* And the multitude rose up together (5627 ) against them : and the magistrates rent off (5660 ) their clothes , and commanded (5707 ) to beat (5721 ) them . * And when they had laid (5631 ) many stripes upon them , they cast (5627 ) them into prison , charging (5660 ) the jailor to keep (5721 ) them safely : * Who , having received (5761 ) such a charge , thrust (5627 ) them into the inner prison , and made their feet fast (5662 ) in the stocks . * And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed (5740 ), and sang praises (5707 ) unto God : and the prisoners heard (5711 ) them . * And suddenly there was (5633 ) a great earthquake , so that the foundations of the prison were shaken (5683 ): and immediately all the doors were opened (5681 ), and every ones bands were loosed (5681 ).
