* Paul , an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God , and Timothy our brother , unto the church of God which is (5752 ) at Corinth , with all the saints which are (5752 ) in all Achaia : * Grace be to you and peace from God our Father , and from the Lord Jesus Christ . * Blessed be God , even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ , the Father of mercies , and the God of all comfort ; * Who comforteth (5723 ) us in all our tribulation , that we may be able (5738 ) to comfort (5721 ) them which are in any trouble , by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted (5743 ) of God . * For as the sufferings of Christ abound (5719 ) in us , so our consolation also aboundeth (5719 ) by Christ . * And whether we be afflicted (5743 ), it is for your consolation and salvation , which is effectual (5734 ) in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer (5719 ): or whether we be comforted (5743 ), it is for your consolation and salvation . * And our hope of you is stedfast , knowing (5761 ), that as ye are (5748 ) partakers of the sufferings , so shall ye be also of the consolation . * For we would (5719 ) not , brethren , have you ignorant (5721 ) of our trouble which came (5637 ) to us in Asia , that we were pressed out (5681 ) of measure , above strength , insomuch that we despaired (5683 ) even of life (5721 ): * But we had (5758 ) the sentence of death in ourselves , that we should not trust (5756 ) in ourselves (5753 ), but in God which raiseth (5723 ) the dead : * Who delivered (5673 ) us from so great a death , and doth deliver (5736 ): in whom we trust (5758 ) that he will # yet deliver (5695 ) us ; * Ye also helping together (5723 ) by prayer for us , that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be (5686 ) given by many on our behalf . * For our rejoicing is (5748 ) this , the testimony of our conscience , that in simplicity and godly sincerity , not with fleshly wisdom , but by the grace of God , we have had our conversation (5648 ) in the world , and more abundantly to you-ward . * For we write (5719 ) none other things unto you , than what ye read (5719 ) or acknowledge (5719 ); and I trust (5719 ) ye shall acknowledge (5695 ) even to the end ; * As also ye have acknowledged (5627 ) us in part , that we are (5748 ) your rejoicing , even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus . * And in this confidence I was minded (5711 ) to come (5629 ) unto you before , that ye might have (5725 ) a second benefit ; * And to pass (5629 ) by you into Macedonia , and to come (5629 ) again out of Macedonia unto you , and of you to be brought on my way (5683 ) toward Judaea . * When I therefore was thus minded (5740 ), did I use (5662 ) lightness ? or the things that I purpose (5736 ), do I purpose (5736 ) according to the flesh , that with me there should be (5753 ) yea yea , and nay nay ? * But as God is true , our word toward you was (5633 ) not yea and nay . * For the Son of God , Jesus Christ , who was preached (5685 ) among you by us , even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus , was (5633 ) not yea and nay , but in him was (5754 ) yea . * For all the promises of God in him are yea , and in him Amen , unto the glory of God by us . * Now he which stablisheth (5723 ) us with you in Christ , and hath anointed (5660 ) us , is God ; * Who hath also sealed (5671 ) us , and given (5631 ) the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts . * Moreover I call (5731 ) God for a record upon my soul , that to spare (5740 ) you I came (5627 ) not as yet unto Corinth . * Not for that we have dominion over (5719 ) your faith , but are (5748 ) helpers of your joy : for by faith ye stand (5758 ).
