* Furthermore then we beseech (5719 ) you , brethren , and exhort (5719 ) you by the Lord Jesus , that as ye have received (5627 ) of us how ye ought (5748 ) to walk (5721 ) and to please (5721 ) God , so ye would abound (5725 ) more and more . * For ye know (5758 ) what commandments we gave (5656 ) you by the Lord Jesus . * For this is (5748 ) the will of God , even your sanctification , that ye should abstain (5733 ) from fornication : * That every one of you should know (5760 ) how to possess (5738 ) his vessel in sanctification and honour ; * Not in the lust of concupiscence , even as the Gentiles which know (5761 ) not God : * That no man go beyond (5721 ) and defraud (5721 ) his brother in any matter : because that the Lord is the avenger of all such , as we also have forewarned (5656 ) you and testified (5662 ). * For God hath not called (5656 ) us unto uncleanness , but unto holiness . * He therefore that despiseth (5723 ), despiseth (5719 ) not man , but God , who hath also given (5631 ) unto us his holy Spirit . * But as touching brotherly love ye need (5719 ) not that I write (5721 ) unto you : for ye yourselves are (5748 ) taught of God to love (5721 ) one another . * And indeed ye do (5719 ) it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia : but we beseech (5719 ) you , brethren , that ye increase (5721 ) more and more ; * And that ye study (5738 ) to be quiet (5721 ), and to do (5721 ) your own business , and to work with (5738 ) your own hands , as we commanded (5656 ) you ; * That ye may walk (5725 ) honestly toward them that are without , and that ye may have (5725 ) lack of nothing . * But I would not have (5719 ) you to be ignorant (5721 ), brethren , concerning them which are asleep (5772 ), that ye sorrow (5747 ) not , even as others which have (5723 ) no hope . * For if we believe (5719 ) that Jesus died (5627 ) and rose again (5627 ), even so them also which sleep (5685 ) in Jesus will God bring (5692 ) with him . * For this we say (5719 ) unto you by the word of the Lord , that we which are alive (5723 ) and remain (5742 ) unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (5661 ) them which are asleep (5685 ). * For the Lord himself shall descend (5695 ) from heaven with a shout , with the voice of the archangel , and with the trump of God : and the dead in Christ shall rise (5698 ) first : * Then we which are alive (5723 ) and remain (5742 ) shall be caught up (5691 ) together with them in the clouds , to meet the Lord in the air : and so shall we ever be (5704 ) with the Lord . * Wherefore comfort (5720 ) one another with these words .
