* Behold (5628 ), what manner of love the Father hath bestowed (5758 ) upon us , that we should be called (5686 ) the sons of God : therefore the world knoweth (5719 ) us not , because it knew (5627 ) him not . * Beloved , now are we (5748 ) the sons of God , and it doth not yet appear (5681 ) what we shall be (5704 ): but we know (5758 ) that , when he shall appear (5686 ), we shall be (5704 ) like him ; for we shall see (5695 ) him as he is (5748 ). * And every man that hath (5723 ) this hope in him purifieth (5719 ) himself , even as he is (5748 ) pure . * Whosoever committeth (5723 ) sin transgresseth (5719 ) also the law : for sin is (5748 ) the transgression of the law . * And ye know (5758 ) that he was manifested (5681 ) to take away (5661 ) our sins ; and in him is (5748 ) no sin . * Whosoever abideth (5723 ) in him sinneth (5719 ) not : whosoever sinneth (5723 ) hath not seen (5758 ) him , neither known (5758 ) him . * Little children , let no man deceive (5720 ) you : he that doeth (5723 ) righteousness is (5748 ) righteous , even as he is (5748 ) righteous . * He that committeth (5723 ) sin is (5748 ) of the devil ; for the devil sinneth (5719 ) from the beginning . He that loveth (5723 ) not his brother abideth (5719 ) in death . * Whosoever hateth (5723 ) his brother is (5748 ) a murderer : and ye know (5758 ) that no murderer hath (5719 ) eternal life abiding (5723 ) in him . * Hereby perceive we (5758 ) the love of God , because he laid down (5656 ) his life for us : and we ought (5719 ) to lay down (5721 ) our lives for the brethren . * But whoso hath (5725 ) this worlds good , and seeth (5725 ) his brother have (5723 ) need , and shutteth up (5661 ) his bowels of compassion from him , how dwelleth (5719 ) the love of God in him ? * My little children , let us not love (5725 ) in word , neither in tongue ; but in deed and in truth . * And hereby we know (5719 ) that we are (5748 ) of the truth , and shall assure (5692 ) our hearts before him . * For if our heart condemn us (5725 ), God is (5748 ) greater than our heart , and knoweth (5719 ) all things . * Beloved , if our heart condemn (5725 ) us not , then have we (5719 ) confidence toward God . * And whatsoever we ask (5725 ), we receive (5719 ) of him , because we keep (5719 ) his commandments , and do (5719 ) those things that are pleasing in his sight . * And this is (5748 ) his commandment , That we should believe (5661 ) on the name of his Son Jesus Christ , and love (5725 ) one another , as he gave (5656 ) us commandment . * And he that keepeth (5723 ) his commandments dwelleth (5719 ) in him , and he in him . And hereby we know (5719 ) that he abideth (5719 ) in us , by the Spirit which he hath given (5656 ) us .
