 ), not as one that beateth (5723 ) the air : * But I keep under (5719 ) my body , and bring it into subjection (5719 ): lest that by any means , when I have preached (5660 ) to others , I myself should be (5638 ) a castaway .
