* And when her masters saw (5631 ) that the hope of their gains was gone (5627 ), they caught (5637 ) Paul and Silas , and drew (5656 ) them into the marketplace unto the rulers , * And brought (5631 ) them to the magistrates , saying (5627 ), These men , being (5723 ) Jews , do exceedingly trouble (5719 ) our city , * And teach (5719 ) customs , which are not lawful (5748 ) for us to receive (5738 ), neither to observe (5721 ), being (5752 ) Romans . * And the multitude rose up together (5627 ) against them : and the magistrates rent off (5660 ) their clothes , and commanded (5707 ) to beat (5721 ) them . * And when they had laid (5631 ) many stripes upon them , they cast (5627 ) them into prison , charging (5660 ) the jailor to keep (5721 ) them safely : * Who , having received (5761 ) such a charge , thrust (5627 ) them into the inner prison , and made their feet fast (5662 ) in the stocks .
