* And we declare unto you glad tidings (5731 ), how that the promise which was made (5637 ) unto the fathers , * God hath fulfilled (5758 ) the same unto us their children , in that he hath raised up Jesus again (5660 ); as it is also written (5769 ) in the second psalm , Thou art (5748 ) my Son , this day have I begotten (5758 ) thee . * And as concerning that he raised him up (5656 ) from the dead , now no more to (5723 ) return (5721 ) to corruption , he said (5758 ) on this wise , I will give (5692 ) you the sure mercies of David . * Wherefore he saith (5719 ) also in another psalm , Thou shalt not suffer (5692 ) thine Holy One to see (5629 ) corruption . * For David , after he had served (5660 ) his own generation by the will of God , fell on sleep (5681 ), and was laid (5681 ) unto his fathers , and saw (5627 ) corruption : * But he , whom God raised again (5656 ), saw (5627 ) no corruption . * Be it (5749 ) known unto you therefore , men and brethren , that through this man is preached (5743 ) unto you the forgiveness of sins : * And by him all that believe (5723 ) are justified (5743 ) from all things , from which ye could (5675 ) not be justified (5683 ) by the law of Moses . * Beware (5720 ) therefore , lest that come (5632 ) upon you , which is spoken of (5772 ) in the prophets ; * Behold (5628 ), ye despisers , and wonder (5657 ), and perish (5682 ): for I work (5736 ) a work in your days , a work which ye shall in no wise believe (5661 ), though a man declare it (5741 ) unto you .
