* Which in time past were not a people , but are now the people of God : which had not obtained mercy (5772 ), but now have obtained mercy (5685 ). * Dearly beloved , I beseech (5719 ) you as strangers and pilgrims , abstain from (5733 ) fleshly lusts , which war (5731 ) against the soul ; * Having (5723 ) your conversation honest among the Gentiles : that , whereas they speak against (5719 ) you as evildoers , they may by your good works , which they shall behold (5660 ), glorify (5661 ) God in the day of visitation .
