* Wherefore when we could no longer forbear (5723 ), we thought it good (5656 ) to be left (5683 ) at Athens alone ; * And sent (5656 ) Timotheus , our brother , and minister of God , and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ , to establish (5658 ) you , and to comfort (5658 ) you concerning your faith : * That no man should be moved (5745 ) by these afflictions : for yourselves know (5758 ) that we are appointed (5736 ) thereunto . * For verily , when we were (5713 ) with you , we told you before (5707 ) that we should (5719 ) suffer tribulation (5745 ); even as it came to pass (5633 ), and ye know (5758 ). * For this cause , when I could no longer forbear (5723 ), I sent (5656 ) to know (5629 ) your faith , lest by some means the tempter (5723 ) have tempted (5707 ) you , and our labour be (5638 ) in vain . * But now when Timotheus came (5631 ) from you unto us , and brought us good tidings (5671 ) of your faith and charity , and that ye have (5719 ) good remembrance of us always , desiring greatly (5723 ) to see (5629 ) us , as we also to see you : * Therefore , brethren , we were comforted (5681 ) over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith : * For now we live (5719 ), if ye stand fast (5725 ) in the Lord . * For what thanks can we (5736 ) render to God again (5629 ) for you , for all the joy wherewith we joy (5719 ) for your sakes before our God ; * Night and day praying (5740 ) exceedingly that we might see (5629 ) your face , and might perfect (5658 ) that which is lacking in your faith ? * Now God himself and our Father , and our Lord Jesus Christ , direct (5659 ) our way unto you . * And the Lord make you to increase (5659 ) and abound (5659 ) in love one toward another , and toward all men , even as we do toward you : * To the end he may stablish (5658 ) your hearts unblameable in holiness before God , even our Father , at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints .
